What most people do not know is that all, if not most, rock/pop music that has guitar in it after Hendrix is based on Hendrix. Today in 2011 you can still hear it in all pop genres. This is the best version of Hear my Train by far--story has it Jimi was sort of criticized by a prominent music personage after the first concert and came out with something to PROVE this night-- I think he did that.....

yeah baby finally found the version of this song. it was released on an old wax of the band of gypsys at filmore by mistake (that got stolen with some wax bootlegs and the naked electric lady cover vinyls), but haven't heard this performance since I was....well 10 years. just a dirty south walkin' the train tracks in pourin' rain intro. the sickest ever people.

The version of 'Hear my train a comin' played at Berkely can be found on the album "Voodoo Child: The Jimi Hendrix Collection" on disc 2, 4th track. It's got good quality (much better than the hand held camera video you can find on youtube).

Its not on any album i can find, but its from the last experience concert at the Royal Albert Hall. I would say it, and berkely, are the two most impressive versions I have ever heard. For me, the RAH performance is more impressive because at one point Jimi goes buckwild in a way which is unique to the song, while he also builds tension and releases it in a facinating way. Just my opinion though, it has been said that his finest ever recorded performance was at Berkely.
