  • cool idea, but where there are electronics, there are hackers. (not that any other thief couldnt just kick in the door) but still.

  • @JMilose The only way to hack it is to scan my key and copy the transponders code. It only transmits a few inches away. That or like you said, kick in the door.

  • Comment removed

  • actually you unlocked it with a car REMOTE, not a car KEY. TROLL

  • @vexelite77 No, I didn't use the remote. Read the description before you comment. That's if you can read.

  • nice set up (b'.')b

    lol

  • THE VIDEO SAYS HOW TO UNLOCK A DEADBOLT WITH A CAR KEY SO WHY DIDNT YOU SHOW HOW BECAUSE IF THATS WHAT YOU WERE GONNA DO THEN THE TITLE SHOULD BE DIFFERENT YOU IDIOT

  • @kierags1 I did unlock the door with the car key. Maybe if you could read and you read the description you would understand what is being done.

  • @kierags1

    ALL CAPS RAGE? Check.

Failure to understand the correlation between the title and what is shown in the video? Check.

Failure to read the description before submitting a poorly thought out comment? Check.

Ironically accusing the up-loader of being an idiot? Check.

God I love the internet and those who inhabit it.

  • you bastard

  • pretty cool. You should also get lockace.

  • That is awesome!

  • I use an allen wrench and paper clip

  • @inothome You know he is correct, the title does say a car key.

  • @dreamweaver961 Correct, and it is just the key. The key has the transponder inside it. Look it up.

  • What if you lose your key and you live alone

  • @AZNHARRYPOTTER98 then call a locksmith... DUH

  • when i 1st clicked this i missed the key part, i thought it said "How to unlock a deadbolt with a car" >:D

  • could this be done with a rfid enabled card? like a buscard ect?

  • @kickthetv643 As long as the frequency is the same and the reader can power the card. My reader can only power up small RFID tags, not cards.

  • ...wouldnt you unlock/lock your car everytime u open the front door?

  • @rlyNVme No, it doesn't use the keyless entry part of the key. It uses the transponder inside the key that the car uses as an anti theft feature.

  • @inothome i dont understand that at all...but i want one!

  • i thought you were gonna jam the key in there or something.

  • 500 years ago, people would claim "wizardry" "Magic!" or "sorcery" to something they couldn't understand - nowadays people are shouting LMAO, ROTF, and specially: FAKE!

nice system, dude! i don't know how to do it, but it sure looks interesting.

may i ask: is there any way you could feed the system with a back-up power source and then get rid entirely of the keys? - i don't know; like those old alarm clocks that had a 9V battery in case of power loss.

  • @HelenoPaiva Thanks!

The deadbolt itself is battery powered, only the transponder and STAMP are AC powered. I was thinking if using a picaxe controller instead of the STAMP if I ever wanted to go without AC power, since I think the picaxe has less draw. Honestly, once I got it up and running I lost interest in making it battery powered. I still use it everyday though.

  • i can get in the house from the rotten window so QQ

  • cute implementation. The RFID this was simple and cheap, but im still trying to find a way to do this with out:

A: modifying the door frame for an electronic catch.

B: obstructing the lock or knob on the inside with a motor.

C: damaging my ability to open the door with a key.

Did you ever solve any of these problems?

  • @scrybbla

    A: I didn't modify the door frame.

B: I used a commercially available actuator for the deadbolt, it still has the knob inside.

C: The key is still functional.

  • hey smart ass .. how do we know isn't someone behind the door to help ya

    :P:P:P

  • dead bolt locks are the electronic ones you scan ur 'key' to get in, so obviously ur gonna need a reader at the door. differant locks use differant frequencies so one key wont work with 2 locks but u just need something to send the same frequency, in this case car keys.

  • what do you do when power is out in your town and you need to be in u house ASAP

  • @cliffpizarro I keep a key in the car.

  • thats a cool idea

  • Not what I expected, but still pretty awesome.

  • so, if im locked out of my house, i have my car keys, im just gonna magically find a reader near my window?? Ahh well thanks man

  • @ItstheDrLove you don't have to be a douchebag just because the video wasn't what you expected.

  • u know someones gonna figure out how to disterb the signel to unlock it! its cool but not really safe

  • @dukejon91 They would need to get my car key and clone the transponder. It only transmits about 1.5 inches.

  • A reader? HUH?

  • not what I had in mind

  • What is the actual motor that you use to unlock the deadbolt?

  • @robodeath store bought powered deadbolt, forget the model. Some of the cars use 125khz, as does mine.

  • So the transponder keys out on 125khz? Do you use some sort of Arduino board or something to program it?

  • @robodeath Basic STAMP controller

  • dude, hope your power doesnt go out and you are only left with your car keys on you.....

  • there is a commercial option called "knocklock" and you can search youtube for "knock lock" to find vids from a guy who built one with an arduino.

  • chur thats the shit ;p lol

  • good idea.

  • Its just getting to easy these days. Whats next a clap senor .. Who needs keys !!

  • Haha actually there is a knock sensor that can detect a "secret knock" cadence and let you in.

  • that sounds relatively simple, but awesome!!

  • Can you explain the "READER"?

    Thanks!

  • Google 125khz rfid reader

  • hahahahahahahahaha

  • is it just be or does he look a little like GSP lol

  • Yea, I kicked BJ's azz.

  • 0:06 lol.

  • what if sum1 scanned the frequency that the key gave out. ?

then they could get your car and in youre house

  • Sure, the transponders can be cloned. But it only transmits an inch or so away.

  • ah so its not like others that can transmit like 10ft

    guess thats a good thing

  • It's the one that's in most cars keys these days. It's not battery powered so it's a very short range.

  • lol i thought he was gonna open the window with his car keys then climb in and open the door.

  • pretty cool, but does it open the car too?!

  • Of course, it's the car's key.

  • isn't it like the lightswitch with a remote?

a modem is on the deadbolt that flips it ????

  • No, it's a RFID reader that reads the transponder in the car key. There is nothing to push, just hold the key next to the reader in the window.

  • well cool

  • that does work, theres a old ppl flat behind my house and my ford key works, i went in there and got back out the same way

  • Its not fake you twats!

It only works for him because he programed it to do so,

  • Nothing fake about it.

  • lol

  • dude, cool... fuckin hawt!! ;)

  • how do you know the video is fake have you tried the lock?

  • wow very clever idea man makes carrying keys a whole lot more easy only downside is if u loose the key because no car and no house to get into then ^_^

  • You stupid shit. Yes, there is a motor moving the lock, he is using the remote to activate it.

  • dont mind him, some ppl are just really stupid and watch videos like brain dead zombies, the description says it all.

  • Dude he's not saying there isnt a motor moving the lock, thats the point. But i dont know anyone who has a reader like that.

  • ya that has got to be a V8 ford engine on that beast to open that lock! and i heard it go VROOM VROOM hahahahah i give proprs to the guy who made it. it would be safer for idk... young women or just when you get caught in the rain and dont wanna fumble with key+small hole

  • Why do videos like these always have everyone saying that it's fake? Why does something cool have to be fake? Is it because you don't have it so you have to say it's not real? LMAO =]

  • @MaegX3 Everything's "fake" when you're too stupid to figure it out :D :D :D

  • it'd be cool if it was already the key for your car so you don't have multiple keys.

otherwise an access card would be more nifty.

    not bad tho.

  • It is the key for my car, that was my whole reason behind doing something like this.

  • someones goin to break into ur house while sleeping and rob u lol

  • Each key has it's own unique code. It only works with the keys I program it to accept.

  • Uh, no, it's real. Do some research on RFID before you spout your lack of intelligence.

  • inothome is for real, you need equipment that can program RFID, RFID chips or transponder, and extra tools to ammend into item.

Technology are cool when you got money to burn for these things.

  • hood,

there might be someone in there but they have nothing to do with the vid.

you haven't seen the newer locks with remote and electric latch mechanism before? i'm not saying that's what he has but it could be.

you must get out more often, dude.

  • That must be the immobilizer ring from the ignition of a car, no?

  • No, it's a stand alone RFID reader tied to a STAMP microcontroller.

  • how u do that??

What do i have to buy to set than on my house...

  • thats kewl
