I actually liked the old dick dale guitar soundtrack a lot better than the new soundtrack. It was not so cheesy and had a creepy and intense feel to it which was a great fit for a ride that is supposed to simulate traveling through space. It also did a better job at buiding up to the first drop after the 3 lifts.

Thanks to Disneyland's 2005 Space Mountain refurbishment, the ride here is much smoother than it's Magic Kingdom counterpart. Florida's still uses the old Matterhorn style that jerks you around, while Disneyland Park's creates a much better ride.

The old space mountain used to have an escalator to get in the line, but that was a long time ago. A lot of things changed at disneyland. They even have the merchandise for the crappy new shows on disney channel. I dont understand why they put shows about stupid teenage drama when they could have just kept mickey and his pals.

i was just at disneyland yesterday for the first time in 8 years. I was surprised at how much better the new space mountain is compared to the old one. The lighting and soundtrack actually make sense. The ride itself actually has a couple intense segments. WAY BETTER THAN THE OLD ONE

Fyi, the Paris Space Mountain sucks. It has a cheesy dome, has cheesy effects, has a cheesy soundtrack, and is the least exciting and spacy of all the Space Mountains. This one is the best one. Trust me. I have been on all SMs, and this one is the best!

This ride must have been updated recently. This video was taken 2 years ago, and I went on it last week. This is a WHOLE lot different. This looked AWESOME. By reading the comments and seeing the lights on video, it had black holes and everything!

My expenience was just plain dark and strange. I mean really.... Ghost Galaxy?? What the heck is that?! This looked a whole lot more fun.

yea before the refurbishment of the ride, when they rebuilt it few years ago,, space mountian was much better,, it dont have the same feel no more,, u dont even see the planets or the black holes spinning and stars during the ride anymore,, now it just looks black,, and with out being scared of the outline shadow of the low bars, that would look like they were gonna knock ur head off, it just aint the same

Disney World's is really that lame? It kinda makes sense because I read that DW Space Mountain is based off of the Matter Horn's tracks, and MH is the slowest coaster at Disneyland.

Anyways, this ride is the second best ride at Disneyland!(first is Splash Mountain)

Just not the same as the original. They should not have changed it. I first went to Disney WORLD in '73 as a child and stayed at the Contemporary (still remember the room). I went to Space Mountain when it opened in '7_? The semi-cheesy '70s "space" feel was so cool. I can still remember those asteroids and space station being projected onto the ceiling. But now, why rock music in space?? Why does it need to be a carnival ride or something out of a county fair??

Wow! I guess it is true. The new refurbished Space Mountain at Disneyland you really can not see the track. The original, even though it was in the dark, the track was a little visible. It sounds like you are having fun since the frame is basically black most of the time.. I am told that holographic asteroids fly by and there are more winkling and shooting stars. I hope the refurbished Disney World Space Mountain will be a cool improvement as well.

No, I've been on it millions of times before, trust me there are zero flips, it's super smooth and fast and all you really do is go straight and then turn and turn and turn, it's a really awesome ride though!
