The inside of this car is so much nicer than that of the camry. I recently bought a '09 toyota camry the inside is just boring! i love the body on the outside but the honda seems nice inside :P
I wish Honda would one day make a compact DOHC V12 engine that made 500hp and has a fuel economy rating of 30 mpg city and 35 mpg hwy and stick it in an Accord sedan or coupe that has a car weight of 3000 lbs.
@SagaraSouske it would be extremely difficult to get a V12 to get that kinda millage. unless it was very small, like 4-5L with 2 turbos then perhaps on the highway it could.
@xXBurntBaconXx I was thinking alone the lines of a compact V12 with some sort of advance hybrid system. Hopefully composite materials become much more cheaper and cost effective to build in the future, that way we will see more carbon fiber and similar materials being used in production vehicles.
Kelsey - I'm so jealous! Why did I have to wait until October 18, 2011 to ride in a 2008-present Honda Accord Sedan? Or August 31, 2011 for the coupe for that matter? Well I hated Hondas for a while (2007 - April 2011)... damn... I could have scored a ride in one in fall 2009 easily...
why are we even comparing the fusion and malibu to an accord?????? its a honda, it will outrun both of those cars. hondas are known for their reliability. accord will run 200k+ miles easy.... and im not even gonna start on the depreciation value.
This car is amazing. It's like an affordable Mercedes-Benz or BMW. Powerful V6 engine option, lots of power, good on gas. Car has a nice mean look on the front.
The MALIBU is CRAP! We knew someone who died because when she got in a rollover in her 2008 malibu, the rollover sensor didnt work! and she was ejected out of the car :O
The bench folding rear seat is puzzling .... why not have the 60/40 split ? is Honda trying to cut costs ? The new Accord is getting way too big to be practical ...

@tmfabianII You choose to ride a bike because of the seats in an Accound...Rofl, you my friend are spoiled brat. Perhaps you should "choose" to ride your bike for other reasons such as fitness and reducing your pollution footprint. The Stupidity of your comment makes me believe you certainly dont have access to an Accord to drive !
I don't mind the styling, except for the grill. The upper and lower grills look as if they belong on 2 different cars, a fairly common flaw that has been one of my pet peeves for a long time.
Funny that you say that the car is uncomfortable and not suitable for road trips. I purchased an 09 Accord EXL-N a few months ago and I just got back from a thousand plus km weekend road trip and let me tell you, this car was the most comfortable and economic vehicle that I have EVER used for long distance driving. The two tier dash board design also looks refreshing each time I get into the car and doesn't hinder visibility or make you feel as if you are in a cave like many new cars today.
@InfamousPR Yeah, I'm really tired of hearing about the god damn Malibu. First of all, despite what people may say, the cabin/interior is still lame. It's a clear case of GM trying too hard.
The plastics are hard and weird, although I have to say it's fairly comfortable. That is, if you have to be in it for only an hour or so. After a while you realize how shitty everything feels.
@cubano1389 there is a reason no no one will buy a 2003 malibu for the 4k kbb price i see them on craigslist all the time for about 3k if you post a 2003 accord for 6 k it will sell in a heart beat why do you think this is???? oh and i do buy and sell cars all the time and have learned the hard way that america cars just dont sell as fast as a nice accord or civic. sorry but its true my 2004 accord is in the top 5 most reliable cars in the world number 1 in most lists for mid size sedan
@mauiboypoi It's because the 2003 Malibu was a 1997 based design, while the 2003 Accord had just been introduced that year as a redesigned model. Try a 2004 Malibu (fresh off a redesign) and a 2004 Accord, I bet they'll be a lot closer in price.
@mauiboypoi It is true that the 2003 Accord will kill the 2003 Malibu, the 2003 Malibu is a 1997 design. A 2004 Accord will still beat a 2004 Malibu in most ways, however it's a lot closer of a match. A 2008 Malibu and a 2008 Accord are about equal in quality. The Accord is nice, yes, but the Malibu's caught up.
@whattheheck1000. I haveto say your right but some how I still think that the new accord feels way nice in the inside .. the camry is the worst imo and the for fusion is also very nice the malibu I think feels cheap..
@mauiboypoi The Accord does have a beautiful interior.... the Camry's used to be nice, but the 2007+ models just look crummy... the Fusion and Malibu are both nice to me but I'd give the edge to the Fusion.
@whattheheck1000 I think so to I use to do work for herts and got todrive all those cars a bunch of times the fusion is nicer but it cost more to. In any case I think I would go for the accord I had a 2004 and my only complane was the trunk space
@InfamousPR Every car today is reliable, if urs breaks is becuase u are a stupid ass that does not know how to mantain a car, i have know some ppl that cant locate the fucking engine under the hood, ofc their cars will break.
I drove the Malibu for about a week , then I rented an Accord a month later. Same area (oregon). I will tell you, I kinda question EPA figures because I averaged about the same with the edge going to the Honda. I averaged 31.7 for the honda and 30.2 for the Malibu, What gives?
What gives is the fact that GM and the EPA are full of complete shit when it comes to fuel economy. I told many people who bought into that heap of nonsense rubbish that they all get the same fuel econ. It's all about what you get for the money that counts.
I can tell you after having driven countless number of rental cars that have been abused by customers, the Honda Accord usually survives the beating to go on for resale while others break down. That is a real world test like no other, rental cars that get abused.
Elite Slayer you have to put the toyotas under mazdas too,and let me say that toyotas were never better than mazdas or honda, and of course they were and they are(toyotas) bad designed, not to mention the drive characteristics
Hyundai has the worst track record for a car company on quality & reliability, they have become better in the last couple of years but no way near to Honda or Toyota!!!
I have an Accord, and let me tell you, I think it's a great car. Good size, good gas mileage, just every thing about it is good, and that's all i can ask for in a car.
Dude, we're talking about the BRAND. HONDA and TOYOTA have much better ride quality than Hyundai. If Hyundai is better, why people prefer HONDA? Anyway, Japanese product is always better than Korean product..... Am I right?
Not your not. A name does not make a brand unreliable.
I like the part where you said "If hyundai is better why do people like honda?" FYI Hyundai was the only company to make profit lat year and sales are through the roof.
Hyundai has also been winning awards left and right.
"Toyoyta/Honda have better ride quality than a Hyundai" - Is that all you can come up with??
People need to forget Hyundai of the past to recognize how good Hyundai is.
Holy shit, why can't you dumb shits leave me alone. I said the cold solid facts about how Hyundai is better but you retards deny it. If your going to start a fucking argument make sure you got facts otherwise your making shit up.
Hyundai>Honda>Toyota. I fucking dare anyone to disprove that.
I would like to see what "facts" prove that a hyundai is better than anything other than maybe a KIA... I have driven a brand new 2009 hyundai, and my friend owns a brand new hyundai... its slower, breaks more frequently, and is much less comfortable than the 15 year old accord I had...
hyundai has definitely come a long way, but they havent surpassed honda in quality. They are cheaper... the "quality" you see just wont last.
to clear up my vague statement if you want. It was a 94 accord ex 5 speed, 160,000 miles and drove like new, and the leather seats were still comfortable. The hyundai was an elantra. 40K miles and it felt like it was falling apart. It may have just come down to maintenance/care though.
You can't say that the good "Quality won't last. Good quality means it's well built and looks nice. Hondas have good quality for sure, but the cabin of their cars don't look nice. Hyundai does both.
Also, your comparing an accord to an elantra. The elantra is a step don't from the accord. Besides that, at 40k the car must be in need of some basic maintenance.
Hyundai or Honda, they're both great car companies. As for Toyota... their quality has dropped big time.
looks are an opinion, I think hondas have some of the best looking interiors on the market... and I mean have you looked at the accord coupe?? it looks amazing and yea it was an accord, but it was a 15 year old honda that still felt better than a 6 month old hyundai... shit I used to drive the hell out of a beat up 1990 civic that ran better than that elantra. Hyundai never will build an engine anywhere near as good as a Honda engine, and there is where Honda quality dwarfs Hyundai
Ya well Hyundai is catching. give 'em time. As for the looks, well go compare the interior of a new Sonata to a new accord. The sonata is brighter, more colorful, it has wood trim and over all feels more luxurious.
I like how solid the interior of all Hondas feel... you said you have a Huyndai... just wait a while and you will see when your electronics start failing, and everything gets loose. The seats start losing their form, and latches stop holding things closed. I have driven an 09 accord many times, and had a sonata as a rental once for a week. The accord is a better overall car by far. If I was looking for luxury and still wanted a honda, I would get an Acura TL or RL haha.
Hyundai DOES have very bad resale value but they're not the worst. Besides, what cheap bastard sells their cars?? I would never sell my cars, ever, just like I would never, EVER buy a used car.
Hahahah everyone claims they have "passed" Honda and Toyota in quality. Take the car drive it over 200k miles. Wheres the quality now? It is true most of the time what they say. You get what you pay for. Hyndai can't be cheaper and provide everything better. The physics simply don't work that way. While Honda isn't the cheapest of the bunch. They certainly are the highest in the quality department. They are not a car company BTW. They are a Motor company. They specialize in engines.
Well anyone with eyes and hands can see and feel that Toyotas have gotten cheaper recently. Honda hasn't changed much nor has their price.
I'm denying that Honda is #1 in quality but Hyundai is catching up.
The new 2011 Sonata feels very high quality and some reviews named it best in class. Those are just first impressions since the car hasn't released yet but I'm just saying that Hyundai is doing very well.
BTW Hyundai CAN give equal or better quality since they're Korean and labor is cheap.
I agree with the toyota loosing their quality part. But I still believe that honda is the industry leader in quality. I was actually watching not to long ago a video of hondas American team of workers. One of them commented about the challenges it is to work there making sure quality from their suppliers meets their standards and how clean the welds must be with no room for error. Shows you the kind of workmanship is put into their cars. They always maintain their quality.
and as for Hyndai. Their quality isn't to bad but some of the cars had a lot of issues. They definatly are stepping it up. But still the engines aren't really as refined and as durable as what you'd find in a honda.
I agree, and I always knew Honda for having great quality, but remember, a Hyundai is cheaper so you can't really except them to beat hyundai even with cheaper labor. However I do believe Hyundai has one engine used in the Genesis (Not sure if it's a V6 or V8) that won awards.
In the end, Hyundai, Honda, Toyota are all great and the only non luxury brand cars I'd buy.
it is like a 4.0 v8 something like that. I looked into it a while back. Nice car but has some balancing issues between the clutch. Still a good car overall. Back to Honda. Hyndai maybe cheaper at base but the honda will be cheaper over time because of a few factors. Cost of ownership and upkeep, Fuel efficiency, and having the highest resale of any other brand. You can research and compare cost of ownership at edmunds.
@EpiDemic117 Not when you add in their transmission repair cost, which is among the highest. Honda = good engine and shitty transmission. I've heard of two rebuilds in 140,000 miles Toyota = Great transmission and sludge mixer for an engine. If you can fight the sludge, Toyotas are great. If you can't, tissues are cheap.
IT really depends on how hard the car has been driven. I haven't heard of many Honda owners getting their trannies rebuilt. The key to saving any tranny is going in neutral as much as possible when you're not moving. It saves years of tranny wear. But that goes for any make and model.
@cbmuzik That is interesting about keeping it in neutral. I thought that would possibly be a good idea, since the car isn't fighting itself. I wonder if the shifter doesn't get worn, however. Driving city would have you shifting 20 times as much with an automatic.
true, you would have to do it an awful lot. But it seems to help for me. And that VSA feature is a headache. You can feel the car slowing on it's own when you stop accelerating because it engages the braking system while activated. So when I take off VSA and neutral as often as I can, the car tends to feel a lot less weighed down. I can't speak for everyone...that's just my experience so far. the "neutral" comment I first made came from reading up on Honda trannies in Honda owners forums.
That's funny... My 2003 Accord which was known to be a bad transmission year for the Accord never had a problem in the 4 years I owned it, and neither did my mothers 99 Accord in the 10 years she owned it.
We now own 09 and 08 Accords respectively, again, with no problems.

I don't mind the styling, except for the grill. The upper and lower grills look as if they belong on 2 different cars, a fairly common flaw that has been one of my pet peeves for a long time.
lrd9999 1 year ago

After a while you realize how shitty everything feels.

cubano1389 1 year ago
@cubano1389 there is a reason no no one will buy a 2003 malibu for the 4k kbb price i see them on craigslist all the time for about 3k if you post a 2003 accord for 6 k it will sell in a heart beat why do you think this is???? oh and i do buy and sell cars all the time and have learned the hard way that america cars just dont sell as fast as a nice accord or civic. sorry but its true my 2004 accord is in the top 5 most reliable cars in the world number 1 in most lists for mid size sedan
mauiboypoi 1 year ago
@mauiboypoi It's because the 2003 Malibu was a 1997 based design, while the 2003 Accord had just been introduced that year as a redesigned model. Try a 2004 Malibu (fresh off a redesign) and a 2004 Accord, I bet they'll be a lot closer in price.

mauiboypoi 6 months ago
@mauiboypoi It is true that the 2003 Accord will kill the 2003 Malibu, the 2003 Malibu is a 1997 design. A 2004 Accord will still beat a 2004 Malibu in most ways, however it's a lot closer of a match. A 2008 Malibu and a 2008 Accord are about equal in quality. The Accord is nice, yes, but the Malibu's caught up.

@whattheheck1000. I haveto say your right but some how I still think that the new accord feels way nice in the inside .. the camry is the worst imo and the for fusion is also very nice the malibu I think feels cheap..
mauiboypoi 6 months ago
@mauiboypoi The Accord does have a beautiful interior.... the Camry's used to be nice, but the 2007+ models just look crummy... the Fusion and Malibu are both nice to me but I'd give the edge to the Fusion.

@whattheheck1000 I think so to I use to do work for herts and got todrive all those cars a bunch of times the fusion is nicer but it cost more to. In any case I think I would go for the accord I had a 2004 and my only complane was the trunk space

I drove the Malibu for about a week , then I rented an Accord a month later. Same area (oregon). I will tell you, I kinda question EPA figures because I averaged about the same with the edge going to the Honda. I averaged 31.7 for the honda and 30.2 for the Malibu, What gives?
petuniacar 2 years ago
What gives is the fact that GM and the EPA are full of complete shit when it comes to fuel economy. I told many people who bought into that heap of nonsense rubbish that they all get the same fuel econ. It's all about what you get for the money that counts.

I can tell you after having driven countless number of rental cars that have been abused by customers, the Honda Accord usually survives the beating to go on for resale while others break down. That is a real world test like no other, rental cars that get abused.

Dude, we're talking about the BRAND. HONDA and TOYOTA have much better ride quality than Hyundai. If Hyundai is better, why people prefer HONDA? Anyway, Japanese product is always better than Korean product..... Am I right?
raykrislianggi 2 years ago 2
Not your not. A name does not make a brand unreliable.
I like the part where you said "If hyundai is better why do people like honda?" FYI Hyundai was the only company to make profit lat year and sales are through the roof.
Hyundai has also been winning awards left and right.
"Toyoyta/Honda have better ride quality than a Hyundai" - Is that all you can come up with??
People need to forget Hyundai of the past to recognize how good Hyundai is.

Hyundai>Honda>Toyota. I fucking dare anyone to disprove that.
EliteSlayer542 2 years ago
I would like to see what "facts" prove that a hyundai is better than anything other than maybe a KIA... I have driven a brand new 2009 hyundai, and my friend owns a brand new hyundai... its slower, breaks more frequently, and is much less comfortable than the 15 year old accord I had...
LemUUU 2 years ago
The facts are in the numerous awards Hyundai has won. Along with a huge spike in sales.
Hyundai beat every non luxury brand including Honda and Toyota in Initial Quality.
Also I would love to know what Hyundai your comparing to your 15 year old accord. Also, is the accord a V6? You made a very vague statement.
However I must admit that the new/good Hyundai of today has not proven itself in long term reliability.
I'm the owner of a 09' Sonata. It's cheaper and higher quality then an accord.
EliteSlayer542 2 years ago
hyundai has definitely come a long way, but they havent surpassed honda in quality.
LemUUU 2 years ago
You can't say that the good "Quality won't last. Good quality means it's well built and looks nice. Hondas have good quality for sure, but the cabin of their cars don't look nice. Hyundai does both.
Also, your comparing an accord to an elantra. The elantra is a step don't from the accord. Besides that, at 40k the car must be in need of some basic maintenance.
Hyundai or Honda, they're both great car companies. As for Toyota... their quality has dropped big time.
EliteSlayer542 2 years ago
looks are an opinion, I think hondas have some of the best looking interiors on the market... and I mean have you looked at the accord coupe?? it looks amazing and yea it was an accord, but it was a 15 year old honda that still felt better than a 6 month old hyundai... shit I used to drive the hell out of a beat up 1990 civic that ran better than that elantra. Hyundai never will build an engine anywhere near as good as a Honda engine, and there is where Honda quality dwarfs Hyundai
LemUUU 2 years ago
Ya well Hyundai is catching. give 'em time. As for the looks, well go compare the interior of a new Sonata to a new accord. The sonata is brighter, more colorful, it has wood trim and over all feels more luxurious.
EliteSlayer542 2 years ago
I like how solid the interior of all Hondas feel... you said you have a Huyndai... just wait a while and you will see when your electronics start failing, and everything gets loose. The seats start losing their form, and latches stop holding things closed. I have driven an 09 accord many times, and had a sonata as a rental once for a week. The accord is a better overall car by far. If I was looking for luxury and still wanted a honda, I would get an Acura TL or RL haha.
LemUUU 2 years ago
dude u sound like some dumbass bullshitting hyundai salesman. hyundai has the worst resale value of any car maker out there
icedsnapple 2 years ago
Hyundai DOES have very bad resale value but they're not the worst. Besides, what cheap bastard sells their cars?? I would never sell my cars, ever, just like I would never, EVER buy a used car.
EliteSlayer542 2 years ago
Hahahah everyone claims they have "passed" Honda and Toyota in quality. Take the car drive it over 200k miles. Wheres the quality now? It is true most of the time what they say. You get what you pay for. Hyndai can't be cheaper and provide everything better. The physics simply don't work that way. While Honda isn't the cheapest of the bunch. They certainly are the highest in the quality department. They are not a car company BTW. They are a Motor company. They specialize in engines.
EpiDemic117 2 years ago
Well anyone with eyes and hands can see and feel that Toyotas have gotten cheaper recently. Honda hasn't changed much nor has their price.
I'm denying that Honda is #1 in quality but Hyundai is catching up.
The new 2011 Sonata feels very high quality and some reviews named it best in class. Those are just first impressions since the car hasn't released yet but I'm just saying that Hyundai is doing very well.
BTW Hyundai CAN give equal or better quality since they're Korean and labor is cheap.
EliteSlayer542 2 years ago
I agree with the toyota loosing their quality part. But I still believe that honda is the industry leader in quality. I was actually watching not to long ago a video of hondas American team of workers. One of them commented about the challenges it is to work there making sure quality from their suppliers meets their standards and how clean the welds must be with no room for error. Shows you the kind of workmanship is put into their cars. They always maintain their quality.
EpiDemic117 2 years ago
and as for Hyndai. Their quality isn't to bad but some of the cars had a lot of issues. They definatly are stepping it up. But still the engines aren't really as refined and as durable as what you'd find in a honda.
EpiDemic117 2 years ago
I agree, and I always knew Honda for having great quality, but remember, a Hyundai is cheaper so you can't really except them to beat hyundai even with cheaper labor. However I do believe Hyundai has one engine used in the Genesis (Not sure if it's a V6 or V8) that won awards.
In the end, Hyundai, Honda, Toyota are all great and the only non luxury brand cars I'd buy.
EliteSlayer542 2 years ago
it is like a 4.0 v8 something like that.
EpiDemic117 2 years ago
but during its lifespan the Honda will come out saving you at least 3 or 4 thousand. That's a lot of money.
EpiDemic117 2 years ago
@EpiDemic117 Not when you add in their transmission repair cost, which is among the highest. Honda = good engine and shitty transmission. I've heard of two rebuilds in 140,000 miles Toyota = Great transmission and sludge mixer for an engine. If you can fight the sludge, Toyotas are great. If you can't, tissues are cheap.
Polarcupcheck 1 year ago
@Polarcupcheck if you get a manual there is no problem to worry about at all.
EpiDemic117 1 year ago
If want to jerk some stick while I'm driving, well, you get the picture. LOL
Polarcupcheck 1 year ago
IT really depends on how hard the car has been driven. I haven't heard of many Honda owners getting their trannies rebuilt. The key to saving any tranny is going in neutral as much as possible when you're not moving. It saves years of tranny wear. But that goes for any make and model.
cbmuzik 1 year ago
@cbmuzik That is interesting about keeping it in neutral. I thought that would possibly be a good idea, since the car isn't fighting itself. I wonder if the shifter doesn't get worn, however. Driving city would have you shifting 20 times as much with an automatic.
Polarcupcheck 1 year ago
true, you would have to do it an awful lot. But it seems to help for me. And that VSA feature is a headache. You can feel the car slowing on it's own when you stop accelerating because it engages the braking system while activated. So when I take off VSA and neutral as often as I can, the car tends to feel a lot less weighed down. I can't speak for everyone...that's just my experience so far. the "neutral" comment I first made came from reading up on Honda trannies in Honda owners forums.
cbmuzik 1 year ago
@Polarcupcheck
That's funny... My 2003 Accord which was known to be a bad transmission year for the Accord never had a problem in the 4 years I owned it, and neither did my mothers 99 Accord in the 10 years she owned it.
We now own 09 and 08 Accords respectively, again, with no problems.
