  • CDI!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I would like this system because I only like crap stuff

  • CDi!!! It's a Phillip's CDi! I can recognize a piece of shit anywhere!

  • I guessed cdi or jaguar

  • maybe its the shitty 3DO

  • Heh, well I have that too and enjoy it more..........

  • it was not shitty!!!way too expensive when it came out...but it had great games!!Flashback....SF2 turbo..wing commander III

  • I agree, I love my 3DO!

  • @MaximumRD ahhh my man!!I have it.....an for some reason, I just love it!!it can play games from Japan too which is a good asset compared to most other systems.

  • Philips CDi has an appeal to it. The APPLE Pippin is the worst game console ever.

  • Yeah, I do not really think this, I enjoy my CDi, I just thought I would make a title that played into the mis-information and a lot of peoples opinion. I find many people who go on the most about how bad a system or game is haven't really even owned one or tried it, they are just sheep.

  • I am so sorry for you

  • It's OK, I have many other consoles to get me through this thank god!

  • I almost guessed the Pippin, but this is on the same level!

  • Hard to tell if Pippin was so bad, I don't think enough software was ever released to give it a fair evaluation though that in itself may be reason enough.............

  • ist the sega cd!

  • its a cdi

  • ive seen the other reviews of this "god-awful" system, im actually intrigued by it

  • Heh heh yeah, that is why I labeled the video like that, it gets a LOT of flack but that is not my opinion completely, I find charm in these systems that emerged with the CD based tech, they just tried to be more then just a "games machine" and more something of an all purpose multi media box, like a PC today lol!

  • Is it an XBOX 360?

LOL That's the most unreliable one!

  • Now I want one.

  • Then I've done my job lol! Make sure to see the Cdi followup vid for a real look at what I got, then you will want it more!

  • Sadly I was distracted by the Amiga CD32 vid. To ebay with me!

  • @MaximumRD wait so its a cdi and i got it right on the first try the nerd has shown me the way.....AGAIN.

  • Very nice video... I still try to get a CDi - but until today I never got the chance to get it in the condition that I wanted to get it... Well, the day will come, hehehe

  • I am sure you will. Be sure to check my other video, a much closer inspection and more clearly thought out, CDi Unboxing Followup.........

  • he he he, right now I am watching already some of ur videos :-)

  • GREAT thanks, there are some better videos I have (I think anyway) and much better stuff coming, just trying to find the time...........

  • I know what you mean, when you talk about time... its just running and running and running...

  • Cool video

    and about the cdi

after watching avgn review of it i can understand the title of this video : )

  • LMAO, haah, nice, very nice. I totally agree with you, I've heard so much about that system and even though people dislike it, I still want one myself. someday, I'll get one like you I hope. Great vid man.

  • Ha Thanks man! Yeah I go for the underdog unloved systems!

  • I thought the worst system ever was the Atari 5200 myself ;)

I never owned CD-I, but I remember seeing advertisements for Space Ace/Dragons Lair that supposedly use the MPEG video enhancer. The system probably had the best version of those 2 games for its time anyway. Enjoy you "new" system.

  • I agree the 5200 is a huge pile of shit lol

  • I think the GameWave was the worst system ever, can't even homebrew for it. Great vid!

  • Hi rob, another nice video! :) I owned the original CDI the big VCR lookalike one then one of these like you got. I actually used to like it at the time even tho had bed reviews. I was amazed by live video and stuff tho in games. ha ha i remember having that gun too and playing mad dog mcree.

Before there were DVD players out properly in like '97/'98 i remember we could get pirated VCD's for it ha ha.

  • Interesting moment 1:27 and 1:28 where you look left and right and have two drops of sweat flying around! ;-)

  • Did the system happen to come with the Dirty Rotten Scoundrels movie disc? For some reason whenever I saw the CD-I in stores, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels always seemed to be one of the few movie discs sold alongside it. It might have been a pack-in with the video adapter or something I guess.

  • Naw, only movie is ADDAMS FAMILY. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is a great flick though!

  • Hey you could use an Atari 2600 controller too, granted only the b button will be available. (Sega Master system controller too, only A+B though, and any of the DE-9 connector joysticks from that era; C64 A8-bit Amiga ST etc)

  • Nice work! I have to join the "never had one of these" club. I heard about it off and on...Be curious how 7th Guest looks on it.

  • Thanks well, I definitely plan on going through the games and show you all!

  • I've got a review up for that game. In short, it looks better then the DOS/MAC version but they cut some stuff out in the proces :(

  • Checked out your review, amazing job as always!

  • Thanks man!

  • Nice field!

  • It's a school yard, thankfully NOT a high school yard! The good side is knowing nothing will be put up to block our view.

  • 30 degrees? That's two degrees below freezing, and you're still hot??? (Sorry, bad Fahrenheit joke.)

Rob, you crack me up dude. You are the man!

  • BOO-urns! LOL!

  • this obscure (unpopular might fit better) consoles always caught my attention. amiga cd, cdi, neo geo, 3D0, lynx...

i'd love to see you get one of that panasonic 3d0 beauties and analyze it.

  • I HAD one a few years back and ended up with problems with the disc loading mechanism, trouble reading discs etc, in older consoles even though they don't look as cool I prefer the simpler lid versions, they seems to last longer.....

  • Not tested yet, will do when I have more time, I will definitely test the save function....

  • Awesome man, congrats! A 450 model, these never actually came with a remote by the way, they came with a stupid touchpad thing on a cord since the 450 lacks IR functionality.

Never tried that adapter, I think that joypad is reasonably good. Most of the inresponsiveness comes from the system itself hah. I wonder what setting the Genesis controller will default to as the CD-i controllers have a speed switch for the cursor.

Thanks for the mention! Looking forward to you observations.

  • Cool! Well the adaptor for the Genesis pad actually has a dial on it which I assume is for the same purpose.....

FYI 2nd part is uploaded and encoding now, I show everything much more closer and in detail in the next video which should be available soon.

  • Ah, didn't know that about the adaptor, that sounds pretty neat then, especially since the controllers can be more expensive then the system itself.

By the way, have you tested it and does the system still keep your save data? That can unfortunately be a common problem with these things. Also really cool that you got the gun which can also be really expensive!
