  • CONTOUR IS SHIT

  • Nice vid!

  • where is the alpine climbing?

  • @infantesergio Just what I was thinking! lots of walking, scrambling, but no balls deep climbing

  • does it count as alpine climbing if you ride a cable car to the summit?

  • @whatsiteverwas lol, at first i was going to say it looks like a lovely walk in the park, thing is they didn't even do that to the summit. Winter mountaineering for couch potatoes.

  • @JedNZ 0:37 What's class 3–5? I don't understand, isn't this how all alpinists do it?

  • @whatsiteverwas Alpine climbing is more of a fast and light weight style of climbing where you take the bare essentials so that you can ascend to the summit and down faster as opposed to expedition styles. It doesn't really mean take a ride to the summit lol, i have a hunch this video is filmed while on a course? would make much more sense. Are you thinking of M1-3 graded climbing?

  • @JedNZ I was referring to the Yosemite Decimal System. Class 1 is walking, Class 5 is vertical climbing. 5.16 is theoretically the hardest climb. If I'm not mistaken, summitting can often involve class 3–5 climbing by the YDS. Not always. Were you to ascend the same face that the cable car does, you would be into Class 3 or 4 for sure.

  • Whole movie filmed with Contour ? From start to end?

  • Why are they roped up? So one person can pull the other person off if they fally?

  • my dog's name is chamonix, and i hope to go there some day, i have been to france just havn't had the chance to chamonix :)

  • I was just there. What a fabulous place. Would love to go back for a ski trip.

  • This video is rad. What an amazing experience to be walking up there!! Have to show B :) -Mikey

  • excellent footage,

we cannot upload on youtube at this quality though......

  • Thank You. Do you mean your ContourHD footage?

I'm in the middle of writing a tutorial on video compression and export for sharing on video sites.

Keep an eye on our blog @ pointofviewcameras website. I will post it there in the next day or two

    Mike

  • no, no, no sorry I have the POV and I can't have this quality on my uploads.

have a look in my page and you'll see what I mean by poor quality..

    thanks anyway !!!

  • Ahhh...I see. The footage will never look as good since the ContourHD resolution is 1280x720 and the POV1.5 is 720x480 (SD). Make sure you export at best possible quality before you upload.

Take a look at some of the VIO video in our channels to compare.

  • thanks, am on to it as we speak ....

  • looking forward to it ....

    thanks Mike

  • No problem!

  • where are your skis =D

  • hehehe..believe or not part of this ridge does gets skied during winter months

  • glad to hear it those are some pristine slopes

    great footage btw

  • thanks!

  • This looks like so much fun!!

  • It was a lot of fun. A bit nerve wrecking straight out of the gates though. - Mike

  • How long does the battery last?

  • The battery will lasts over two hours. Additional batteries are 29.95 so we always recommend carrying a spare battery.

  • just so that I am clear, this was completely shot with the countour HD? from start to fiinish, did you use any effects to brighten the quality at all?

  • Yep, filmed completely with the ContourHD with no effects used afterwards. :-)

  • Sweet! I really can't wait to go to the alps when I see this. It's just so beautifull up in the Alps, really nice vid guys.

  • 1 last question, what resolution/quality was it set to? 480p/720p/1080p???? and how long does the video last for, on average for the quality that was used, any help appreciated, it looks sick!!

  • looks like a great trip! cant wait to go climbing in the alps! looks like some good exposure

  • yeah the trip was fantastic. I will post another video from the area soon. exposure was full on right out of the gate. nothing like jumping right in. Can't wait to go back for some more climbing in the alps this summer. This time I will take the ContourHD 1080p and a GoPro HD

  • awesome! have fun. i would like to get one of them cameras they are really good.

cant wait to do some big wall climbing in alps:)

  • VholdR just released a firmware upgrade which enables you to configure the Video and Lighting settings on your ContourHD camera using the Configure Menu in the latest version of VholdRs Easy Edit™ Software.

With this firmware, you will be able to adjust the Video Bit Rate and Microphone Sensitivity as well as the Contrast, Exposure, Sharpness, and Metering.

  • Nice climbing.... This reminded me of "Lord of the Rings" except with more walking.

    Mike
