@TimeLordGuitar. You're wrong. Firstly, the US Constitution considers bearing arms a fundamental human right, alongside freedom of speech and freedom from unreasonable search/seizure. Many moderates/liberals - like me - understand the value of this right. It was put in place to give people a weapon against a corrupt government, which is not that relevant in the modern US but is HIGHLY relevant in the corruption-laden Philippines. It's often the first step to fascism. Read a history book.

In my opinion- a catastrophic earthquake resulting in the death of thousands of people in Haiti is a much more important and more newsworthy subject than people in the Philippines having their firearms taken away. The American "right to bear arms" is often misinterpreted...we could debate on that issue forever.

@TimeLordGuitar Of course, I agree with you that this is a hugely important and critical issue and Haiti needs our monetary and political support, but that doesn't mean that other governments should be able to slip by unnoticed in passing potentially nefarious acts designed to disenfranchise their people. I seriously doubt the Philippine government banned firearms out of fear for civilians' safety.
