They hit the demographic sweet spot in the age of their population, but the coup de grace was making sure that group was educated. Don't look at it as a government handout. It is an investment. How many "trillions" do you think are spent on entitlements? Didn't the GAO report that we are missing something like 7 trillion from 2 departments in the last 3 years? Those are important trillions to look for. Again...how many "trillions" are being spent on entitlements?

Congress controls the money only if spending bills are not vetoed. It takes two to tango and compromise is the key to avoiding scrutiny. Republicans had the majority in congress for a few years during Bush's presidency and that's when the trouble began. By the time the Democrats took control of congress at a time when the damage already was done. The approval ratings reflect ALL those in congress, not just the Democrats.

Reid had to cater to Lieberman -right or wrong- so he'd continue to caucus with the Democrats, otherwise it'd a clean 50-50 split where Cheney, as President of the Senate, gets the tiebreaker. Anything of substance passed in the House would be impossible to pass in the Senate without a poison pill amendment being introduced or filibuster threats.

I disagree with your assessment of universal coverage for college students. Listen, Ireland is a great example of how universal coverage can revolutionize an economy. They hit the demographic sweet spot in the age of their population, but the coup de grace was making sure that group was educated. Don't look at it as a government handout. It is an investment. Hillary won't get the nomination, Congressman Paul won't have to go up against her, I believe Obama will get the Democratic nod. It should be a good race for the Presidency as we will face the choice of Dr. Paul and Mr. Obama.

This video has sparked some awesome debate but I think people need to back off from the my guy your guy style. Both parties have shown examples of horrible corruption and notable success. Do not get trapped into single issue politics or the party name game. Try removing the stigmas attached to party names and just look at the politicians. Both voters and politicians tend to bring far to much ego into elections.

Dems need Bush out or 66% of the Senate. Next year vote for them, or get more Enrons, World Coms, Iraq Wars, 9/11 attacks, and Senators having sex in public bathrooms. If you like those things, then go ahead and vote GOP.

WE had more problems under the Clinton admin. Believe it or not, Enron, World Com, Adlephia, and 9/11 started well before Bush was even nominated! 9/11 wasn't Bush's fault, the same way the Oct 93 bombing of the WTC wasn't Clintons fault....the reponses to those attacks however did differ. Clinton choose the usual, Bush tried something different! In 50 years we'll know who made the better choice!

Yes, coal mining started before Bush was in office too. However, it wasn't coal mining that was the problem, but the utter lack of oversight by the federal agencies created to do so. Why did this occur? Because the leviathan corporations that make up Big Coal made campaign contributions to BushCo and got the government off their backs. That's when coal miners started dying and environmental standards declined so badly that the people of Appalachia can't drink their own water anymore.

Google: "Foreign policy of the Clinton Administration" and you will see a Wikipedia article by that title which goes in depth into the anti-terrorist policies--specifically targeting Bin Laden, battle plans and all--of the Clinton Administration, which is also a matter of public record.

The article says the republicans have THREATENED to filibuster, which is not the same thing as actual filibustering. The dems are so frightened of filibusters which would call attention to their frivolous legislation, the mere threat is enough to cower them.
What a waste of time is our congress right now.

That is actually a reference to the modern rules of the Senate, Tamarlane. (Or should I say Genghis Khan? Funny that a Republican chooses a blood-thirsty tyrant as his youtube name...but I digress). Under the modern rules, an actual filibuster (think Strom Thurmond against the Civil Rights Act) is not required. The rules state that a threat is as good as a filibuster.

Neither side in this congress has been effective in addressing those issues which truly need attention. Immigration, Social Security, Inflation, Foreign Relations, Education, etc, etc.
I am not for either side, but the dems seem to have the trophy for leading a congress that does nothing.

Thats why alot of RINO's were ousted! Democrats didn't win the House and Senate, Conservatives fired the RINO's and more is coming! However, with the Demrats in the position of leadership, and controlling every one of the committees, it is clearly a bigger reflection on them than it could ever possibly be on repubs. Just face it...these Demrats haven't done a damn thing...unless of course you want to talk about all the post offices and buildings they have re-named, or how they have tried to lose the war.

Um...I just got back from Reagan International Airport in Washington DC, so please don't tell me about the Dems naming buildings, ok? And they explained it in American Government 101, if you remember, that the Senate opporates under different rules than the House, and one of those rules is the filibuster. I encourage people to read the NY Times article, "How the Filibuster Became the Rule," 12/02/2007. Google it.
