I was listening to "Bouquet and Burial at Sea", and from 2 : 36 in that song to 2 : 53, it sounds as if there are some musical excerpts of "Persona Alice". And there's also a reference to a lighthouse.
Could it be that "Bouquet and Burial at Sea" is what happens to Ecila?
@BerrySubs I watched it after you rote that i believe that is a prequel because she went with the man it could be that the man she went with after the end of persona alice could be the rabbit and she is wonderland but i like to think that "Bouquet and Burial at Sea" is the prequel and she lived happily ever after :)
That's all good and well for Alice, I suppose, but "Bouquet and Burial at Sea" is probably what happens to Elica, the reflection who was tempting Alice to drown in the lake, as Alice abandoned Elica once she was rescued.
Hmm this reminds me of when I was small... I used to sit infront of my pond and talk to my reflection because I felt like it was my only friend until a boy came up behind me and decided to sit with me... were married now.
@TheVocaProject Lots! personally, i like 'worlds end umbrella' its a bit sad, but its a sweet song. just search around in the suggestions and stuff and there should be mroe like this.
@ExcruciatingAnime .... I like MEGHAPSY's version better, just because it doesn't seem so.... evil... The version you posted sounds evil, like she drowned Alice.
I thought when she said "I saw nothing," she became blinded, breaking the curse and Elica, because if she's blind she can't see anyone's face. Correct me if I'm wrong because I don't know (*- m -)
This song really gets me thinking, and what makes me think and ponder even more are the parts that you left subtitled. I wanted to see if I could decipher it to the best of my ability, even if I have no clue in what I'm actually doing.
Basically I got nothing. :/ All I did was put down how it originally looked [though it wouldn't show yen sign] and then a translation of the japanese next to the senseless phrasing that was in parenthesis. Below that all I did was flip the phrasing around. You'd probably have to do even more specific flipping arounds, as in, flipping individual letters around hoping to get something, but I was lazy. Most I can find in what I did is "kami"
When the man came Ecila tried to get Miku to say with her by drowning her, but the man intervenes and save Miku from truly being stuck there forever. Out of dispair, the witch Ecila, fades away, causing the curse to fade with her, and freeing Miku who decides to leave with the man.
I just had a crazy idea! What if Ecila was actually the witch and she curse Miku because she was the lonely. Ecila could have been tied to that pond/lake and could only leave every so often before she had to return, so this time she brought someone back with her. (continued)
I'm beginning to think the story is more than it appears. My idea of the plot:
Miku is a girl who is odd and teased a lot, and so she withdraws, and spends most of her time in daydreams. Whenever she's certain that she can be happy forever in her daydreams, part of her sees she isn't realy happy. One day a boy tries to befriend her, and she doesn't know what to do. She thinks she'll be hurt, and tells him to go. When she sees he cares, she leaves her fantasy, and begins to live in the real world
@Lilytooth Man you seem concerned by the reflexions of genjitsu/nijigen = real world, fictive world - like mot of us here. I think you're interpretation is relevant.
I thought about another thing too.
In nijigen - what you call "daydreams" - you're not really alone, and you're with yourself. It's consciousness : you realize who you are. But in genjitsu, this power disappears. You can see your friends and the real world, but you loose this part of yourself, following the others (mainstream).
@PapyMandarine Okay, that makes sense. I was thinking that because THE WORLD END UMBRELLA and Qualia are so simmilar. They're all a bit like this: Girl is lonely but content in some world that that's missing something -> Guy comes and brings her to regular world -> She's much happier in regular world. I took that plot, and thought maybe it might be some metaphor of Hachi's life... um... and that's what I came up with.
Old comment, yeah, but that makes so, so much sense. If you've read Hachi's story Days of Happiness, you'll know what I'm talking about. He did it again.
@MyuNekoi You have a point, except DoH goes the opposite way. The caribou's busy life (the "real world") wasn't exactly missing anything - despite being "troubled," he actually says that thanks to his lover, he's happy - but the chicken convinces him that he would be better off "without unhappiness." But without unhappiness/sympathy/giving a care/etc. (the "fantasy world"), he loses his lover and it seems unlikely he'll find love again.
Yes. My previous comment was pretty ambiguous. I guess I should have said that the different notions of "happiness" is one of Hachi's favorite themes to work with, or something like that.
@Lilytooth Haha man you seem concerned by reflexions of genjitsu/nijigen = real world, fictive world - like mot of us here.
A girl named Alice is cursed by a witch, and so she is banished to a place far away from her family. ( Either because seeing another person will kill her, or other people die by seeing her, it's not clear. ) Driven by extreme loneliness, she sees her reflection in the water and thinks it is another person, who she names Ecila ( which is Alice backwards. ) She often dreams of being together with Ecila as a real person, as her reflection is the only person she has seen for years. (continued)
A friendly man, ( who reminds her of the white rabbit from Alice in Wonderland, ) finds her one day, and urges her to leave the lonely place with him, but she can't. That's because she can't look another person in the face because of her curse, and also because she doesn't want to leave Ecila. The pressure gets to her, and she goes into the water to drown herself and be together with Ecila, who she imagines is welcoming her warmly; but the man pulls her out of the water. (continued)
Ecila disappears into the water after that, and her curse was broken as well. She leaves with the man, having nothing to stay for. In the end, she figures Ecila may have only been her own reflection, after all.
Her curse wasnt broken, I think... the way I see it, she must have had an accident when she almost drowned, and went blind from it. Thus, since she couldnt 'see' the person, the curse was ineffective.
Alice just decided to dunk her feet into the water for a moment, but Ecila, whom was evil all along, shouts in joy. "Hello! Hello! I've been waiting for this!" And pulls her under. The man saves her.
The ones I've subtitled are THE WORLD END UMBRELLA, Qualia, and Mrs. Pumpkin's Ridiculous Dream.
He's also done Rakshasa and the Corpse, The Princess Sleeps to Electronics, and In a Rainy Town Balloons Dance with Devils. While I didn't make videos for those, I put translations for them on the lyrics page in the description. There are other translations on YouTube, too.
@corntate Search "Fuusen wa Akuma to Odoru" on YouTube and you should find it. It's not especially notable, other than Hachi apparently making it in a day and it supposedly being a prequel Princess Sleeps to Electronics. (Still don't know how that works, really.)
Is it bad that it took me two days to realize that Ecila is Alice spelt backwards? XD
Would you mind if I translated your translations into Spanish and posted them on my livejournal (I'll give you the link if you allow me)? I haven't seen a Spanish translation to this song.
Well, it's not the first I've heard of it. And if it weren't for the comments I saw on the MikuWiki when I got the lyrics, I might've called her "Eshila" or something and almost nobody would have realized it.

okay i dont know why but i feel as though
when the man(most likely kaito) grabs her from the water
he doesnt grab alice he grabs 'ecila'
And i do have some proof,
okay so around 2:50 they start talking to each other, and Ecila says she hates her; she is actually jealous of her life
however Alice doesnt understand this because anyone who sees alice dies
next: at 3:29 the kanji are shaped to be a smile
however they look like an evil laugh
read the next comment for more details

then:in the end when it says Ecila is no more, that means Ecila switched places with Alice
and now Alice is all alone at the bottom
lastly: Ecila takes Kaito's hand and leaves because she hated that cold place down there but looks back because she feels bad
More stuff
-its flipped upside down, she took her place
-for what i had lost i took this hand, she hadnt seen warmth in so long
-perhaps the image on the water is just me
- walked along a puzzling road, she had never seen the outside world
