King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV stated in one of his docos that the Tongans are infact a mixture of Fijian and Samoan blood, and that the Tu'i Tonga Empire started because the Tongans admired the Tui Manu'a who ruled the south seas 1st. Now you cant go wrong with that becuase that was stated by the Highest Chief in Tonga, the one who has the royal tongan blood and who is the most educated in Tonga.

At one time Samoa, Tonga, & Fiji were one but got separated through greed & trade brought & learn'd by European Missionaries. Don't get it twist'd. Both Samoa and Tonga are built on a strong foundation of Christian Love. Im Samoan and no matter what the Tongans will always be my brothers and sisters even if past stories are correct.
However i strongly do believe that Tongans recieved alot of their culture from Samoa, especially the Manu'a region.

Yes Azfonoti... so true....The maulu'ulu and the tau'olunga oringated from Samoa! Yes I was reading about it in a Tongan history pamphet that I have from my grandparents. In those pamphets it explain some of the old dances of Tongan and the more modern dance of Tonga, like the tau'o'lunga and maulu'ulu. Tonga took those dances back as gift from Samoa!

Linguists proved that the Tongan language dates back further to fiji and so on from there! The Samoan Language goes forward to Tahiti and marquesas and so forth, but goes to Tonga and its a proven fact!!! It has been proven thru these studies. It has also been proven that Tonga is much more ancient than Samoa thru radiocarbon found on both islands! We shouldn't be distressed over this! We need to educate our people.

Lekatevita I have to disagree with you about Tonga being more ancient then Samoa. If you really look bacc into history The Manu'a Islands in Samoa is the oldest and most sacred islands in the whole South Pacific. Even your own kings in the past stated that.

Tongans did get it from the Samoans. Hello!!! They got it from them when Tonga ruled over Samoa for over 100yrs! And they tatooed them on the arm to show that they ARE NOT Tongan!!! Learn your history! Because really it was the Tongans that wore the tatoos as clothing. When the Samoans became trustworthy Tongans gave them what the samoans call the pe'e.

Nah. Only Samoa, Tonga, Cook Island, Maori and Niue are represented. Auckland has the best polyfest by far. All the stages are seperated especially Samoa and Tonga because of the fights. And like always the maori stage is isolated somewhere..
