Clearly the large yacht was supposed to yeild. BUT that large yacht isn't 100% at falt because the USCG rules dictate you must do any and all things possible to avoid a collision... In those conditions to have an accident like this with passengers, neither captain is worth what i left floating in the bowl this morning..

this is common in croatian waters (notice the flag). tourists from the Czech Republic and Russia come, rent boats, and drive them without much knowledge...ive witnessed smaller boats going around in circles without any passengers at full speed, until they crash into the shore -.- silly tourists

I realize that the small boat has the right of way, but being a boater myself, I see plenty of fools out on the water who have no knowledge of the rules of marine navigation.

So, before I ever let anything like this happen to me, I just simply change course or back off of the throttle and let the other boat go on their way.

The boat with the guy taking the video was in the wrong. The boat approaching is on that vessels starboard side. You always give way to another powerboat approaching on the starboard side. The approaching vessel did not have to yield or change course. But ultimately both are complete idiots not to avoid an avoidable collision.

@projectsaa3 I agree- a boat have to give way to boats from starboard, however as you say both ships have a responsibility to avoid collision, and the way they should do that (unless anything else is agreed upon between both vessels) is for both to go to starboard. (Im guessing you know this, but in case anyone dont, i thought it would be nice to inform them ;) )

I had the pleasure to see the smaller yacht cut apart last year...the larger of the 2 yachts was in the wrong though (not that it matters in Turkish waters) as you give way to starboard vessels.
