  • I believe his son will create his own legend.

  • Every time I listen to his music I dont even think about his father (even though he is awesome) I think about sean, and I dont compare him or his half bro to their dad. I think about and appreciate him and his half bro as artists, R.I.P. john lennon, live on sean and julian.

  • Who is she?

  • The music on Friendly Fire is so interesting. You have to listen to it several times. It grows on you after the first few times and after the next 20 times you grow to worship it. Phenomenal work Sean. I also love the music you wrote for Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Undead.

  • That was my old horse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded

  • Reminds me a little of Rufus Wainwright. He'd probably do a decent cover of Lennon's song if he chose to.

I think Sean is very talented.

  • @cinemapagol - don't speak if you don't know about avant-garde, pop-cultured person.

  • hes great!

  • the girl he sings about...looks like a zombie

  • i love this song. even if he does sound like his father.

is that a bad thing? i think not.

  • "stay away, I'm not myself"

  • What the fuck? This was extremely romantic and he put his soul into it, I know it doesn't seem as though he has any soul, he has actually did it this time....

    Keep up the good work.

  • This is beautiful..as is so much of what hes put out..However, I can't stand 'Headlights'. For me it's boring & without soul (my own opinion of course) and much too formulaic...

  • I like it a lot. (Does remind me of his dad, but that's a good thing!) Good job Sean, you have your own art form.

  • Have any of you given the thought if John were alive he'd be proud of Sean? He'd be supporting his son? By saying that John is probably turning in his grave, is an insult to the former Beatle himself. Personally, I love Sean (not as much as Dhani Harrison, mind.), but I do love him. I see a lot of his father in him, and am happy that he's creating an album of his own. I don't think he's trying to be in John's shadow. He's an individual artist so please, let him be. You have to admit you'd

  • probably like him if you didn't know he was John's son. Respect him as an artist, I know I do.

  • ripping off his fathers style and appearance?

i understand the style part of it, but he cannot change his face.

  • absolutly right.. and its not ripping off its called influence.

many many bands were influinced by john lennon and the beatles.

  • Its funny sometimes how people venerate a musician then attack their children who end up (big suprise) following in their parent's footsteps. Sean has deffinately come to his own style and originality. The fact that people see him being the son of his father is unfortunate. They are missing out on a true artist.

  • Self absorbed - little market appeal...there is a better way

  • sounds like rufus wainwright without the voice

  • of all the songs i have ever heard this was certainly one of them

  • He sounds very nasily.

  • its not the greatest.. but he will always be compared to john. and that will never allow him to be great like his dad.

  • i don't understand it but it makes me want to hear the rest of it. which i guess is the point.

  • musta got all his talent from YOKO'S side of the family

  • pretty song

  • I like the song and the video is really artistic. It trips me out and how much he looks so much like his dad.

  • he sounds to much like his mother. There will never be another John Lennon............Peace Teri

  • Wow! He looks alot like his father! As for his voice, it sounds like an untrained version of his father's voice. Maybe with some voice lessons...? His music style is like his father's, though.

  • I agree with you. I just think some minor refining or maybe more experience and he could be really good. Not that he is not good I just think there is room for some improvement. Peace--Jammie

  • Some of the comments on this video are absolutely ridiculous.

Nonetheless, love this video and love Sean!

  • Wow, his singing is nasely and just bad. I mean... this is an insult to his last name really.

    I blame Yoko for this...

  • I think he needed to get something that was troubling him out.I dig the song!He has some pretty complicated chords in this song.I'm impressed!

  • the parts at 1:20 and at 3:06 are really cool. his singing leaves something to be desired though.

  • This is really bad. Hate to be so critical but the boy cannot sing. ;( Sorry John.

  • OK.

  • Forget the fact its John Lennon's kid.the music is very well written.he has a nice voice,a bit nasally yes but it's his sound.I liked it alot.

  • john had such a better voice like it wasnt as nasaly

  • that sucks

  • Well, running the risk of being stoned to death by John Lennon/Beatles fans (myself being on)I have to say that I think that Sean has surprassed his father in tallent. I don't ever remember hearing music this good from him/them. The way that Sean's music is put together is pure genious. The entire album is amazing. The only negative thing I can say is that yes, it's a bit nasaly, work with a singing couch would take care of that in a very short time. Just "open up"! LOL!

  • wow, that's ridiculous. listen to any paul mccartney song and it sounds just like this. not to say this is bad music, but the combination of lennon/mccartney made john's talent way better.

  • You have no idea what your talking about period. This is horible. It is well produced musically with exactly the type of piano/base combination his father was known for. This almost sounds like inspector Clousou.

  • very good.

  • He's definetely not his father though.

  • It's a little scary to see how much he looks like his parents and how much he sounds like his dad...

  • he sounds like he's mumbling

  • Wow, he looks like a chinese version of his dad. I liked this tune quite a bit. You can hear his dads sound in the voice quality. He has very good pitch. Nice song.

  • John Lennon had little to do with Sean Lennon. Kind of abandoned him. They connected again right before John was shot.

  • You are a knucklehead and need to get your facts straight before you spout off at the "MAN PLEASER"!!!! Sean was FIVE years old when John was murdered.

  • You are a knucklehead and need to get your facts straight before you spout off at the "MAN PLEASER"!!!! Sean was FIVE years old when John was murdered.

  • You're talking about Julian Lennon, his son with Cynthia Lennon (John's first wife). Sean was the son he became devoted to after realizing how bad of a father he was with Julian.

  • school that fool! lol!! have u ever read the book, The Love You Make....very interesting stuff about john john....about them all!!

  • I've never read that book! I've get to check that one out...

Have you read The Beatles by John Spitz? That's also a really good bio about them.

  • you're thinking of julian--john stayed home with sean for the first five years of his life and then john died

  • John had little to do with his first son Julian - Sean was his second son and he was much closer to Sean

  • i dig it, sounds kind of radioheadesque to me in some parts.

  • ughh hate the voise could not even stand it till the end

  • can't see this being a top 40 song too artsie fartsie, his mom must have given her 2 cents worth to recreate a 60's LSD trip she had with John.

  • I still find it errie(sp?)that both of his sons sound so much like him....Are they both trying to channel John?? On another note--I think I like Jules better.

  • You have a voice worth working on.

  • that must have been one of his nightmares

  • Weird voice,weird video...

    but i like it!

  • As much as I dislike Yoko, I must say I enjoy Sean's music more than Julian.

  • Hey, neither kid has to work for a living. This is about creativity. I think they are both creative, and talented. Sure they have the right contacts, and maybe even the right genes. Art is art. I like it.

  • i love sean. yes he has a completely different sound than his dad but why would he want to sound exactly like him? any way i bet he can barely remember john. he was really little when his dad was murdered. i think people who listen to him hoping to be reminded of john are dumb. he's his own artist trying to get HIS work out there. not his dad's.

  • He isn't his father's son, talent wise. Julian gor ALL of that and looks too. Just goes to show, money can't buy everything.

  • Not too bad. I thought his first release was far too nasil. this is a bit better. Julian is far better though. He is still around (I am on his mailing list) and keeps talking about a possible new release. His last, Photograph Smile, was incredible.

  • You are correct. This song was created around Beatles sound. I can`t say I don`t like it but notice the similarities in the sound. Jules made his own music then pretty much went away.

  • John and Yoko's kid, eh? I can't wait to see Rosie O'Donnell conceive Justin Timberlake's kid.

  • You gotta love Sean! Beautiful song!

    peace and love!

  • Thank you, Shadow... and Peace to you as well!

  • the best way for Sean to prove himself would be to have used a different name.

maybe Yoda, excuse me Yoko gets a cut of Seans revenue, since she has depleated all of John's music.

  • yeah, sorry dude.I kind of over reacted there.ur,right everybody is entitled to their own opinion.but still ur a deuch.

  • We are all blessed to have been a part of a time when we witnessed the beauty of 2 people so very much in love who were doing what they felt was right, in the way they only knew how...in peace. Sooo...in the name of peace and love, let's love another and be a little less critical of one another. God bless all who view here. Peace!

  • We don't know if Yoko actually pushed his style, etc. upon him but even if she influenced him, I'm sure she did it with love in her heart and imagine...a woman lost her husband and a boy lost his father.

  • God bless him! He's been given a talent, a gift, and if we love it or not, he is sharing it with us.

  • As I've said in the past......Julian is a much better singer. I feel sorry for Sean. Bet Yoko pushed the kid into the business and styled him up to imitate his daddy. Look at his hair cut, round glasses, song style, harmonies and music choice! He really does need better control of his voice and definately needs to find his OWN style.

  • Scary!! looks like a cross between his father and Harry potter... His voice is odd, reminds me of a small child

  • yea..everyones entitled to their own opinion!!

John Lennon is my personal Hero, inspiration and God!!!!! He would be disheartened but not shocked to see so many people comparing his son's.

They are diverse styles in many ways, and both good!

    Peace!!!

  • I totally agree with u

  • I believe John would have been proud of both of his sons - regardless of what kind of singer they were. I was a die hard Beatles fan and I HATED Yoko for what I perceived was the woman who broke up he Beatles - but she and John had a son and that son obviously has the talent needed to make it on his own. His voice is beautiful and this ballad shows off his talent. I for one applaud Julian for stamping his own particular brand on this world's music.

  • OOPS! I said Julian rather than Sean. I KNOW Julian is John and Cynthia's son and Sean is John and Yoko's son - i just had a momenary brain fart. Sorry!

  • The first time I was introduced to Sean Lennon's music I was told it was unreleased John Lennon music and I honestly believed it. I was very surprised to find out it was his son's work and I was pleasantly surprised with his work, but it seems that instead of finding his own niche in the music world, he just sort of took up where John left off. It's good music, but it's too similar to John's work to ever get Sean out of his father's enormous shadow.

  • It really sounds like you're talking about Julian Lennon. I don't mean to offend, but I can't believe anyone could confuse Sean & John's voices. I really can't.

I don't know if the supposed simmilarities to John Lennon's style is responsible for Sean's music not selling more than it does, but I wouldn't have him change his music for anything in the world. It's beautiful. That's all that matters to me.

  • Anybody who believes that Sean's music isn't as good a John's is merely expressing an uneducated opinion, which is unfair and exhibits ignorance. Most of the negative criticism is based upon the history and myth of the Beatles layered throughout more than 40 years. Nobody can counter that, regardless of how good he really is. Close your eyes and listen with your heart as well as your ears. Apply John's dedication to love and understanding. Failing that, you are unqualified, as is your opinion.

  • don't compare him to his dad. hes pretty good.

  • who is that dumb to think hp is singing.and the son of john has the right to sing like his father if he wants so screw you with that

  • everyone of you who puts this video down should be ashamed to follow john lennon you seem to forget everything he stood for, peace, love, understanding, i'm not going to say anything mean because that would just be rude i just wish some of you people would do the same

  • Painfully, hauntingly, beautiful. Thank you Sean.

  • Sean, you should write em. Julian you should sing em...No offense Sean. Great song, fresh to the ears especially with what people conceive to be "Music" these days. Hang out with your bro sometime, and make some music we can all love, just like we all loved and still admire your Dad.

  • stop the hate, seriously people. I dont see you assholes singing or playing any instruments.

  • if john lennon held his nostrils shut while singing this is what he would sound like. But I do like the musicianship.

  • Nope, this kid looks and sounds just like his mother, weird YoKo. Julian Lennon looks and sounds like John.

  • argh...

  • argh...

  • average song, produced to sound like the Beatles, weak vocal - just not there.

  • Can people stop comparing him with his Dad? I think we all know that he looks like his father, don't most of us? But Sean is his own person, and I'm sure he doesn't appreciate the constant comparison between him and John.

I think he's a great musician, and singer.

  • Than they should not produce music that has so many Beatle-esque qualities. He is asking for it.

  • The song is pretty good. I mean, considering he's the son of John Lennon and hung out with Michael Jackson as a kid, I knew not to expect that level of greatness, but this track is fine. Problem is his voice. He's just not that good a singer. Otherwise, it's a fine song. Maybe a little generic, but well-arranged and everything

  • Damn....he looks like his Dad. I like the song, too.
