For a full unedited depiction of the events that took place, please search "UC Davis Pepper Spray - What Really Happened" You will see 15 min of vedeo that shows this was not a peaceful protest, or even student led, the "leader" was not a student of UCDavis and said the protesters were going to take the police weapons, and effectively detained the police. They were justified in using force.

I feel that for this generation, it is the equivalent of protests against the Vietnam war. Or other similar historical protests. It is simply a movement that has gone global with tons of support and from a history standpoint, it is important whether or not anything is achieved. Though I think it has already done it.
Cops like that are the reason I want join the police force once I graduate. There are too many bad ones out there. I hope to be a great one and to change the public opinion of police. @Horde4th3win its actually not that cold here its actually been very warm here, almost al the snow has melted ^_^ and our summers are muggy and hot and somtimes I jump into a cold tub of water XD but ya it would suck if it was cold.... because it would freeze :O

I thought we had a right to freedom of speech. whatever happened to that? I swear, with the country in the direction we're going, we're going to have our own version of Tienanmen square. Maybe even a revolution. I'm 16. I and my peers are the future of this country, and I will not stand by and watch them be abused like this. btw: no matter whether you agree with them or not, no one has the right to do something like this. it completely violates our rights as americans. moral or not this is wrong

Ok, would I do that were I that cop? Honestly, I would want to. I really would because I really don't like OWS. But as a professional? That changes everything. It is far more professional to resolve the matter with resorting to pepper spray.
And here's a fun fact: there are more painful methods. At least it's not roach spray. you can easily hit a crowd from a few yards away and have a similar effect, if not more violent, to pepper spray. Raid, anyone?

oh faux news...pepper spray a food product...? You don't eat it...its a substance that causes stinging and pain...In all honesty, whether or not the Occupy movement changes anything. I feel that for this generation, it is the equivalent of protests against the Vietnam war. Or other similar historical protests. It is simply a movement that has gone global with tons of support and from a history standpoint, it is important whether or not anything is achieved. Though I think it has already done it.

Cops like that are the reason I want join the police force once I graduate. There are too many bad ones out there. I hope to be a great one and to change the public opinion of police. Seriously, cops, think before you act. These are people, they're someone's children, brother, sister, husband, wife, mom, and dad. They aren't hurting anyone, so treat them with some decency. You wouldn't want someone pepper spraying someone you cared about.

@CondomBreaker Who knows what the circumstances may be for producing some of the police officers that we hear about, but I wish you all the best in your efforts and hopefully you do create some meaningful change in the force. If we're lucky, it will change more than just the police force tactics in the face of peaceful protest.
