  • whats a vcr (lol)

  • Lol is that porn in your console???

  • Holy crap wut speakers u got?

  • Al, i'm liking the glasses :D

  • 10 people don't truly appreciate vintage computing.

  • Clean your house lol

  • do you still have the old 2e to this day?

  • I like your videos very much. They remind me beautiful times. Thank you very much and keep up good job :)

  • fun fact, this was recorded before i was born.

  • Though I don't really like Apple, and I think that the PC is better than the Mac. I think that the pre-Macintosh Apple and their computers were just freaking awesome.

  • Yay! Apple IIs were cool. my dad had an apple iigs.

  • Steve Jobs and Wozniak really thought about this computer.

  • 1:36 - 1:37 Bahahahhah Alfred in 1992!

  • old computers are amazing! i have an ME and 98 and i love to use them

    BTW nice cat lol

  • iTunes for Apple IIe? Apple was indeed ahead of its time, even in '92.

  • I have a working IIe and Apple ///+.

  • @Membrane556 wait, and apple iii+???? those are rare! you have to hold onto it! 

  • apple's were always ahead of their time and built to last.

  • awesome stuff!

  • These old systems never fail to amaze me. In it's own way, this is better than some of the visualizers out for today. Modern systems just take it so far and try to make it so amazing that they miss what /will/ make it amazing. Doing things like this on simple hardware. :)

  • the beginning sounds like the THX sound

  • Alfred, at the beginning of the video when you said "Hey you guys", who were you addressing? Was it the YouTube of the 90's? LoL

  • nice porn at 1:08. hahaha

  • great porn

  • AHAHAHAHA LOL i know this is an old comment, but good pickup!

  • haha you have a great eye!

  • You Will Keep Seeing The Blue Scring Die....ok Yo deserve it......

  • Comment removed

  • 2:48 You have a cute kitty!

  • I miss my old Mac II ci! :'(

  • OMG YOU HAVE A CAT. i love cats too

  • Great

  • Filmed in 1992?? 0:25

  • What is the name of the program that's doing the nice graphics effects? Is it a well-known program?

  • I just got an AMAZING lot!!! Apple ][ (original with brown keyboard) and an Apple ][ plus+. I got it for $150 together and I got the original monitor and some games and 4 Disk drives! Im soooooo HAPPY :)

  • Hehe nice! I just bough a II plus, II Europlus, and II e, plus an Apple brand monitor, 3 disk II drives, an Apple Silentype, several expansion cards, etc. Everything for 750 SEK, around 100 USD.

And I already had one Apple IIe, one IIe clone, one II plus, and one IIc ...

    Yyes, I am crazy ;-)

  • No DuoDisk? hmm...

  • dude you have a similar voice to peter criss thats freaking sweet

  • at 1:38! holy crap!!!! sweet glasses. lol.

  • lol thats you al? i've never seen you like that!

  • If you guys say thats old (which it is), why dont YOU try building it.

  • WOW THAT'S OLD

  • talk about old

  • I saw that too! lol. Some Tug TV on the old Sony ;D

  • holy shit did any1 notice da porn he had on his TV center at 1:08, i did, ah who cares every guy has his porn, i no i do

  • Talk about a step back for me. The computer lab at my elementary had around 25 Apple IIes with the DuoDisk and Monitor II. My favorite game on that was Facemakers, I think was what it was. Apple II Trek was pwnage too.

  • But do all those computers still work? i love the oldies.

  • for some reason the first time i watched it it stopped right after you said "entertainment center'

  • also, @3:40 - My first thought was "the audience is now woz'd."

  • More than half a year, and I still haven't noticed the XXX tape. Nice.

  • Nifty video. It'd be cool if I could download a disk image of the software you used to do that. I'd totally download it on my IIgs, write it to floppy, and pop it in my platinum IIe's duo disk drive.

I have a fair number of old computers all set up. I'd say the IIgs is really my favorite though. My licence plates on my car say "IIGS" :-)

  • Quick question, what was your main computer in those days, the GS? or the CI? or neither one? Just wondering.

    ~VoX

  • A more appropriate song would have gone "bowp chicka bowp bow" to go with that porn VHS tape on your TV stand. :)

    Apple ][ Trek, awesome game.

  • Glad I'm not the only one who noticed the porn!

  • Is that an XXX videotape visible around 1:08 minutes? :-)

  • yes! ROFL! Nicely spotted!

  • at 3:11 its gone humm

  • The name of the song is

    Starflight l

    artists : Kavin Braheny

Albums : Hearts of space universe sampler 90

  • THAT'S IT!! Thanks!!!

  • Nice!

Was the audio influencing the graphics in the musical segment?

There was a hardware box that did that. Atairi I think. A music video used it. Had one. No video output! RF only.

I posted a video response, but check my other videos also.

  • The intro of that song - isn't it used as one of those Dolby trailers?

    /watch?v=HKj7xRRx9cU

  • Hi Al - that's just a short intro I wrote and played on the Kurzweil 2600XS synthesizer. Thanks for watching!

  • This video will not play on my computer and I don't know why :(

I really want to see it... I tried Safari... Firefox... even freakin Netscape!

  • (Sorry, I didn't realize someone already asked that question)

  • Awesome video! Can you tell me the name of the song played during the visualization?

  • Hi Tan - damn, I wish I could remember the song -- it was so damn long ago!

  • How did you accomplish this? can it be done on a IIGS?

    seriously get back to me.

  • Hmm. Not sure if the IIgs has the 'casette ports' on it -- I have to find the name of that visualizer -- I do have it, somewhere, in storage -- I will try to dig it up!

  • Amazing, I want this at my visualizer in iTunes.

    Apple ][ rocks!

  • great vid?

  • That was awesome....

  • Hey Al,

I just noticed right at 01:08 one of the videos you had on your entertainment center. Nice way of showing the porno there ha ha.

keep up the vids they are the only thing i enjoy on here next to old school commercials from Chicago in the 80's.

  • Atticus! LOL! Ahh yes, two movies "Earth Girls are Sleazy" and "Lust in Space" - nerd porn, based on Science Fiction movies. What's missing? The classic "Star Hoars" LOL! Thanks for watching! - Alfred

  • hah, you look like a square with those old glasses on

  • Zik! Agreed -- but it was good that I filmed this short documentary to share. Oh man, those glasses were nasty! LOL!

  • sorry for having to post this in 3 parts.... I typed to much and you tube wouldnt allow me to post it all

  • but when you showed the APPLE iigs.. i REMEMBER THAT computer thats what we used back in the 6TH GRADE HAHA.. I remember when you would turn it on AND i cant remember what it was called HOPEING you can remember but when you turned it on and there was no disk in the 2e you would get a screen and it was BLUE and it had a line going across the screen what did it say below the blue bouncing line or what was that screen called?

but.... what was the apple [] THAT CAME way before the IIGS ?

  • CM - I will be booting and filming all of my old systems. This is my mission. The lineup was Apple I, Apple ][, Apple ][ Plus, Apple ///, Apple IIe, Apple IIc, Apple IIGS!

  • sweet cant wait!! :)

    CM

  • CM, it actually gives me and another friend a valid excuse to 1) Keep all this old crap 2) Buy more of this old crap -- so when people ask us 'why', we can now give them a good reason, thanks to subscribers like you! - Alfred

  • OK alfred, im confused... thie apple i guess you call that BRACKET since its [] well you called it APPLE 2

  • Actually, Apple ][ -- the brakets go outward!

  • I like your videos on your bookcase. :) :)

  • wow, everyone always sees that! LOL!

  • Oooh... That's just like that 8088 Corruption Video, but even better!

  • Hub - do you have a link for that video? That's funny - 8088 sounds like a model chip from Intel. What type of music is that? - Alfred

  • Yo Alfred, whats the name of that song or music beat that was playing with grafix on the screen? sounds cool!

  • Hey Lalo - thanks for watching this (and the other) tech vids. Oh man, that song.. damn, that video clip was from like 1991/92. It actually wasn't the song I wanted to play -- so that is why the name doesn't jump out at me. I'll have to really think about that one. Please stay tuned! :)

  • Back when I was around 10 years old, my old elementary school never thought about hooking a color TV up to an Apple IIe they had, and decided to stick with a crappy monochrome monitor at the time; and I didn't even think about using a color TV with composite inputs either.

  • wow. This brings me back. I use to program in BASIC on the APPLE ][e.

    5 TEXT:HOME

10 A$="WOW. THIS BRING ME BACK"

    15 PRINT: PRINT A$

    20 PRINT

    25 END

  • Hahahahahaha. Tremendous!

  • Awesome stuff!

Is that cat in the video still alive?

  • Hi Mike - I was in denial about a cat allergy, and I only had her for six months and gave it away to a nice family. So many years later, T'Pring is probably as dead as my friends marriage right now :) Thanks for watching! - Alfred

  • My first computer was a Timex/Sinclair 1000. It had 4k of memory! LOL I still have it in the original box with printer and stuff. Then I got the Timex/Sinclair 2068 color computer and then in 1982-3 after my family saw that I as serious about computers I got my first Apple //e. I've been an apple loyalist ever since! :) I am currently using an Intel based Mac Mini.

  • Dude I can see your porn on the bookcase!

    Great vid tho.

  • LOL Oh yea, it was in the frame of the camera :)

  • Awesome stuff Alfred. I'm happy to see someone tinkering with the machine that I grew up with. My father still has the original motherboard for the 2e. I was too young to remember, but my dad has pics from a party he had at our house after he designed the hardware for the 2e and there was a cake designed like the motherboard lol. I appreciate the memories man, that machine got me hooked on video games haha. Keep up the great work! -Gavin

  • Hey Gavin! Thanks for the nice comment. You have to post up those pictures of your father with the motherboard cake! Outstanding! What part of the motherboard did he design? That is veyr cool! Thanks!! - Alfred

  • good

  • Cool - thanks for watching and commenting - Alfred

  • Man, I am 17 years old and I own: the Apple 1,and 2,the 2gs, mac2,mac128k,imac, mac portable, and many more. I am crazy bout apple!

  • NICE Collection. I just subscribed to your channel - let's talk some more after the holidays! Thanks for watching ... more to come! - Alfred

  • Just one question... is that a naughty video under you Sony TV? LOL. I spy a woman in a black bra.

  • Yes, I think the movies were "Earth Girls are Sleezy" and "Lust in Space". Haha, porn for Sci-Fi nerdz. LOL! - Alfred

  • Keep the vids coming!

  • Wow awesome video! You really know alot about technology! I know alot about using them..but when its core basics, and assembly..im screwed haha!

Nice one! And what was the music at the end? I liked it!

  • Myles! Thanks for watching. Holy crap - I filmed that in 1992 -- I have NO IDEA what song was playing. I will let you know if I stumble across it, since I am finally loading all of my CD's into iTunes. TTYL, Myles!

  • I'm sorry Al, this vid was TOO Geeky, even for me to watch! It brings back painful memories of weekends messing about with BBC Micros and C64s. I don't think I didn't notice your porn vids!

  • Ari! Ahh, the Commodore 64. I still have one in my storage facility! LOL! What a great machine that was as well! Thanks very much for watching! - Alfred

  • roots revisited!

now my new mac saw this vid from his grand grand father and I think he has some tears in his eyes. Tanks for that and please show us more from the apple family tree!

  • Hi Jack - YES, more to come! - Alfred

  • Yeeehaaaaaw!

Great ! THX 4 posting this!

  • Hey Mastino! Thanks very much for watching and your comments. It looks like people are enjoying my retro computing (and making fun of my old hair style and glasses), so, yes, more to come! - Alfred

  • Wow you are the O-G of vlogging bro...lol.

  • Rocco! What's up! Oh man, I am freezing my ass off in New York right now. I hope you are doing great -- thanks for dropping in and the nice compliment! - Alfred

  • I do believe all of us owe a small amount to the Apple 2. Think about it, no Apple 2 will equal to no proper Operating system, well thats what i believe. Alfred bro you know your way around a computer! Man was that Apple really in surround sound? Great vid man! 5 stars and BTW nice glasses.

  • MC - thanks for watching. The audio was coming from the stereo system. We fed the audio through the Apple ]['s casette input port, because the frequencies drove the display. Overall, extremely cool! Thanks for watching and rating. Damn, you saw those glasses, eh? LOL! - Alfred

  • you are most definitely the coolest computer geek i know. and that is a compliment :)or...as you just put it: hyperactive nerd. Love to you neighbor :) -alh

p.s. try to get out this weekend and enjoy the gorgeous weather. check out the video i just posted (poor quality, but you get the idea)- so much to be thankful for!

  • Hi Andrea - thanks for the nice note. Well, I am 'less nerdy' now. Er, well, maybe not. LOL! Thanks for watching! - Alfred

  • am i the only one who noticed the porn on the "entertainment" center.

  • LOL - Naa, TheCreativeOne spotted it up at the top. Oh yea, nerd sci-fi classics "Lust in Space" (Lost in Space) and I think the other was "Earth Girls Are Sleazy" (Earth Girls are Easy). LOL! Thanks for watching! - Alfred

  • Do you only watch Sci-Fi pr0n? haha

  • i see you have a cat, al.

    -mike

  • Hey Mike Happy Thanksgiving! Yes, I had T'Pring for about 6 months, until I realized she almost killed me due to asthma. She was a cool animal. Thanks for noticing! - Alfred

  • Yes... we have a porn sighting! Awesome stuff once again. If I may ask, which Macs do you currently own? I hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Take care, Jim

  • Hi Jim - sorry for the long delay. I use an upgraded G4 for 'day to day' stuff. I have a G5 that runs my music studio, and a MacPro for video editing. A MacMini is in my entertainment center, a PowerBook G4 is for mobile recording, and a nice Dell system wtih XP to VPN into my office. Thanks for watching! - Alfred

  • Hey Alfred, great video. This Apple II should be called "Apple II Media Center Edition" LOL.

This video made me want to find my father's Apple II, it's probably covered by dust somewhere in my basement.

    Daniel

  • Daniel - YES - it got me on a kick now to to dust off ALL of the retro machines I have lurking around here, and do a YouTube video on each one. We might have a whole Apple ][ revival - it is very educational, as you really get to 'touch' the inner workings of a computer. Very cool! - Alfred.

  • That was cool. For some reason, with the music and that interface it reminded me of that movie where a young kid runs aways with is friends to participate in a video game contest. Keep them coming Alfred ;)

  • What movie was that? See if you can look it up! Thanks for watching. More retro stuff coming after the holidays! - Alfred.

  • I can't remember the title, but if i find some information about it i'll let you know.

  • So let me get this straight. Back in the late 1970s when the world was still getting used to Pong and the Atari 2600 just hit the streets, Winamp visualizations were possible on the ole IIe. :-D LOL. My roots are on Apple machines in the world of Tech, and that was no mistake. Bravissimo from someone who used ProDOS and Apple IIs + early Macs for years and someone who also programmed in Applesoft BASIC back in the day. :-)

  • The ole claaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaank noise when 5.25" drives couldn't read the disk. LOL. If that stuff was still around today there'd be a lot of people scared of computers. LOL.

  • "That thing crashed today."

Weren't thinking about putting a monitor right next to a box with a hard drive in it back then eh? =D

  • Jay! LOL Thanks for watching and the great comments. Actually, that monitor config was OK'd by Apple Tech -- the shielding on the monitor was pretty damn good! BTW, Steve Wozniak is checking out these vids and getting a real kick out of them! :) More to come - Alfred.

  • I am ashamed to say that all of them machines are them are older than me. A nice look at some old technology, I think that 8-bit chip could most likely out do my 32-bit one. :D

  • Joe! Thanks for watching. Hey, it's great that you can experience 'computing from the old days'. Good thing I was a pack rat! LOL!

  • im actually shocked that a computer that old could do something like that

  • Hey Mele - yes, the system was incredible. I working piece of art. More to come, with more 'in depth' views of these wonderful systems! - Alfred.

  • nice! i wish i had all of them apples! i saw an old apple 2 at a store before when i was really little makes me wish i would have bought it! man your room looks like my room full of computers :)

  • Tyler - don't worry. With the new videos I plan on filming, it will be almost as good as owning one without all of the storage needs! :) Alfred.

  • that visualization looks bettter than most modern ones :o)

  • I'll tell you -- the algorithms used in the program were outstanding. While today's visualizer's are 'overloaded' - with the one on the Apple II, you were really able to 'see' the variance in the music visually. More to come! - Alfred

  • Are those machines working today?

  • Red, I do have a working Lisa, NeXT Cube, Apple //e, Apple IIci, and PowerBook 180c, oh, and an Apple ///. You will be seeing more retro stuff after the holidays - seems to be some good interest! Thanks for watching! - Alfred

  • IT'S SO PREHISTORIC. I'M SCARED

  • Oh man, the good old days! LOL! - Alfred.

  • Awesome stuff! That's so cool that it was capable of rendering that. We take Visualizers for granted I guess. So Woz designed this?

And oh yeah, don't think I didn't see your porn sitting on the shelf where the Apple ][e (sp?) was. Hahahahaha!

  • LOL! David! Hahaha I was waiting who would be the first to comment on the two porns -- the top one was "Lust in Space" a joke on "Lost in Spac" - porn for sci-fi nerds. LOL! Woz designed the hardware, I have to do some research with regard to the software. It was so damn cool, especially for the time! TTYL :) Alfred

  • LMAO... Lust in Space! :D VERY observant, Creativeone. Life can't be ALL about computers. :)

  • owned xDDD

  • The sad thing is... is that I've programmed on these before... and I had an Altos... (yeah, I'm a comp nerd) :)

  • Brent! Holy crap, based on that comment, I had to subscribe to your channel and add you to my friends list. I'm just out the door - we'll talk more tech soon! - Alfred (Thanks for watching and the rating!)
