No doubt the GS2 has a good speaker on it but this sound test was judged unfairly, the speaker on the Nexus S is directly underneath the phone meaning it was face down for this sound test. The speaker on the GS2 is on the bottom of the phone and is faced out into semi open space not face down into a table. Another reason why it sounded so much clearer to the camera.

you should use stock nexus S android

galaxy s2 got much better hw (dual core processor, which means quite a boost, also got 1gb ram - nexus s got 512mb)

its clear galaxy s2 will win eitherway, but this is just not objective test.

I own a nexus S .. the phone is unbelievably brilliant. However it lacks an SD card... and its space 16gb though sufficient for sparse apps and music is very limited. I can't possibly recommend it unless you want to buy it for a family member that is not a power user. I bought mine for my girlfriend because she has never had such a powerful smartphone. Shes used it every single day since. Hell I have a tough time turning her attention away from it now a days.. *chuckles*

both phones weren't equally match up.. you have a CUSTOM ROM on your Nexus S while on the Galaxy S though you said its already rooted BUT you still have the STOCK ROM.. .. -_- .. I myself experienced slowing down when I rooted my Nexus One and flashed CyanogenMod.. unlike my Nexus One when it has the stock rom..

How clear and loud can I hear the other person talking and how good he'll be able to hear me? How well does it catch signals?

@catgoh1992 I recently got my S2 you can use the GPS without the internet, I have not tried it but you would need an (paid) offline GPS software like Navigon or Copilot. Because the default navigation uses Maps from Google so you need an internet connection to download the maps.

But I have read somewhere Google is planning to realease an offline google maps so you can download the maps (from a wifi spot for example) and spare your data plan. I have no idea when tho!

Quite funny: on most trips I have found the google maps to be more efficient than my tomtom start² GPS.

@catgoh1992 You are welcome. But be advised: although this fun is incredibly great and full of useful features: the battery life is very low. If you use several features at a time the battery will last less than half a day. But this is normal it is powerful and it has a big screen.

If you only use the basic phone features it is ok. I do not mind I drive a lot so I can plug it into my car to charge it.

@Lirankn Rooting doesn't really change much other than user permisions, and plain cyanogen is basically stock android which the device already come swith, so it wouldn't even matter. And did you really expect an year old device to beat a brand new dual core one anyways???? Nexus S is still very fast and slick for an older device.

The boot test was invalid. The Galaxy has a sidescrolling app drawer that loads the 13 icons on the one page and can load the other page behind the scenes without redrawing. The Nexus S app drawer was vertical and had to load ALL icons and redraw them as well. You also shouldn't really be comparing cyanogen to stock
