What most people do not know is that all, if not most, rock/pop music that has guitar in it after Hendrix is based on Hendrix. Today in 2011 you can still hear it in all pop genres. That's as mind blowing as his playing. I don't mean to spam but I put some of my recent original music online. If you want to know how heavy Hendrix influenced music sounds today click on wiszrock. I think you'll like it.
this one kicks ass but berkeley is 3 minutes longer and i think its more cinematic as in its like a movie kinda llike 1983 i havent heard the royal albert hall one yet gonna look for it ......does anyone know if theres video footage of this or the berkely one uncut ? thanks peace
wonder why the GUY who filmed MACHINE GUN at Filmore didn't film this, --or did he? This is the best version of Hear my Train by far--story has it Jimi was sort of criticized by a prominent music personage after the first concert and came out with something to PROVE this night-- I think he did that.....
it's b/c of marijuana that brought me back to jimmy, i've always loved him but past year or so i've been listenin to heavy dose of electronic music, but then i got high one night and said i need some straight up trippy guitar. thankyou jimi, it's been 40+ years yet i'm still amazed everytime i hear u play.
@mevansmusic man, 60s-70s psychedelia (instrumens, musicians) is by far more heavy and deep than eletronic ... with acid is nearly dungerous to hear :DD
Damn it I was hoping this would be a video of Hendrix playing this. There's nothing as powerful as Hendrix playing Hear My Train A Comin' at Fillmore. Nothing.
@borchabronx the drumming is shit for this song compared to mitch you could hear the sound of the train pounding on the tracks with mitch but its ok anyway
The wah: It talks....meows...squawks....speaks...quarks & quacks...gulps....quips.....just about all the vocalities & speak-o tones you could think of.
I heard this on Pandora the other day and it blew my mind. I think this is Jimi at his best. All the classic and current blues rockers, they can't touch this. I mean, it's not even close.
yeah baby finally found the version of this song. it was released on an old wax of the band of gypsys at filmore by mistake (that got stolen with some wax bootlegs and the naked electric lady cover vinyls), but haven't heard this performance since I was....well 10 years. just a dirty south walkin' the train tracks in pourin' rain intro. the sickest ever people.
The version of 'Hear my train a comin' played at Berkely can be found on the album "Voodoo Child: The Jimi Hendrix Collection" on disc 2, 4th track. It's got good quality (much better than the hand held camera video you can find on youtube).
This version is for sure the second best I've ever heard, the first solo is chilling, but the RAH version is on another level, too bad its not featured on the Last Experience album.
Its not on any album i can find, but its from the last experience concert at the Royal Albert Hall. I would say it, and berkely, are the two most impressive versions I have ever heard. For me, the RAH performance is more impressive because at one point Jimi goes buckwild in a way which is unique to the song, while he also builds tension and releases it in a facinating way. Just my opinion though, it has been said that his finest ever recorded performance was at Berkely.
@StonedEpiphone awesome version!! , but vid keeps sticking cos of my piss poor connection , there was a better version of this but some arse wipe deleted , it was entitled "jimi upset at drummer and amazing jam" , i say it was better just my opinion obv , but this version kicks arse!! nice one!!
you can feel the diff between buddy miles and mitch earth versus space jimi called it and thats what heppens when earth collides with space meaning the drum sucks for his songs and thats what he said a few days later at madison
yeah but they rehearsed it for 400 hours so the backup couldget the feeling he wanted everything sounded shit in the beginning check out Sugarmegs streaming audio

Doesn't listening to this explain WHY James Marshall Hendrix is the BEST ever ?
You can tell from the way he plays his guitar that it comes from the bottom of his soul like no other.
We all miss you Jimi !
