Great stuff, had me completely baffled for ages - looks like a really big one of those flaming Chinese lanterns, but not quite. Just found another couple of vids that look almost exactly the same, from Chile/ Peru. At one point though, you can see its a really high plane flying into the sunset, high enough to be still in the sun. Made even spookier in this video by the dust haze in the air.

Also like to point out and I just become aware of this since a few days ago, that the flight plan by the Airservices Australia are only kept for three months only. I did ask Mr. Wardell for a flight plan on Friday 22 April but he never gave me the info that I needed. and his reply came to me on 2 May he said that there was no legal requirements, that statement I found very dodgy.

I saw on of these clear as day over the horizon while the sun was setting. It was moving fast but not as fast as a plane you would see. It looked like a big ball of fire. Me and my dad saw it on our back deck years ago.

I saw something very similar to this almost a decade ago (also in Melbourne). I was heading north down a street in Malvern and looked up, only to see a very slow moving fireball at a very high altitude. Suddenly, it changed direction and began accelerating. It continued accelerating and changing direction, before completing a very, very tight 360 degree loop. It then proceeded to complete a second incredibly tight loop at enormous speed, before slingshotting and vanishing into space.

I can't say for certain what that is but I can tell you its not Comet Elenin. Elenin wouldn't be that bright and likely impossible to capture using a simple video recorder. Its not a meteor as such a thing only lasts for a second. It looks pretty hazy there, where you experiencing a dust storm or forest fire? I'd hazard a guess that is the edge of the Sun poking through the dust or smoke.
Im fairly sure its a meteorite my friend. Ive witnessed a few of the showers here in glasgow and a few of them out of 40+ will turn in the air as they burn up and the glowing effect seems to be partly caused by the sun below the horizon. Weather/air currents dictates wether the vapour trails hang around in the air or not. Some also take an age to disperse whereas others are gone in 60 seconds. Breaking up in different directions seems also to be quite common.

Weather balloon? Which way was the wind blowing? Right to left? It appears that the instrument package at the bottom was reflecting the setting sun, and the near side of the balloon, away from the sun, was in shadow.

I have been seeing these things in Florida..... Somtimes it will start as one object and then as it slows down it seperates into three!! I am serious. I' ve never seen something like this before. I tried to capture it with my phone but the image was very very faint.... Something weird is going on? Sometimes airplane contrails do seem to be short which gives them a comet like appearance,But the contrail in this footage does not look uniform,But that could be down to the video not being focused properly.

Yes, a con trail three nights in a row. From a scheduled flight that operates the same time each day and reaches the same point in the sky about the same time each day.
If the weather conditions are the same for those three (or four or five) nights in a row you will get the same effect.
Or do you really think it's a comet that no one else has reported? Or space debris that burns up (very slowly) the same time each day?

Well I saw something that look similar except it was low and fairly fast, but was not visible until it was close to the horizon near by. In the center it was white light and appear to have colors around the center green and I think orange and it had a tail. I thought it was a comet as well, but couldn't understand why I didn't see the approach it was almost like it just appeared, no sound dropped behind a mountain, no word in the news. I thought fireworks? But it came in on a angle?Hawaii

i looked on starry skies from the melbourne location, comet elenin was facing north very low in the sky, so this is comet elenin you are viewing, it was 1.9 au away from earth. Wow this is going to be a huge comet.
whatever it is its in our atmosphere so it is for sure not a comet. a blue tail is common with comets. this object is in earths air and burning up. you will not see it the next day im sure of it. cool video though..
@19Duster74 No it is not that either...they have agencies tracking these things and we would have been put on alert and if you research what space junk looks coming through our atmosphere it like it looks nothing like this. Also space junk does not take three days to fall through our atmosphere.

Saw same thing with me and a buddy while working on my car outside. I was around Atlanta, Ga. I saw this thing about 3 days ago...of course I can't say this is the SAME exact object, but we def. saw the same looking thing.It was very close, no missing it, it was about the size of a dime in the sky as comparison.

There's a ton of possible explanations for this. People jumping to conclusions, saying it's Niburu or some wildly misinformed nonsense are just talking out of their asses, & are the reason why UFO disclosure exist because these nut-jobs spread nonsense that cause hysteria, when there's absolutely no validity to what they're saying whatsoever. This could just be a some sort of debris from a space station or a ship re-entering the atmosphere. or a jet or some sort of earthly craft at high altitude

I have been seeing these things in Florida..... Somtimes it will start as one object and then as it slows down it seperates into three!! I am serious. I' ve never seen something like this before. I tried to capture it with my phone but the image was very very faint.... Something weird is going on? Maybe it was just space junk or a meteorite, but with all the weather catastrophies lately..... who knows............

Sometimes airplane contrails do seem to be short which gives them a comet like appearance,But the contrail in this footage does not look uniform,But that could be down to the video not being focused properly.

@arobekie lol this is a comet that actually was a near miss of our planet it was broadcasted on the news that no one thought it was important enough to report to the public. Why was it not important that such a huge frozen rock that nearly missed us not important to the people of earth?

Here is some data concerning Elenin.
Elenin's Nucleus is only 3–4 km in diameter.
At its closest point, Elenin will be 0.2+AU from us (16th Oct 2011)
Thats over 5 million miles from us.
No ELE event is possible from this.

Yes, a con trail three nights in a row. From a scheduled flight that operates the same time each day and reaches the same point in the sky about the same time each day.
If the weather conditions are the same for those three (or four or five) nights in a row you will get the same effect.
Or do you really think it's a comet that no one else has reported? Or space debris that burns up (very slowly) the same time each day?

Well I saw something that look similar except it was low and fairly fast, but was not visible until it was close to the horizon near by. In the center it was white light and appear to have colors around the center green and I think orange and it had a tail. I thought it was a comet as well, but couldn't understand why I didn't see the approach it was almost like it just appeared, no sound dropped behind a mountain, no word in the news. I thought fireworks? But it came in on a angle?Hawaii

definately something that is moving. Could be a jet catching the gelam of the sun. But you could be right'! It could have also been the X37 B space plane. It is a classified mission at sunset or sunrise people sometimes see it. It looks pretty much like what you filmed!

i looked on starry skies from the melbourne location, comet elenin was facing north very low in the sky, so this is comet elenin you are viewing, it was 1.9 au away from earth. Wow this is going to be a huge comet.

whatever it is its in our atmosphere so it is for sure not a comet. a blue tail is common with comets. this object is in earths air and burning up. you will not see it the next day im sure of it. cool video though..

@19Duster74 No it is not that either...they have agencies tracking these things and we would have been put on alert and if you research what space junk looks coming through our atmosphere it like it looks nothing like this. Also space junk does not take three days to fall through our atmosphere.

Saw same thing with me and a buddy while working on my car outside. I was around Atlanta, Ga. I saw this thing about 3 days ago...of course I can't say this is the SAME exact object, but we def. saw the same looking thing.It was very close, no missing it, it was about the size of a dime in the sky as comparison.

Yes, an airplane con trail. Quite a short one, but moving slowly away from you and illuminated by the setting sun.
You cannot see a comet moving, and anyway, a comet so obvious would be widely known about.

There's a ton of possible explanations for this. People jumping to conclusions, saying it's Niburu or some wildly misinformed nonsense are just talking out of their asses, & are the reason why UFO disclosure exist because these nut-jobs spread nonsense that cause hysteria, when there's absolutely no validity to what they're saying whatsoever. This could just be a some sort of debris from a space station or a ship re-entering the atmosphere. or a jet or some sort of earthly craft at high altitude
