I have this camera since 1 year ago and just a couple of times the camera stop recording. Turning it on again and problem solved. The stabilization is not that good but improves with a firmware update. I have never lose data, great quality and great macro. Regards.
I have these cameras and I take the SD card out and put it in my laptop and I never have any problems. I hooked it up once to the dock to the PC once and did not have any problems.
Im gonna buy one of those cameras, the external mic, headphone jack, slo mo setting and the reck on top for mics or a light are all fetures Id love to have, I also have an xacti gh1 at the mo so its the same menu sistem and i have a built in sd reader in my pc so i wouldent even have to use the dock.
@Ruttie2 YOU'RE totally right. frankly, i think the letter "E" is the most important also. you know we never what to make the letter "E" feel left out. im sorry.
hey great review.. however I'm having a bit of a problem with my HD2000... it keeps telling me to format my SDHC 8gb card... i know the logical thing to do and the usual solution is to format the card on the comp..did that.. didnt work at all.. then I bought a new SDHC 8gb card and it's doing the same thing! after I put the card in, the camera says format the card.. I hit format.. it doesnt format and asks me over and over... The weird thing is it accepts my 1gb sd card and thats it! HELP!
I just bought the hd2000A for $299 from Amazon on sale. I think it's awesome for the price. works great in low light. works great with external mic. Why I don't think theres barely but a couple of cameras on the market with an external mic jack for under $300! Still plyaing with it and have only transfered data by putting card in computer but will make note of some of the things listed here for attempting data transfer from and through the base.
Hi Mate, I have the 2000, funnily it does not have the iframe function.
Anyway, some help for you re the mac. I always put the cam in the dock then it opens iphoto automaticaly.
I import all of the pics and or video. Then, I copy the video stills in iphoto and drop them into a new event in imovie. This always works and I remember the camera acting stupid if I did not do it this way. The camera is great for the money.
I just received my HD2000 and tested the dock to see if it would work as I had seen this video prior to buying the camera.
I used the usb cable from the dock to the computer and pushed the button on the front of the dock and it connected with no problems. Transferred the files no problem. I did open the files on a PC in Sony Vegas while they were still on the camera/card while in the dock and they seemed to work fine. Maybe the dock you have is bad or computer? Good Luck (Get a PC, hehe)
You don't have to take out the card out at all.I'm using imovie and to transfer the clips to imovie just open the finder and drag and drop it to Imovie event of your choosing.Simple as that!
@deurkl Hmm, ok. I would think that some third party company would make a peripheral that u attach to the bottom making it so it can stand alone. That Sanyo hasent made this possible and placing the mic on the other side of the screen is so stupid... how do u make those flaws? Only two things that makes me not buy one of these cameras. Hella annoying. -_-
@MurdocLC Ofcourse it is very difficult to place a microphone on a pistol shaped camera. And the camera can stand on itself (there's also a tripod mount at the bottom). You can also use the docking station (included).
@deurkl Its not difficult at all! Just put it like on all the other camers, under the lens. Or do SOMETHING, its just stupid by Sanyo to make such a miss.
And i dont wanna carry around a tripod wherever i go. And the docking station dosent stick to the cam does it, and dosent it have a cord stuck to it?
@MurdocLC You can't make a microphone under the lens with a pistol shaped camera. It's where your fingers are. And the dockingstation sticks to the camera. There's no cord on the docking station.
im trying to get a sanyo hand camcorder something this of size. Recommend me if this is really good with this review and other stuff. please as fast as you can. is this still good just for fun use.
I understand your reasoning but the dock is garbage anyway. Never used one never will. To watch the footage on tv over HDMI, ok but for data transfer? Why have an extra piece of equipment on the desk, or even worse, carrying it around all the time?
You'll also save battery by using a card reader. =)
@2006edsel Dude I formatted the card in the camera multiple times with mutiple cards. this is obviously a defect as my canon hf200 has no problems. Please read the comments and explanations beforehand.
Hi. Did you successfully transfer good video via card reader? 'Cause if you're not sure the card data doesn't have the corruption issue too, I might scrap the idea of buying this. For all other specs, it seems the best cam for me but if I can't pull a video from it, it's useless.
Because for the features and the price this is the best camera! Even "thecamcorderreviews" gave it the best value of 2009. Also it records in 1080P and not 1080i like every other camcorder.

How long can be the slow motion films made by Xacti HD1010 and Xacti HD2000?
Siarczan6Miedzi2 7 months ago
@Siarczan6Miedzi2 About
10 seconds record then plays for 40 secs-- 448x336/240fps mode
10 seconds record then it plays for 1:30--192x108/600fps mode
The slow motion is not that good though as the pixel size is 448x336/240fps or 192x108/600fps.
Other than that it is a brilliant camcorder for normal use!

@DanielMallTV Strange not had that problem.
All I can say let the camcorder format it not the computer!
What is the class of the cards you are using although I don't know of any limitations.
Other that that send it back to shop or have it repaired.

Another HD1010 came from Honk-Kong originally ..
No problems at all ..
Updated the firmware to 1.10 , just to be in fashion.
I use Corel Video studio X3 , no issues at all.

@MurdocLC Maybe you should go fo the Sanyo FH1 then. It solves your two points!

@deurkl But then i might as well go with any camera, its not a pistal grip and thats what im looking for.

So the docking station keeps on if u lift the camera up and move it around abit? And the cord is detachable u mean?

If you have also problems with transferring data: Sanyo released new firmware that solves the problem. PM me for the download link and instructions!

The design is the same (hd1010 and hd2000) but the colours, sharpness, and compression are a lot better on the HD2000!
deurkl 1 year ago
and what is the difference between hd1010 and hd2000?
RythmTR 1 year ago
@RythmTR The HD2000 has better sharpness, colours, low light capabilities, more MegaPixels, and 60fps 1080p!

Had the same problem with normal card readers when the card is in the reader before plugging into the USB.
Could be that you have docked the camera before plugging in the usb lead?

u dont need the dock, just take out the memory card and plug it into ur comp
