@FallingAndFant0m he modded it in using Halo Mapping Tools 3.5 and Halo hacking tools. he picked the campaign level in halo mapping tools (which had the flood captain keyes in it) picked the code, and set the setting to "actor". then he extracted it onto the desktop and injected it into HMT 3.5 thus making a new actor (flood keyes) and he obviously wither made it a projectile, or replacfed some objects with it. thats basically how he did it.

It HAS to be canon, since those writers needed permission from Bungie to make those books. Besides, Eric Nylund, the writer of most of the Halo books, is Bungie's writing head (or something along the lines of that). So, it must be canon since technically Bungie wrote those books.

The Fall of Reach might have been somewhat of a side project, but even Bungie said that it was apart of Halo's canon. How can First Strike be a side project? It was the first book to intro the BR, and no one even heard of the BR until the demo trailer that was released of Halo 2.
