@Astraldragon1 Bill Bixby's son died in 1981 and Proof Positive was shown in January 1980. Another reason given for his non-appearance in the episode was that he was busy with divorce proceedings against wife Brenda Benet who would herself appear in the Hulk episode The Psychic. It was Bill Bixby's idea to have her cast as the psychic in order to make peace with her after their split.
This is why I preferred to have an ending to the series involving both Banner and Mcgee, there wasn't any proper closure, like a trial for Banner over Elaina's death and David being cured, Although the TV movies were a good watch. This was a good episode and was interesing to see Jack as the main character in this episode and having a love interest.
I read somewhere this episode was filmed in October or November 1979 and that Bill Bixby didn't turn up in it because of a knee operation. Great episode though and you still get to see the Hulk in it twice.
@Banner1979 , "a knee operation?" that's interesting I heared Bill Bixby's Son had died at a young age around the time of this episode and was the reason he was not in Proof Positive. no matter the reason it is the only episode he did not appear in during the series.. I liked that it was from Jack's point of view.
I always wondered when this episode was made, and was it during Bill Bixby's divorce from his wife or the death of his son, that caused him to be away from filming this episode. Because it's so weird to see the Hulk-out towards the end and seeing only Lou as the Hulk and not Bill as Banner.
@Retrofan I agree it was odd not seeing Bill in this episode, or the fact the guy that supposedly played Banner was wearing dark glasses..and they used a slide for the transformation. Interesting episode though
WHEW! I thought Jack was going to have one of those comedic moments where he thinks that his boss means something different from actually committing suicide. Thank god the writers had the decency to do otherwise.
