The Okinawan People have suffered between the two powers of Japan and the United States. Almost half of the population was killed and The Japanese sacrificed The Ryukyus to the US in pact deal. Okinawans had their own culture & language before Japan annexed them. Cultural suicide much like how the US overthrew the Hawaiian Kingdom illegally. Today Okinawans & Hawaiians are still fighting for their identities.
