I remember these ads. Johnny Carson did a live parody of one of these on The Tonight Show in drag as Rula. He had no idea she was there and seen by the audience on another monitor. Johnny couldn't figure out why his skit was so funny to the audience. He gets done and the place goes crazy. She steps out from behind the skit set and Johnny about has a stroke. More laughter ensues. A truly great TV moment because of Rula, V05, and Carson.
@Shanniquitie Let me get this straight: a person is ignorant if he or she KNOWS who a stage star is, but ALSO ignornat (I've heard this before) if he or she KNOWS who stage star is. That makes about as much sense of "none of it's your business except what IS your business, but I won't tell you what IS your business until your business has passed by"
@Shanniquitie OK! :-) I'll file that uhnder the "I was stuck in a tree, so I got down and got a ladder and then climbed down the ladder." (which is a rather amusing East Indian fairy-tale of one-upmanship...)
@Shanniquitie It's incredibly silly, but for some reason, I love (from time to time) talking all sing-songy and subluxing my "ls" and "ds" and periodically saying "I am Mr Patel, an Indian."
@shmuli9 i get that with american southern. there's something so musical in the intimation of mental deficiency, it's probably evidence for some higher power threading mercy through the injustice of anotherwise ambivalent cretin. i mean creation :)
@Shanniquitie Indeed... Or "Newfiespeak" or "English as spoken in the North of England", and to a degree in Welsh-English intonations...
Along similar lines, I've ALWAYS wondered exactly WHAT music people refer to when they say that Manadrin in a "musical" language. As my dad says, "two women speaking Mandarin sound like two cats fighting, and I'd have to agree. One might be saying the equivalent of "I love uyou, darling" but it SOUNDS like "get out of my life, you jerk! I hope you die!"
Is she a drag queen?

Wow - long time since I have seen that hot oil treatment.
Rula still looks great....she was just on Coronation Street a while back.

@newfypearl
She's back on Corrie now. She's a classy looking woman, but her voice is now deeper than Deirdre Barlow's 40-a-day voice.

Rula is best remembered for being in the tv show ' Rock Follies' in the 70s.Also,she was briefly married to Dennis Waterman. Yes,she's a woman!

Geeze - so many negative comments about a distinguised actress like Rula Lenska!
Her husky voice is what is so appealing about the characters she plays...
Do your homework kids!
