you know bands like hanson etc would come with some cheesy single which kids would love and then they'd vanish. But today, they get multi-millionaire dollar record deals, djs to produce their music, and ghost songwriters to write every spin off of their original one hit wonder. I'm telling you ,If Los Del Rios showed up in 2009, they'd have 3 albums out, at least 1 platinum, they'd collaborate and make videos with Pitbull, have women claiming to be the mother of their kids and a reality show
the 90's me says "Hanson sucks! I will now spam my hate for them on all the Hanson related message boards!"
But for real, they wrote their own songs, played their own instruments, and sung with their real voices, about zero percent of pop stars today can say that.
I tell ya Toni you nailed it with all your points! Your mind is ahead of the times and I only wish everyone thought like you as this world would be a more clearer thinking place!:)
I support you as the artist you are in your youtube creative way, so keep doing what you're doing my little BuD!:)
i am very sorry, but i do not agree. maybe you listen to the wrong kind of music, or watch too much tv. go to newcomer concerts, check out youtube, or whatever. per year, the amount of releases goes up by a thousand since 2001. more and more artists flood the market, meaning more variety, more talent, more exposure to everything, every kind of stuff whatsoever. moreover, in the 90s (your proclaimed period of superb music) it was a lot easier to become big by being a one hit wonder, simply due to
there are alot of great musicians that are out right now you just wont hear them on the radio because they dont go with the trend..the lame money grubbers are running the industry..what ever will sell is big...trendy...sexual...glamous...bullshit...i dont listen to radio..i find the good stuff and put it on my i pod..acually some sattilete radio is acually good..i found some cool stuff there
I agree with your number 5 reason especially. That's definitely why studios are releasing what they release. I guess if I were to be more specific, I would say "Today's Mainstream Music Sucks" because there are a lot of good musicians out there, whether it be an underground rapper or indie band......It's just no one's heard of them because their sound isn't "mainstream," therefore record labels won't sign them. This does make me wonder what will happen with music 10-15 years from now.
@CutTheseRopes Hey! You're so right- it's the mainstream music. There are so many good singers and bands out there, it's just sad that they often times have to fit into the crowd in order to make it big. I hope things will turn around; I have a good feeling they just might. We need to support talent whenever we see it.
