i really like your footwork. But I feel like in practice that much movement drains you way too much in a fight. Also I feel much less anxious when i don't hop around so much. But maybe you have better stamina
do u think they should have school that just teach boxing but in mma and or street??? bc in a basic boxing stance u stand kinda sideways that makes it easy for a take down or a kick to the leg. so in mma or street fight u should stand more square but still with good feet work. am i right?
@WHITENUT45 I think in boxing you have to teach it the best way to succeed in boxing, boxing is still a sport and not a street fight. In MMA the stance is bit different just like you say, and they do teach it that way.
To me.. the hardest part of boxing is getting good footwork.. then comes combo punches, then speed and stamina. But good footwork is everything even if you don't have a lot of power. If you can keep moving without losing your balance or without having to reset your stance... your on your way to being a good fighter.
This video helps.. but it all comes down to how hard you train.
@tripleVVV3 nice footwork there and your also very agile im gona try that when im sparring hopefully works. THANKS FOR THIS VIDEO AND KEEP IT UP WITH THE BOXING
It is a pleasure watching you, ONLY remember: when the ferocious OPPONENT helped by a better ENERGY (maybe only for that encounter) meets you or anyone, in the ring or ON THE STREET, you always gonna be amazed HOW in the world the "ferocious opponent" dominates you or me..... On that bad day, all training and feelings of being on top crumble like crackers..... It's all about who YOU meet, men !!!
When you go back mate, you're sometimes bringing your lead foot back before your rear foot - bringing them close together and therefore losing the stability of the stance. I noticed this because I do it sometimes too! (Trained by Steve Bendall, FSS Boxing Club)
This particular set of footwork is excellent for MMA. This is the type of footwork that Junior Dos Santos, The Nogueira Bros, Cain Velasquez, and BJ Penn all take advantage of. Very excellent instructions.
@Hackmoune If you wanna take on an MMA fighter you need to learn MMA. I've been doing some for the past year and if you don't know takedown defense, how to work in the clinch, or how to fight on the ground then you are in big trouble. MMA is a skillset and a philosophy, it's not about 'MMA fighters', it's about have a complete set of knowledge. I say try some MMA.
@tripleVVV3 Ok dude thanks, and yeah MMA is one hell of a sport, i love to watch it as for training i do some muay thai with friends but i consider myself a rookie i mean i am more of a streetfighter but i would like to train box with you man, the problem is im spanish but i will keep checking out some tips, good luck man.
@Haassan1 lol...I can see why you feel that way. If someone is to embark on a particular sport such as tennis, boxing, or hockey then i believe that you should commit all your efforts to that sport. However, since my competitive boxing days are behind me, I think it's important to be realistic and well rounded about martial arts and fighting in general. It would be close-minded of me to bypass MMA.
hey dude thanks for the information and as for doing this is effective on a real fight, well i think it depends if you´re going to do it against a boxer or against some windmill fighter with cero technique and boxing knowledge, if it´s the second case, of course this will work i mean i love windmills pussies cause is so easy to catch them out with some of these stuffs they always end up like "uh?". But yeah i agree you have to be more experienced if you wanna do this against a boxer.
i got to say my foot work is fast since i use to go to tae kown do i mix my foot work with that and my punches with boxing is some good combination to fight i havent loss not even once so if u are a good fighter you should try it
are you fuckin jokin you are shiiiiiiiiiiiiit . you bring your front foot nearly touchin your back foot your front hand is level with your chest no defense skills you are doing a lot of cow kickin standing square on hahahhahahha 10000000000000% SHIT. YOU DONT HAVE A FUCKIN CLUE YOU MORON
@kez0fnewcastle awwwww bro, i was checking out your vids, some stuff is pretty good. But is that you in the gray track pants hitting the heavy bag a couple years back. C'mon man, need I say more? It's obvious from that video that you don't know shit about boxing!!
@tripleVVV3 Sun they hatin your joints is official you got good speed and footwork and I bet you this nigga couldnt make you pay. A mistake aint a mistake if you cant make your guy pay RJJ Ali Sugar Ray Robinson all made mistakes. I checked out a few of your vids you def know boxing from a practical stand point and also from a teaching stand point kid...
@NINJUGGALOTUS I demo two types of lateral motion, one where I square up and one where I don't. They both have their purpose. watch Leonard vs. Hagler and you'll see where squaring up pays off for Leonard in the first few rounds.
@tripleVVV3 I agree with you 100 percent that this is a good way to train. I wouldnt neccesarily move around like this for 12 rounds in an actual fight. In a fight I would want to conserve some of that for punching. But it's good endurance training. At the same time the leggs are being trained to be springy and agile. I would actually prefer an hour of moving around like this as opposed to running five miles. Thanks. Good footwork. Keep the videos coming.
@simondgrass You guys need to understand the difference between training and fighting. In fighting, it's not recommended to bounce and move like I'm doing all the time. However, in training you want to drill and repeat footwork movement so that your body becomes accustomed to it. That's one reason why guys like Clottey and Cotto had trouble against Pacquiao, they can't keep up with his movement and punching pace. Watch how Pacquiao almost never stands still.
True Manny is constantly on his toes moving his weight from one side to another so i dont see any problem with bouncing constantly, just gotta tailor it to your own fitness
@Neotrigunnerx too much bouncing is a waste of energy, but i recommend bouncing a bit more in training so that you are conditioned to move on the balls of your feet without getting tired.
I'm only a skinny dude so I know I can't throw massive knockout punches. I wanna learn how to be fast how to have Ali like footwork so I can humiliate who ever faces me.
A question. Could you tell/show me how you use your feet when punching. For example when you throw a right cross. Some people say you should rotate your foot in the back, others say that you should slide it and some say both should be done. I am a bit confused.
You always rotate your back foot when you throw a right hand so that your hip can turn into the punch. When you have to move forward to hit your opponent you will do both a turn and a slide (it's technically not a slide, you should lift your foot a fraction off the ground). When you throw a right hand and your opponent is close enough that you don't have to advance forward, then you just turn your foot.
This is by far the most informative video i've seen on boxing footwork.... mad respects my dude. This is Definitely going into my favorites category. Two Thumbs up.
very helpful presentation tripleV. I sent you a message - I am trying to work on footwork for kickboxing...is there a video out there you'd recommend? much appreciated...
A lot of the footwork is similar for boxing and kickboxing, but there are a number of difference for kickboxing in setting up kicks and blocking kicks. the same rules don't always apply. i don't know of any good videos, but it would be better to learn from a coach or kickboxing trainer.
Awesome video, thanks for sharing. I think footwork is one thing that can never cease to improve in a fighter... However natural mine gets, it's always good to take in few hints and try out new ideas. Good footwork really does give you the edge in all sorts of fighting disciplines.
Moving to the right (east) with the lead leg in front is not easy at first. Just keep workin' at it. A little drift is ok as long as you control the distance between you and your opponent.
Awesome video - I practice Muay-Thai and I find that I need to practice more foot movement when facing a brawler, though I tend to brawl a lot myself.
Very good video! Always stay light and on the balls of your feet. Sometimes I see guys who keep their lead foot practically flat on the ground and when they step out, they land heel first, then roll to the front. I think this method is much too clumsy and slow. It's better to stay on your toes like in this video.
Watching your video again. I think your gonna have to add an annotation and explain that pivot. I always have some problems teaching it to less coordinated people. You do it so fast.........
Thanks man. If you ever go down there your gonna feel really bad for these kids. No equipment, no facility, and the coaches suck but of course tourisim thrives. All you see is hotels and beat up houses.
Whats up brother. Have you seen Vitor Belfor's footwark video? It's pretty good for a non boxing video. I posted a video response just to get some views from my training session with some kids in Curacao. Hope you dont mind.
Hey, I haven't seen his vids, but I remember an interview with him where he said he wanted to get into boxing. I'm sure what he has to say is valuable.
Nice vid! I'm sure in Curacao they don't have the kind of instruction that you can offer. Ur stuff must be like gems to them. props.
great stance good movement but u dont need to move so fast ur gonna lose all ur eneregy so u wont have no energey to throw a punch lol anyways nice vid
Would you mind posting a vid on sharpening youe eyes and reflexes? Also reaction punches and counter combinations with another person so we can see it first hand slowly? that would be nice
Bro You should do a footwork video where you break everything down, its hard to find anything on footwork or defense thats taught good and you seem like you'd be an excellent teacher.
There's alot of years in those feet! Obviously well studied, great rhythm, the only thing i want to know about is the habit you have bringing the lead leg back a bit too far for a toe touch?
Sound technique.

Ur stuff must be like gems to them. props.

Been training about 10 years, had about 20 fights back in the day (last fight 2004). How about you, your movement is quick.
