I don't know how to post pictures on YouTube but can help in a number of ways. First, there is a great Yahoo special interest group devoted to Sheldon lathes. They have many files of parts diagrams, photos, discussions, etc. on just about any topic. John Knox was one of the key engineers since 1952 and is an absolute wealth of info. Hi I was wondering if you could post a picture of your carriage stop.I have a sheldon lathe as well and the carriage stop that came with mine seems to be missing some parts.Thank you very much.

The belt tension is key as the tension must be maintained while raising the spindle up and down. There is an idler pulley on a swing arm under spring tension that can compensate for the change in height. It is this ability to raise and lower the powered spindle that separates this design from the usual milling attachment that raises and lowers the work. No clutches involved. I hope to demo the complete horizontal milling setup. Just haven't had time to post new videos but will do it!

Thank you for posting this 4 part series. Very nice clean work and shop! These Globe mill attachments look very well built. How does the belt tensioning work when you use the vertical feed? Do the orange pulleys have a clutch in them? I hope you get time for more videos.
