jackscal; with all due respect, I am a meat-eater and fully aknowledge where my food comes from. In other words, an animal must be killed so that I can provide myself with sustenance. I once had to visit a local abatoir as part of my work-experience with my local Council so I HAVE seen how its done. It would be hypocritical of me to condemn real animal killings when I eat meat, don't you think? The same could be said for CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST-but it IS unfortunate they don't use special effects.

The German trailer shows a lot more and is considerably more graphic, but this is a wonderful time-capsule of early 70's grindhouse distribution. The film itself is also very good; stylish, gory, sureal and erotic. Definately one of Paul Naschy's better films, alongside WEREWOLF SHADOW and HORROR RISES FROM THE TOMB. The film itself would probably be cut in the UK by the BBFC due to the scene of real rats being incinerated with a flaming torch!

@eibon81 it`s sad these great films totally ruin themselves by being cruel to living creatures.

how can you morally say this is a good fim and you enjoyed it, or search with pride for an uncut version knowing some animal suffered and died a painful death for your fun?

fantasy gore and make up is great, but there was no need for these scenes what so ever, for me this fim looks "great" but it was is ruined by this callas action, which is a shame for the fim and shame on its makers for doing it!

Once again I will say we need a U.S uncut DVD release of Hunchback. I have an old 80's VHS of it released by All Seasons Video. It was cut and retitled The Rue Morgue Massacre.

Quite a few of his DVDs were released by BCI / Eclipse in the U.S. They just went out of business recently

We need a U.S dvd release of this gore classic,I saw it in the theater in 1972 and it's great.The goriest spanish film ever mad,all of Paul Nashey's films are on dvd except this.. his best film!.

Hey man, I'm from Spain and I'm a big fan of Paul Naschy's work. This film is my favourite film from Naschy, and I own the spanish release in DVD. If you want it I'm sure you can buy it from Amazon or wathever... Greetings from Spain, I'm glad you enjoy spanish horror.
