They interfered in the Byzantium civil war by supporting one of the sides. After a short period, the Byzantines come back and reconquer the lands.
After this, The Turks conquered Bulgarian lands and they keep it until the Russian-Turks war in the end of the 19th century. Romanians are here from 2500 years ago, mate :)

@impossiblefeel I am not sure what you say there about Transylvania. Bulgaria was a big kingdom before byzantine conquest. Nobody argue with this. I know that in all books Bulgarians are related with Slavic populations. Is an arguable fact. Maybe because your medieval organization and many names and toponimes are related with Russian ones.
The period between 400 BC and 1200 BC is a big problem. Only few proves and few information are available. So is a big fog here.

Romania have its own path. Our long history show to entire world that we are a hard nut to crack. We survived to all invasions and wars and also we become more and more numerous.

@impossiblefeel Also, between the Byzantines and Turks, Bulgarian people was conquered by so called Latin Empire. (A Venetian crusader army who renounced to go to holly lands). They interfered in the Byzantium civil war by supporting one of the sides. After a short period, the Byzantines come back and reconquer the lands.
After this, The Turks conquered Bulgarian lands and they keep it until the Russian-Turks war in the end of the 19th century. Romanians are here from 2500 years ago, mate :)
