We fixed a miniature horse with narcolepsy. Look at the video at Spots N Stripes Ranch search...for the MRS2000. The little horse was fixed in just a day, but we continued to use the MRS on him for a couple of months...no side effects...not pills...call us and we'll tell you about it.
i have narcolepsy too. i have the triad of symptoms & i've chosen to never take medication for it. i practice sleep hygiene & it's something that doesn't bother me much. when i was in school my teachers knew that i would periodically fall asleep, but i'd wake up remembering everything that was taught while i was asleep. ur right, people often think cataplexy means we fall out. not always the case. usually for me my neck muscles get weaker and my knees too, just like your daughter. best of luck
@fetishdiva1 I have a severe case of narcolepsy and cataplexy. Im 22 and have never had any meds for it. Doctor said its the worst case he has seen in his 15 years of working. Its very hard to deal with and frustrating as well. I've broken so many things because cataplexy kicked in and I dropped whatever I was holding
@iBJaz i'm sorry to hear you are so frustrated with your narcolepsy. it is something that i have just learned to deal with. i'm 34, so now i'm able to create my own employment and work for myself. you're 22 so you may still be in a position where you're frustrated by it or it interferes w/school. each narcoleptic person is different. for me, i will never take western meds for it. they will dull your senses & wreak havoc upon your system. if you want, i will contact you privately.

Thanks for sharing...I have a 10 year old who was diagnosed almost 2 years ago. I would love to speak with you, I have a pretty good group of friends, both adult and children, who also have narcolepsy. We provide information and support to eachother. Networking with others has made it easier to keep up with new information.

The tone in which the mom spoke, and things that she said, seemed to get through 2 the girl. Making her aware of the fact she was being taken away. Something was happenin, and she needed to fight back if she was 2 hold on to her pizza. Her mom tells her " wake up, your falling asleep" then later "pick up ur plate and hold it up". Seconds later her big bright eyes are open and alert again. Maybe if her mom continues to train her this way, she may have this condition under control by adulthood.
@munchi1217 you can't really control it like that. she was only snapping awake because she heard her mother's voice telling her to do something. you can't be really conditioned out of a natural response. when i get like that, i know i have about 5 -10 min before i'm about to completely fall asleep regardless of where i am so i go take a nap. it's not really something she can be conditioned to respond to. when she's sleepy enough it will just overtake her.
Thanks for sharing as I think many assume that narcoloepy cataplexy attacks are really overt and obvious. They can be subtle as this video shows. I have read that 3 out of 5 narcoleptics are undiagnosed and know nothing about this disorder. As one who was diagnosed at age 41 after sleeping through school my whole life I think your work is VERY valuable! Thank you for your efforts for children.
I wanted to ask, were incidences like this one brought about by things like being excited or overstimulated, or could they just happen any time? Must have been tough if it could happen while eating!
@junebabypielover0000 Oh! Um, pop is a north-eastern American colloquialism for soda - you know, Coke, Sprite, most other carbonated beverages. It's just what we call it around here.
