@JamesEncliffe Leo Sowerby is an American 20th Century composer. He was one of the last great sacred music composers of the time and happened to study with people like Ned Rorem and Percy Grainger.
@JamesEncliffe The Chicago Tribune during his life actually remarked he was a "musical anarchist," because he took American Jazz, Symphonic Music, and Church Music and blended it together as a revolutionary action against the superiority of Victorian Church Music :))).
Sowerby's works don't seem so well-known in the UK. After hearing this, I think they should be!! Wonderful!!!
