the candles burn up a lot of the air why dont you get som torches. And to get rid of most of the smoke build a small hole in the roof of the main room which will help with the light a bit aswell.

Dig down about 4 feet, buu big black plastic water pipes that r about 4 feet in diameter, place in hole, cover with dirt

i am making a similar one but mines about 3 feet down, about 12 feet long and has boards covering it. it had a colapse today and i had to get more boards. and i live in utah in syracuse where the dirt is HARD to dig in.
