  • ive been doing this for years but been tucking my tail in through my loops ,great video

  • Shorten the pegs jackass!

  • @Adamj190 Thanks for the constructive criticism, Mr. nice person.

  • @Adamj190 Classy.

  • I will have to try this. I am curious as to how secure it would be.

  • You can do the same thing with smaller amounts of 550 by using your thumb/little finger and doing the figure 8. Put a loop over your L. thumb and begin. I've done 50' this way.

  • Cool Nice Vid

  • you could put a nail where you put the loop at first so you dont have to hold it

  • put a nail in the board and put the loop over it so you don't have to hold it there.

  • Nice Trick you've got there.

  • Its a basic over 500 year old Japanese "Hojojutsu" technique. Traditionally it was about 35ish feet long. But of course traditionally it was not paracord. Its a good basic skill. However a person should train to do this between their thumb and baby finger ( this allows for in field preperation capabilities) and the lead should be long enough to go from tip of middle finger to the joint in your elbow, which allows for various methods of fastening. But thank you or the alternative!~peace!~

  • Cool set up but I think my dowels will be a little shorter, you seem to be fighting with them as you are winding the cord. LOL.

  • in my experience a "fast rope" is the rope used in black hawk helicopters that soldiers rappel down from, this is just a bundle that you use whipping to hold together.

  • I keep several short hanks for that very reason!

  • I see the value if you need 70 feet all at once but if you only need 6 feet your outer wraps begin to loose their ability to hold the inner coils together. Good idea though for storage. Thanks for sharing.

  • @whoknew72 Yeah, I usually keep a couple of small 5-10' ones hanging off my pack just for that.

  • wouls it not be an idea putting the loop on the peg??

  • @crsmit You can, if that makes it easier for you. This video was just a suggestion of how to do it.

  • wonder if this will work with them orange extention cords that seem to always be tangled up.. need to try that some day

  • @AgentRoadkill Yeah, as long as you make it big enough where they have room to flex.

  • @goingprepared tried it with a shorter cord (25'-ish) and noticed that the wire gets bent too sharp, that is not good. like you were saying, uses like 100' wire to make a bigger bundle so the wire don't get bent too sharp

  • Good vid ... from time to time I've wondered how this was done and now I know. Thank you.

  • good idea. What's handy about that is when you're in the field, you can just jam two sticks in the ground and go!

  • i wanted to buy some of your rope but your website would not load

  • @rowewoman We are switching servers. It is down until tomorrow.

  • whats the point

  • ask for permisson? your a grown ass man who cares what they think

  • @mbc14k It's called 'respect' and grown men show it. It's one of the ways we earn it.

  • @bill65761 ur not a grown ass man.. anymore 59 u fucking senior ollollllolololloollolloollollollolol

  • I use this method for shorter lengths, wrapping the rope around my thumb and little finger. Works great. Never thought of using a jig to accomplish the same thing with longer lengths of rope. Thanks for the video

  • @Woodenarrows Yeah, I like to make short ones to hang off my pack, but this is useful for when you don't want to cut down longer lengths.

  • Stick a nail in your 2x4 to set your starting loop over. Then you don't have to hold it.

  • Pro tip: If you're in a hurry, you can do this utilizing your thumb and pinky.

  • @iMartger I might have to try that to make a mini fast rope. Good idea.

  • Is there a big deference between 7 and 8 strand paracord

  • @Savvycitizen51773 One strand is it. That strand gives another 50 lbs of strength, assuming all of the materials are the same.

  • @Savvycitizen51773 it's actually 14 and 16 strand each one of those bigger strands is made up of 2 mini strands but no all it does is give it more strength

  • I read somewhere the length to leave is equal to some number of loops, I forget weather it was 3 or 4 loops. I imagine you could loop it all then back track the loops so you get a few dozen fraps around your cord. I am pretty sure the length of cord to be wrapped plays a part as well.

Like everyone has pretty much said great video.

  • Thanks man. I didn't want to make a cobra stitch cuz I didn't want to cut my paracord. I wanted one long length of rope. I got it. Thanks

  • Thank you so much for this video. I made a smaller version of this with my fingers instead of dowels and threw it on my key chain. It works great. So much better and faster than a survival bracelet. It also leave me with more length of cordage than a cobra weave bracelet. Thanks again!

  • @michaelangelocorreia That's how I like to carry/store my shorter pieces of paracord. I just grab the paracord in my hand and make Metal/devils horns and do the figure eights on my two fingers.:)

  • what are your charges for uk delivery?

  • @legomattww For what? Shipping is based on weight, so you can add the items to your cart and use the shipping calculator.

  • survival bracelets sux lol) great video

  • Check out my "Hanger Coil" video. This is essentially the same thing using an apparatus to assist.

  • Great idea. How did you know when to stop with the figure 8's? You seemed to have exactly enough cord to wrap the figure 8's.

  • @MongoWongo777 I had already made it once, so I just marked the spot on the cord where the figure 8s stopped. Normally, you would just cut off the excess.

  • GoingGear Rocks ! Great stuff and the fastest shipping I have ever seen. Thanks Dude

  • I guess the amount left for wrapping the figure eight length is a estimated guess. Nice video.

  • @biguy525 Well, you usually start off with a longer length, so you just cut off the extra. Since I had already made this one once, I marked the point where I stopped weaving the figure 8s. If you plan on repeatedly using your fast rope, marking the point is a good idea.

  • Cool! Thanks for the video!!

  • Thanks for making this video im gonna do this to my para cord in my b.o.b.

  • @mcneelyalex ya nobody cares

  • @reed338 i do ido

  • @reed338 i do

  • @mcneelyalex good for you :D
