We give these fools free medication that many law-abiding people can't even afford. Those meds, in addition to on ground medical staff and psychiatrists cost a ton of money as well. Not even a fraction of the folks who can breeze thru a law enforcement academy could last the first week in military training unless they are prior military you know? In Cali prisons many cell blocks still have the bar cells instead of dorms or metal doors . Inmates can make many weapons to throw at the officer , one being a dart with black widow poison on the end of it . Inmates are some of the smartest people around . Hell i learned how to do my job from the inmates .

I've been doing this for 15 years... CHP isn't a "fellow agency", a fellow agency is Nevada DOC or Texas DOC (for example). Those guys are squared away and for the most part we are too. I don't compare myself to them and never have. It's like apples and oranges, except that our paychecks come from the same coffers. When we compare, we sound like we are trying to "justify" ourselves. The academy isnt bullshit. Im sure it pales in comparison to the military but they do their best to prep you for an absolute hellish job. People will probably not believe me, but I am the very first graduate from the academy at Galt(2-9-83). Prior to that date, the academy at CRC Norco was lax, but when they switched to Galt, they adopted a Para-military Style academy. Its not as easy as it looks
