  • Greetings from Poland! Keep up the good work. :)

  • These people had helped me in so many ways without judgement, I had been homeless vet, with mental issues steming from Gulf war. If I had missed the regular free meals one of the churches, they'ld always be there for me. I was sure to eat. Every once in a while they would lesten to my woos of the street life, and gave me a hug. I am now substnce free and live in my own house, my goal in life is to help the needy and down and out, to give hope and love to the people that need them most!

  • As a native Californian....3 generations to be exact....we live in one of the highest cost of lving states there is...as in, gasoline, food, housing, clothes, neccesities, etc....why?? all of that ocean front prop I guess. We live in a state where the cost of living usually exceeds the monthly income of a lot of families. We have become a state rich and poor.

  • food should be free...not a privelege!!!may the goodness of human nature always prevail!!!

  • The main reason there is so much homelessness is because there is no funding for mental health. It really makes no sense not to house and feed the homeless because they usually will end up in jail and we have to house and feed them there.

  • Richmond Virginia Food Not Bombs! (RVA FNB)

i personally would like to add that, as an atheist and a teenager, food not bombs has been a great place to go to participate in direct action, community service, whatever you want to call it, as well as be exposed to radical ideas and consensus based problem solving. I've met a lot of cool people, local anarchists and hitchikers, low income people and college kids & together we've been fighting the city to keep the park we serve in open, good people

  • Dumpster Diving for the win!

  • excellent.

  • troll

  • I love these people. They fed me when I was on the streets right here in San Francisco. I remember how the soup kitchen had bullshit, and how the homeless couldn't wait for these guys to come out. They usually came out every evening. To tell you the truth, these guys aren't just good people they are damn good cooks also LOL. I would always go back to the line for seconds on the bread so that I could have food for the night. I'm off of the streets now, and as I look back, I think that they were

  • ...continued - they were the best people to me. They are people of my generation, and I am so fucking proud of them. The love I have for them is extreme. I am vegan btw, and I have been for many years now.

  • you people are heroes!

  • dan the Vegan is a Hero too !

    check out his Amazing channel

    LIFE REGENERATOR

  • Hello all from Melbourne Florida Food Not Bombs!!! xoxo Peace xoxo

  • SPREAD THE WORD!

  • Keep up the good work guys!!!

  • Excellent video. Bravo to these people who do this. I agree, Food not Bombs.

  • Western Canada also has a Food Not Bombs organisation that is supported by local merchants and restaurants. They do excellent work.

  • Stop Cruelty!-Go Vegan!!!

  • Tell that to lions. They're "cruel"

  • "not an act of charity"? are you fucking kidding me? ignoring the element of charity and humanitarianism in food not bombs makes our work sound self-serving and delusional, as if the only reason we do this is to advance a bunch of esoteric ideologies and lifestyles.

  • Charity is not humanitarianism. Charity implies an act of kindness from someone above to those 'below' merely because they can afford to seem humanitarian. Food Not Bombs is not an act of charity. It's not alms giving. It's people giving out what many people need. Charity is what's self-serving an delusional. Solidarity isn't.

  • when is this filmed?

  • you are such an idiot!!!!!!!!!!War is AWESOME????Fuck You and the woman who gave birth to you...IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I suppose you're a peace activist?

  • Are you FUCKING kidding me!?

  • I'm going to start helping with Food Not Bombs Trenton. :]

  • kencat, i know you're vegan, so if animals werent treated the way they are treated under capitalism, would you eat meat?

i personally eat meat, but i hate the way animals are treated, so when i move out (which is gonna be a long time from now cos i have to study), im gonna cut down on all that stuff and become more "vegetarian" (i'll still eat fish)

  • Wow, that's a very good question.. Capitalism does bring the cruelty to animals because the companies slaughtering them do it for money, therefore doing it the cheapest way possible.

  • If I was born into an Anarchist society, I might have eaten meat but now vegetarianism is a habit for me.

Also, it's not only about animal cruelty. Health (less bad fat, less acne, etc), finance (meat is expensive), the environment (this may change once capitalism is done with, though meat factories destroy our air, water and earth), ethics (not eating an animal that once lived).

I really respect those who grow their own animals or hunt, those animals are free for most of their life.

  • well, japanese diets consist of mainly fish and vegetables, and its one of the healthies diets i think.

the main reason i chose to eat meat is because animal proteins are different from vegetable proteins, and these proteins are necessary for certain things. thats what i have heard at least. i dont know if you know anything about this.

as for the fat, its good for you in small amounts, and if you work out constantly like i do i dont think its a problem.

  • The part about the fat is true -- however, you can get the right amount of fat from other foods (beans, cheese, tofu, nuts, cheese, etc).

  • i didnt know you could get fats from beans and nuts, thats really interesting. i have heard that there is a type of nut that is high in selenium also, so you might want to check that out. selenium is found in fish normally and is necessary for brain development.

i didnt know you ate cheese.

  • Oh, well I'm vegetarian (instead of vegan). Veganism is hard because you either have to take supplements are eat more of the same food to stay healthy.

Yes, selenium is found both in fish oil and in flax seed oil (which can be taken alone which tastes like shit, in a pill which is fine or just by eating seafood).

  • well, thats cool. id like to go mroe vegetarian, but my parent will always cool meats because they like em (well, id still eat fish). they cook good and healthy though, so im not complaining, lol. we eat pretty healthy in europe in general.

  • That's great. In Amerika, many people eat the vile shit out of McDonalds and Burger King... Three times a day, every day.

  • You can get all the complete proteins you need from a vegan diet: beans, nuts, legumes, whole grains, and soy products are all good sources of protein. You can also use protein powder if you want more protein in your diet. I use rice, hemp, or pea protein because I lift. Technically you should consume a B12 and iodine supplement if you're vegan, but 1) it's a small price, and 2) you can be healthy without getting exact numbers of vitamins every day. :)

  • well, i eat cerial with b12, so that isnt a problem.

the problem is i live with my parents, i have to study a lot, and i dont have time to ether cook or learn to cook. it's not really that easy to become vegan for some people. its going to require a big change in the conditions we are living under for us to be able to change our lifestyles.

  • @god0fmusic theres only one way to change.. is changing.. all the shits u can put up are just bulshit n tricksters from your mind.. just change.. done.. :)

  • Keep up the good work! I'm working on starting one up here too!

  • really great. illustrates principles coherently!

  • Workers of all lands unite.Let us all help to speed the day when this earth is held in common for the benefit of all humanity.

  • Why is it that 85% of homeless people were once in the military? What do you think that means? I thought people like you supported the troops...

  • iwould say that number is harder to swallow then an out of date bagel with dumpser casserole. do you expect me to believe that for every 20 people in line at fnb, only 3 wern't in the military.that number, like bush's approval ratings, is way way way wrong.

  • My mistake, what I meant to say was that 1 out of 4 homeless people are veterans, 85% of them were in vietnam. Many of them are homeless because of trauma in war that caused mental problems(my mom works at a VA clinic and she is seeing the same thing with the Iraq veterans)Btw, fnb is not liberal...Why would the gov. say support the troops but do the exact opposite of what they say?

  • how many vietnam vets do you think wanted to just get home and go on with their lives, only to be spit on and called babykiller by anti war activists.funny how we didn't have a bunch of troops losing it after WW2.oh yeah, they were treated as heros.seeing some of this same trauma today huh..wonder why.

  • Well the difference is that in WWII we won so people were happy to see them. The veterans from vietnam were pretty much forgotten and swept to the side by the gov. and people. Also, in viet. and iraq wars the enemy could be anyone which may play a role in ptsd. WWII was a different time, people did not talk about the war...The gov. spits on them everyday by ignoring them!

  • In WW2 we were also fighting a fascist dictator named Adolf Hitler. Perhaps that was the reason they were perceived to be heros. In Vietnam and now Iraq we were/ are killing babies. We kill so- called insurgent also, but we kill mostly innocent civilians. And I believe it's their own conscience not the anti-war movement. Wouldn't you feel bad if you fought a war and then discovered the reason you were fighting to be a lie?

  • Whether or not you agree with Food Not Bombs is up to you but at least they're taking action in a cause in what they believe in. Which is something I can't say about you, Nicklessjones. You must have a lot of guts to post negative comments about people that donate time and money to help one another while sitting on your ample butt all day bashing the "liberal" media.

  • Do these people look like they are the type to follow a trend? They don't look like trendy people to me...I think that having the schools open for "business" is a lot worse than the malls... Also I seriously doubt that they listen to green day...you seem to know very little about this oreganization and the people in it...

  • nicklessjones, it's called caring about your fellow human beings!

ps. greenday ... lol ... are not vegan or punk rock. They're mainstream apolitical corporate/mtv mall-core and they're mostly apolitical ;)

  • argh, typo... but you know what I meant

  • There is nothing wrong with helping someone. It's a set standard, or a moral objective, for all of us. We've learned that capitalism ruins lives, and in a capitalist system, reaching out is a must. We must reach out to the homeless that are ignored by our selfish government. We must take action because we've gone astray from the government and system that teaches us desolation. See through their lies and volunteer, and help, and care. Because life is more than taking shortcuts to happiness.

  • So because I want to help people who can't help themselves, I am a commie?

  • beautiful

  • this is awesome - how can i get involved?

  • google for yout local chapter in your area if thier none then start up one try meetup(dot)com

  • i think food not bombs is great.

i have been think about joining a group but i don't know where to start cause i'm only 13

  • What city are you located then? I can get the email addresses and phone numbers for your local FNB if you want to help out.

  • Oh yeah!! What a beautiful thing. What a crime that this "greatest country in the world" needs volunteers to beg others for food to feed the hungry.

  • Great video. -Salem, Oregon FNB

  • fnb is a truely remarkable movement. one that i'm proud to be a part of!

  • hell yes, long live FNB

    end capitalism!

  • I agree :)

  • yes, lets go to communism. they do everythign right. stalin, kim jong ill. capitalism is so stupid, thank god geniuses liek you exist

  • FNB does not advocate communism, but a form of socialistic movement cooperated with elements of anarchism and utopianism. Do not accuse the organization if you do not understand it.
