  • Great truck! Nice!

  • Awesome truck and video!

  • great looking truck

  • Does this truck have front brakes or just rear? If it's only front like it looks like the fact that it is competitive with the newer trucks that do have front brakes is very impressive.

  • looks like an old Roadway truck

  • It is. I remember as a kid I used to see Roadway tractors like this one and Ford Louisville 8000's with 6V-53's in them. All had stacks on them. 6V-53's were quite omnipresent back in the 1970's and early '80's.

  • I think that there is a very good chance that the tilt-hood on this truck is not original. Reason being that all IHC diesel models were not numbered the same as the gas models. Gas engine trucks were either model 1800 or 1810 depending on the year. Diesels were either 1850 or 1890 depending on the year. Same with the 1900 and 2000 series, although the Fleetstar 2070 series was a heavier-duty diesel. Also a small "Diesel" plate would be found at the front of the hood on each side.

  • Actually I just noticed a small plate on the driver's side to the left of the turn signal at 0:19, but is absent from the passenger side.

  • nice to hear what my 6v will sound like...

    what injectors?

    turbo'd?

    how many gears tranny?

  • Wat een geluid jongens, heerlijk. Kippevel.

  • 6V-53's were so omnipresent back in the 1970's and 1980's. VERY many commercial trucks, mostly IHC and GMC had them as well as many custom fire apparatus especially Seagrave, American LaFrance, and Maxim had 6V-53's in them, too.

  • @SeagraveRules correct me if im wrong.. the 6V53.. were V6 engines.. and didnt the seagrave use a inline? i could have sworn i watched one on here that had a detroid inline 2 stroke. or the american le france.. i forget what one.

  • @gizmo98550

Both the 6-71 and 6V53 could be found in Seagraves, along with the 8V53, 8V71 and the 6V92 and 8V92.

  • @ClassicTVMan1981X oh im sure there were alot of mixing and matching. i swear i saw that video of a old retired fire engine with a inline 2 stroke.. that must have been the 6-71.. OH! so the lack of the "V" in the name would signify the inline configuration and not the V set up.. i got it now

  • Sweet ride!

  • thanks i was faster than a 12v71 detroit diesel.

  • I miss hearing those old 6v53 hauling trash back in the 80s.

  • I miss hearing those old 6V-53's hauling a-- to fire calls back in the 80's.
