  • It's funny how everybody wants to be like Reagan but criticize Romney for going pro-life. Reagan was a pro-choice governor who ran a pro-life campaign for president. I guess Romney has the on that one. And who cares anyways? He changed for the better so good for him.

  • Romney is schizophrenic.

  • Ouch, Romney got owned here. His naked ambition is only rivaled by the Governator.

  • For the view of an average, everyday person. See my video, Mitt Romney for President 2008!!! Just click on my user name.

  • I'm a mormon and I support Mitt Romney... not because he's mormon... but because he's been able to change things around wherever he went. I'd like him in the White House because it needs a major overhaul.

  • I agree - a major overhaul is needed.

Mitt Romney may have had an honest change of heart about abortion. However, Mitt Romney currently supports the concept or pre-emptive war, completely at odds with LDS teachings.

Mitt said that nuclear strikes on Iran should not be taken off the table if it appeared that Iran was close to getting a nuke.

He certainly might turn this country around, but will he turn it around in the right way (i.e. the Constitutional way?) I believe the answer is "No!"

  • I'm also a mormon and I think Mitt is a nice guy but Ron Paul will protect our freedom more than Mitt.

    Ron Paul 2008

  • I'm also a mormon and I support Ron Paul.

  • Amen.

  • I agree with most of the points made in your video, but I also agree with some of the comments that have been made.

Romney *kept* his promise to not change Mass pro-choice laws. However, he supported the pro-life position when he could and still keep his word.

I also think of all the "top tier" candidates, (i.e. Obama, Clinton, McCain, Giuliani, and Romney) that Romney is far and away the best choice for the country.

  • I'm sure he wanted to change the laws to pro-life but he had promised the people who elected him that he would not change the laws. So he honored that promise but vetoed requests to add additional pro-choice laws... this is how he enforced his pro-life views... by striking down NEW legislation that were pro-choice. He came down on the side of life ALWAYS. I feel question 2 has already been answered and question 3 isn't worth commenting on.

  • PBAs were now banned but now Romney had to fight requests to allow the creation of new life for the purpose of study. This is where he had decided that the Government needed to do away with Roe VS Wade. It created the environment to allow too many possible immoral practices. He decided to announce that he would take pro-life positions on new legislation but still honor his promise to not change any of the laws. He struck down proposals to make the state even more pro-choice. (Continued)

  • This allowed researchers to create and destroy new embryos ONLY for the purpose of study. Romney envisioned walls of LIVING fetuses (even if they are only 20 cells, they are alive and growing). We would destroy them when we were done experimenting. Romney really couldn't do anything about PBAs because because Roe VS Wade protected a woman's right to have it done. But then the Federal Government passed a blanket law that banned this procedure in October 2003. (Continued)

  • Responding to question 1: It refers to partial birth abortions. This procedure was banned nationwide in 2003. This procedure was banned during Romney's first year as Governor. It has been practiced for many years before then even though attempts to strike it down were unsuccessful. A NEW idea was brought forward to state that life only began at implantation instead of conception. (Continued)

  • This video shows Romney agreeing to not change any abortion laws during his term. Then it shows him making a statement after his November 2004 announcement of being pro-life where he stated he is committed to keeping his promise to not change any of the laws. But this video does not show other critical parts of the conference where Romney explained why he had just vetoed proposals to change abortion laws because he had decided to protect and preserve the right to life. (Continued)

  • Thus, embryos created through in vetro fertilization until implanted would not be considered "alive". Mitt Romney struck both of these proposals down. So, he took a pro-life stance by rejecting the proposals but he also kept his promise to not change any of the laws that were already in existence when he was elected. (Continued)

  • So, we simply said he would not change those laws. Throughout his term as Governor, many requests were submitted to change the abortion laws. For example, one was to lower the age of consent to 16 to have an abortion. The current law had 18 as the age. Another was submitted that stated that life only began when the egg is implanted into the fetus and not when the sperm and egg were combined. (Continued)

  • When running for Governor in 2002, he said he was personally pro-life but he would agree to not change any of the existing abortion laws in MA. This kind of position is effectively a pro-choice position but he did not want to be known as a pro-choice candidate because he still hadn't made up his mind as to whether or not the government should have an influence on the decision to have an abortion. (Continued)

  • Here are my thoughts on this video: Mitt Romney is personally and always has been pro-life. But he had always struggled with the decision as to whether or not Government should make the decision to allow or ban abortions. The current law in the U.S. is provided by Roe VS Wade which gives the right to choose to all women in all 50 states. (Continued)

  • I guess I've taken the Romney "pill" as you say. From what I have seen of him thus far, he is the best candidate for the most important job in the world...and please, no more of this Ron Paul for pres. garbage...he has no chance with conservatives and is in the wrong party altogether.

  • I am convinced Romney is as genuine as they come...which is very refreshing when it comes to politics. As far as I can tell, Romney is running not to satisfy an inflated ego or because he is a power-mongering narcissist...I believe he is running for altruistic reasons. He is a patriot. He wants a better future for his family. He truly loves this country. It helps that he is a proven and effective leader and has turned crap into gold his whole life.

  • Smooth work by a Ron Paul supporter. I don't care if you or Romney or both of you are LDS, LSD or DSL. That means nothing to me. Romney admitted being wrong about his prevopis Pro-Choice stance. I believe him. You don't have the track record he has-- both in business and as a public servant-- by compromising your integrity when the occasion requires.
