  • =D So cuuuute, so brilliant

  • brilliant video. the end will be great. i love it all. the rat is soooooooo adorable! it seems like the video was fun to do. dont listen to these dumb people who are wasting too much of their time on the computer commenting on videos that they don't like. obviously they don't appreciate the time that goes into creating entertainment. great songs by the way as well. thumbs up!! :}

  • I can see your rat is really socialized. Be careful what you allow rats to get into. I had one find some scented soap once - She ate some and died. =(

  • Fantastic film!And wonderful actors!

  • realy well done 5*

  • that rat, is adorable. I have one thats the same kind. he's a big just like yours lol

only, he'll never eat anything. will just stash it until it's little home is full of food.

  • it's a muzak version of 'Blackbird' by the Beatles

  • No i mean the third song. 2:50 onwards.

    Thats so age of mythology!

  • Just wondering how your floors could be so shiny.... :-)

  • hehe looks like a really good turn out, great job! and i know this is a little *ahem* late =P but congrats on getting best director!

  • Wow! Rats are smart :D And I love how you had a camera in his little present box house.

  • wow amaizing well done

  • Absolutely adorable. Loved it and chuckled all the way through it. Great film work and editing and good choice of music. If you still want a critque...I am not too sure about ther last few seconds of the ending...a bit abrupt. Perhaps needs to show more of the cat as the finale.

  • GOD ! Get a life dudes!

  • nicely edited and very nicely composed video shots. you must be a pro. good luck in the competition.

  • Beautifully created!

  • very sweet - 5 stars! Merry Christmas :)

  • Awsome! I wouldnt have got my animals to do it! :)

  • Cant blame him for stealing cookies, must make sure Santa has plenty when he visits, or huh when he gets the munhies lol lol thank you for sharing

    bunnies rule!

  • Wow good job video. Keep it up.

  • lol so cool this was

  • you have a very well-trained ratty there. =)

  • good job

  • the rat isn't really hungry!?ha?

  • That's great! I'm happy for you :) You definitely deserved some sort of reward for the hard work in this video :D

  • How did you go at the festival?

  • What a wonderful christmas tree!

Sorry but I have seen the vid.number 2.

  • oh my gosh! aww this video is very cute and clever! you also made a good choice of music!

I love love love it and I favourited this video and I'm sure I will favourite the finished movie!

  • Thanks very much! Sad to say the second part isn't half as good, but it should be up in a week or so.

  • I like it the way it is. I wouldn't change a thing!

  • wow, your rat was very well trained! I'm lucky if I can get mine to sit still.

  • remind me look alike a tom and jerry on the tv cartoon show

  • Thank you so much for this! I have 9 rats and I'm absolutely certain it would take me months of shooting and a lot of cream cream to coax my uncooperative creatures into something like this! Really amusing and heartwarming. I love the entire movie. I'm thrilled. How did the film festival go with it?

  • Thank you very much for your kind comment! I'm glad you really enjoyed watching it! Acually, the film festival isn't until Feb 28, and the finished movie isn't due until Feb 1st. I am still in the process of completing this movie. Be sure to stop back in Feb 1st when it's done, though! Thanks again!

  • thanks for the advise, it really helped!

  • that rats a hungry beast lol

  • that is halarious! i am doing a project on rats and was just looking around and found this and sent it to my teacher and she said it was funny!

  • Awesome! Glad you both enjoyed watching it! Thanks for sharing the video! If you're looking for a really nice series of rat videos for your project, type in "Ratlife" in the search bar. Ratlife is one word. It's about a group of real lab rats that were relased outside and had to learn how to survive.

  • Omg, it´s great!!! I love it!

  • I loved it!

  • Aww that was great. I never had the chance to film my rat, so I really enjoyed it. Bit dubious about the upcoming cat scenes. lol. My cat was good with my rat though. Zutti used to crawl all over her and she'd just lay there. lol.

  • haha its great

  • Thanks!

  • It is great!

I am a big fan of your videos.

I hope you win the film festival!

  • Thanks! I hope I do too!

  • I LOVED it. I especially loved the inside view of Opal's 'house'. That was really cool:) Opal is such a cutie!!

  • Thanks for your comment! Opal is cute - if only she would cooperate!

  • I have a suggestion for a song: "In the Hall of the Mountain King" should go well with this video. If you choose not to use it that is fine to.

  • I know exactly the song you're talking about! I'll try to work with it and see what happens, but I can't guarantee anything.

  • It was an excellent video but i think that the picture quality needs a little touch up.

    Your rat is soooo cute!

  • Very true. My camera is a little old.

  • very well made. It must have taken alot of patience, but well worth it. Wouldn't change a thing

  • Thank you very much.

  • I love it!

  • Glad to hear it! Thanks!

  • Going to be a winner 5/5*****can't waite to see the finish.

  • Thanks! I hope I do well! I haven't quite started on the second half yet :) Some of the presents in the video were unwrapped during Christmas. Now I have a present shortage!

  • Thank you for sharing. I liked it, not good at being a critic. Enjoyed the black cat and jaws combo.. lol cute.

    bunnies rule!

  • Thanks! I like the jaws part too :)

  • What a cute video!!! How in the world did Opal eat ALL of that stuff and not explode? amazing. 5* from me.

  • Thanks so much! Opal is very greedy. She'll take anything you hand to her.

  • i think the part where the rat going to and fro should be mixed with the part wher the cookie gets missing (the part ; time 2:15 until 4:06 should be mixied i think)

  • I thought that myself. I'll have to see about that. Thanks for commenting.

  • Thank you for commenting and rating! Yes, I do love my pets. I'm sorry... I cannot understand the second half of what you were trying to say.

  • Heh heh, it sounds like you haven't written it yet!

I don't like cats so it's wouldn't have a happy ending (for the cat that is!).

The cat's going to end up taking the rap for the rat's misdemeanours !

  • That last sentence was dead on :) It's not that I haven't written it yet - just haven't filmed it yet, so there's still plenty of room for everyone's suggestions!

  • Very professionally shot and edited. The biscuit scene may be slightly long but without knowing the final length of the completed film and the relevance of that section it's difficult to say. 5* from me!

  • Thanks! I'm considering shortening it, but that decision will be made when I get the rest of the footage.

Here's a question - What do you expect to happen in the second half?

  • In the spirit of Christmas, it could have an ending depicting peace in the "jungle" with the cat and rat dining together from the same plate. Although having the cat take the rap would be funny.

  • As for the ending, I was thinking about something more along the lines of having the cat wear reindeer antlers and having the rat laugh at him :) But we'll see how that turns out. When you're working with animals, you have to realize that they don't always do what you plan for them to do!

  • It is possible to do both though :)

  • Well, whatever is decieded, you obviously have an audience! :)

  • Ahaha! OMGosh! That was so cute! I cant wait for part II!

  • I'm glad you liked it! Thanks for commenting! It should be completed in a few weeks.

  • Wow! Very good video.

And I had 2 pets rats 4 years ago. I cant wait to see the next part.

My recommendations are same as most people said. A bit too long at the beginning and adding scene with cat sleeping while the cookie house get destroyed would be more exciting! :D

  • Thanks! Just curious... how long did your rats live?

  • Creative and very cute; great cinematography; good music. However, I felt 1:17 was too long to wait for "action." If I wasn't curious enough I would have lost interest. Also, the Soprano's-like ending seemed suddenly clipped and left me disappointed and wanting more. Music buildup had me expecting interaction between rat/cat. Thanks for sharing - I enjoyed it. I'll definitely check back for Part 2! Not your typical rat's nest. : )

  • Thanks so much for your feedback, especially since I don't believe you're one of my subscribers! I know 1:17 is long... very long. I just didn't start right away because the beginning is where I will show the credits in the final. Maybe some people will have issues with my Christmas tree filming :) As for the sudden clipping at the end, I haven't filmed anything past that point, so I really had no choice :) Sorry I can not give you a due date of the final at this point. Thanks again!

  • It's as awful as you are.

  • Well... I'm pretty awesome, so thanks!

  • Very nice. I like the music, good cinematography, and nice looking stars. :3 The rat living in a present seems a bit of a mystery, will that be explained later? (As in, wouldn't someone try to open it eventually? XD ). The cookie-nabbing was a bit long, but depending on how long the rest of the movie will be that might be ok. Nice work!

  • Thanks for commenting! A lot of people are talking about how long certain parts are. Some things still need trimming :) I don't want to make this film too short, otherwise it flies by you so fast... you know? I can cut down on the cookie scene, though. I was actually considering cutting that part a bit. As for the present, there's no reason for it besides the fact that it's for the holidays and I'd prefer not to cut a hole in my wall :)

  • Great job! Is there a part 2?

  • Yes, I am in the process of making it. I just wanted to get something up for the holidays.

  • enjoyed it--loved that the rat had its own Christmas tree in its house. I kept waiting for the cat---maybe an earlier entrance from the feline would be nice. I can't believe that rat demolished the whole gingerbread house--amazing.

  • Thanks for your comment! Actually, she nibbled at the gingerbread house and I destroyed it :) I had to because she lost interest in eating it after awhile, so I had to make it look like she did that. Glad you noticed that little tree of hers!

  • I can't wait to see the finished movie! The rat is a star!

  • She is! Thanks.

  • THAT'S GONNA BE ONE GREAT MOVIE!!!

  • I hope it turns out!

  • good job on your video! you have a funny rat :)

  • Thanks! She's pretty good as a movie star considering I got her from the humane society when she was already 1.5 years old!

  • Just curious--how long do they live??

  • Not very long. Maybe 3 or 4 years.

  • This is a nice effort. I don't know if having the rat demolish the gingerbread house adds anything to the story. A house cat should be aware of the rat by the time it took all the cookies, which was very cute. This must have taken you HOURS to film. You can feel proud you are filming your own pets for the story. Good luck.

  • Thanks so much for your comment! Originally, I had planned to show a shot of the cat sleeping. In order for Opal to get to the gingerbread house, she would have to walk across the piano, which would wake up the cat. You think I should try to do that?

  • Maybe....

  • Thanks. She was stubborn and wouldn't take it from the plate - only from my hand. I'll try to refilm it.

  • LOL, that was excellent. I love it!

    Great work :-)

  • Thanks! Sorry if the beginning was too boring :)

  • Nice...

  • Thanks. I'll leave a comment on your video a bit later.

  • that rat was very hungry!

  • She was! This is random, but if rats had fluffy tails, wouldn't they remind you of squirrels? They run kind of like squirrels.

  • The music is perfect, don't change a thing! I love the jaws part! The rat is gorgeous!! My brother had white rats when we were kids! This is so different from your other videos. You are VERY talented and I love the whole video VERY much!! Can't wait to see the whole thing! 5 superstars! I'll share when you are finished!

  • Thanks very much! It took a lot longer to film than most of my other videos. I was so happy about finishing half of the video... I can't wait until it's done!

  • I cannot wait,too:)) That was great,you are a genious!!!and the music is great:)

    Please be quick...

  • Quick in replying, or quick in finishing the video? I don't think it will be finished until early next year :) Thanks for your comment.

  • hmm,ok then,I will wait and be patient..

    :))

  • jaws theme is overused

  • I completely agree. However, in this case, I don't think I'll change it. I think some people won't see the cat right away and the Jaws music makes them look for what the music is hinting at.

  • I loved it! My cat Chloe watched it with me, and she loved it too! Good luck! :)

  • Thanks! I'm sure your cat did enjoy watching this - considering how it's mostly about a rodent running around :)

  • good for a You Tube movie.

  • Thanks! And thanks for commenting!
