nobody told me either, but it's the only comfortable way of doing it. probably i just have really bad knees. in fact, definitely. but that's one thing yoga has really helped with. or else it's tight hips and i can't roll the thigh over far enough to take pressure off the knee.
@roetchen I always had great knees til recently. Actually last week I tried touching hip bone to heel. Feels just the same in terms of the knees but might be a good exercise for me cause I have relatively tight hip flexors.
I'm amazed how you do all this great work in a confined space. I'd fall into a wall somewhere at this point. Someday... The cat rocks :) Mine are usually on my mat or me during practice. They are worse than the kids. Thanks for posting!
@Deposetheboyking It helps to be short! :) I'm 5'2". One funny note: my teacher noticed I was doing caatvari into down dog, existing shoulder stand sequence in finishing, to get to headstand, rather than landing in catarunga. I explained I'd gotten used to that because if I landed long at home I'd hit the fridge! For most of my practice I face the bed, right in front of that hanging mirror. But if I want to film something & back up far enough I have to turn the mat.
Great.I like this video because you have progressed a lot, BUT are not there yet. I am much much behind you in my kapotasana. Therefore seeing you is inspiring. Thanks for sharing this.
Excellent full pose. I have heard that it takes alot of work with the hips in order to get in the final pose. I can only do a variation. Not even close to bringing my foot to my head, yet!!! Time will tell.
Well they're not really that good. To be REALLY good, I'd have to be able to just reach up & over & grab my foot, rather than around to the side & straightening out after. Also my hips need to be more squared and planted. The pose is a lot better than it was a year ago though, for me. If I can get there, you can too!
Love this asana and love watching how you work it, it's what I love most about your videos, that you allow us to see the work you put into achieving and improving these asana. Many thanks for continuing to post them, really useful, helpful and inspiring.
Thanks Grimmly!! I'm lucky enough to have found teachers who'd throw a lot at me and let me chew on it. If I didn't practice things I was bad at, I'd never have gotten any better. :) (Still a long ways to go!)
Foo fighters and yoga..i love it!:) Good job btw!

isn't your front heel supposed to touch your hip? my knee would make grinding noises if i tried it at that angle...

@1Priya1001 Thanks! I think it's a bit better lately in the levelness of the hips.
