If you are using win 7 and you still cant get it to work make sure your Midi volume is a high number like 198. Nothing worked for me until I figured that mine was set to -1 for some reason .. hope that helps someone =)

I have noticed that certain stages ive downloaded that have sprite issues commonly effect the music. I dont know why but it does. Try creating a folder and dragging your screenpacks to them... Make sure you have no typos... Try again... Process of elimination... Hope it helps

this is really pissin me off. the music is NOT playing on the char select screen, and i tried multiple plugins, tried another soundtrack in mp3 format, and still get dead silence. how the fuck do i fix this? Everyone talks about editing the plugins in mugen.cfg file but I don't see anywhere within that file that has the word plugins. Even doing ctrl + F and typing Plugin says cant find that word in this document. wtf? I'm using Mugen v1.0 rc7. I got sounds for the menu to work using this method, but stage music still succeeds to fail. I just recently got into mugen so bare with me please. Could it be the version I'm using?

Ok guys turns out it does work for Windows 7...you just have to make sure your midi volume, wav volume, mp3 volume are turned up in mugen.cfg then you should be fine. Also this is not Mugen 1.0 this is winmugen for those interested.

Thanks for the help. When I realized that my m.u.g.e.n didn't even have a "plugins" folder, I knew I had to fix it somehow. So, I just downloaded the latest version of M.U.G.E.N RC7 EX to replace my other m.u.g.e.n, and it works fine now.

ok so i had a sound issue and i tried every single plug in ever then i tried something new, i was running my screen pack off a batch file i installed the screenpack properly and now its fixed, so if you are having trouble with it and are running from batch files try using a non batch screenpack first.

If you are one particular person that has music that plays in the title screen once and then never plays again I have just found the solution as of now. This is definitely a plug-in problem believe or not, but none of the tutorial videos that i have watched include this one particular plug-in that Ive found. Download the in_mad150b.dll by searching it up on Google. This maybe become the solution to your problem.

Well, i got it to work.

At first i did what was most common, use the mp3pro.

But after an hour of experimenting, i did this.

plugin = plugins/in_mad.dll, mpeg, mp3

simply putting the mpeg in front of the mp3 made the music play every time without fail.

when the mp3 was alone it didnt work with ANY dll. For those of you that cant get any ofthe dlls to work, try copy pasting the line i posted above, it may work for you.

Hmm...if you aren't hearing sound you should go into your mugen.cfg and make sure all the sound numbers are put to as high as possible (255 I think).

I've tried the fix listed here, but I may have a different issue. Not only is there no music, but no other sound (cursor movement, SFX in game) is present. The game is completely silent. Running Vista. The game itself runs, just no sound which kills a lot of the fun.

I don't have vista, so it is hard for me to help people with vista. That being said, open up mugen.cfg with wordpad and look through there for sound settings. Raise everything to the max number. There are a lot of things you can change about the game in there as well.

What's the best mp3 plugin? My mp3 plugin won't play the menu and vs music, but it plays the music during battles. However, mp3pro plays the menu and vs music, but the battle music skips. And I can't use both.

You can also try using mp3 plugin for battle music, and using ogg music for everything else (convert your mp3s to ogg and use in_vorbis plugin)

I'm betting Mugen is not finding the song. For example, if you want to play a stage music, you would have to put the song file into your sound folder then go into the stage file and put sound/(songnamehere).mp3 if you don't have the whole path Mugen won't find it.

You have to give all your characters a stage. Go into your select.def and make sure to set randomselect as every characters stage (if they don't have one already).

I think it is for each format. I'm pretty sure. Like if you want both mp3 music and ogg music in your Mugen, you can have 1 plugin for each type. I personally just like having 1 plugin for everything if you can do it though.

Hmm well theres 2 possible problems. One go into your mugen.cfg and make sure all the sounds are on max volume (wav, mp3, ALL of them). If that doesn't work you gonna have to find the right plugin for your computer. If none of the ones from the comment of this video work pm me and I'll tell you more.

I can't help with Hi Res Mugen. I don't use it because I found normal Winmugen has much less problems and it also runs all the stages (hi res doesn't run all of them).

Hmm geez it seems the original Mugen download site is down. I'll have to look more for you. Search for winmugen in google. I don't recommend mugen plus or hi rez mugen though.

It might just be an issue with the version of Mugen you have then. Do you have high rez Mugen or regular. Also regular Mugen has a few versions. I recommend the original one you download from a japanese site.

well what happens is in the middle of the the gameplay the song just stars skipping out of no where and it says winmugen has to be closed and it has 2 options its says to report to windows or dont send either one just closes mugen anyway am not sure how to make it stop doing that

Did you check my skipping tutorial. If that doesn't work I don't know. It might have to do with your computer getting lagged by other programs and it shuts Mugen.

Go into Mugen.cfg there are ways to make your music louder in there (make wav and mp3 sounds louder even if you aren't using wavs).
