  • dog1...Money Honey...dat dee answer as to why dat iz !!!!!.....off course they'ed be at the end of a very long line! ...but I agree. 100%

  • Thanks for the great memories with this great classic!! Thank you so so much for sharing!!!Lee

  • Indeed..Webb and Carl have been ignored ..very sad

  • What a great singer and a real heartthrob.

  • I think a lot of it had to do with bullshit poltics.

  • Hard to believe that Brenda Lee and Elvis were put in Country Music Hall of Fame before Carl Smith and Webb Pierce. Figure that one out.

  • RIP Carl Smith, another star in hillbilly heaven.

  • Safe journey Mr. Carl Smith

  • goodbye carl smith q deus o tenha adeus

  • RIP Carl Smith your music will always be remembered.

  • God Bless you Carl Smith! I was just reading all about you the other day! I hope you are meeting your savior and singing for him! I hope we have more like you!

  • He was one of my favourites and i just got the news he passed on.RIP Carl

  • RIP Carl, thanks for all the wonderful music.

  • Seriously an underated Honky Tonker from the old days. He is right up there with Ray Price in my Book!!!!!

  • hi- carl smith was one of my best singer, please see my youtube posting texlavallee and web, site texlavallee

  • I don't have inside info on why Carl quit early but he probably got shafted.

When Elvis Ricky and the Everlys invaded country music the only stars who survived were Marty Ray, Webb, and then along came Buck and possum

Radio quit playing Carl and Red Foley. Red only had one chart hit after 1955, except for duets with Kitty.

Carl continued recording as long as he could, but had to accept the writing on the wall, retiring to his horse ranch. Today he cries about it. All the way to the bank.

  • I loved it!!

  • I love this song.

  • GREAT 5 STARS

  • Thanks for posting these. Many a Saturday night I sat up in the back row at the Ryman watching these great performers do their shows. Late at night after Prime Time radio on WSM they changed Stars about every 15 minutes. Each 15 minute segment had different sponsers. Thanks, again for the memories.

  • I heard he has a horse farm near Nashville. He refuses to perform any more. Does anyone have any more information on him?

  • It's a pity. He's still gorgeous at 80. Why he ain't a gettin' it is anyone's guess.

  • His horse ranch is by Franklin, Tn. Someone posted him singing real recently. Look under carl Smith and the song is I Overlooked an Orchid. He is old but he can sing..

  • what happened with him ?

  • He had his own TV show on CFTO in Toronto in late 60's and early 70's on Friday night. We were glad to have him.

  • what a good performer/singer. Thanks

  • Carl Smith, early in the '50's, was always in the Top 10 with his recordings - and then, he went to Canada. (Slim Whitman did a smiliar exit - he went to England.) Several years ago, after all the other major recording stars of the '50's had been given their awards, they finally got around to giving Carl his and they didn't even invite him up on the stage. He stood in the audience and received a thundering applause from his fans.

  • For what it is worth, I consider Carl Smith to be an icon in country music. Although some folks might question his motives, his early "retirement" deprived us all of what might have proven to be a peerless career. His LP, "Sunday Down South," with the Carter Sister and Momma Maybelle, may well be the best gospel collection ever produced. Regrettably, his full repertoire of recordings does not seem to be readily available. Doc Woody, Troubadour

  • @13013Woody Woody check with the Ernest Tubb Record Shop in Nasville. Go to the website and order a catalogue. you will be amazed at what they have.

  • If anyone has any footage of The Townsel Sisters on the Grand Ole Opry I wish you would post it. They were on 1959/1960.

  • Anybody got, The Tall Tall Gentelman, think he recorded it in early sixties

  • Yes, I like "If Teardrops Were Pennies" but I also like-"Deep Water", "Are You Teasing Me","Lets Live A Little", Let's Walk Away Strangers", "Loose Talk" and "Foggy River" among many other Carl Smith songs. I DO HAVE many Carl Smith songs on tape, including these. I have not mastered this video game yet, but when I get the time, will try to do so. Thanks for ALL these great videos of the old time singers, the TRUE country/western artists.

  • i looked for grand ole opry films for years, finaly gave up.,

thanks youtube and all yall that posted a video.

    was raised on it.

  • I think he actually sings this song better here than on the hit record. He's got that vocal inflection in "with the wro--ong one" that he didn't do on the record.

  • A great talent. My favorite Carl Smith song is "If Teardrops Were Pennies" Does anyone have that one on tape? Sure wish there was more from Carl on here.

  • I have several Carl Smith songs on my computor.if you wish I,ll let you know which

  • thx for sharing

I love his song with june: "time's a wasting" ^^
