i agree with some of the previous post abt carbon dating rocks...it is impossible. i am currently taking a college chemistry class for my field in medicine and u can orly carbon date organic substances. if u find a sea shell, the only way it can be dated is to have organic material left behind. everything w/life is "radioactive" and there is a complicated equation that determines how "radioactive" it is which gives the date or time in which it existed. rocks, limestones, granite dont eat!

well the first pyramid (step pyramid was built around 2,800 BC, then the first pyramids at Giza were around 2,500 BC so thats around 300 years to develop a better understanding of pyramid building, yet it was only around 300 years to go from brick underground tombs to the first pyramid. how can they claim 300 years is reasonable evidence for underground tombs, to a pyramid, when it took the same length of time to master pyramid building.

There are already very old civilizations in the World from 12.000 years ago. Especially in Turkey Goblekli Tepe it's 11,500 years old it contains the oldest temples in the world they were very advanced not to mention Catal Huyuk 9.000 years old. West believes them around 10,500BC, or even much older. From what I recall Schock was more conservative, likely mainly to avoid ridicule from his colleagues, but thinks they're older than the history books say anyhow. Right there is the problem. Many of these people aren't being objective about these findings because they're afraid their buddies will laugh at them if they go outside the box. You can never get at the truth that way.

Was thinking the same thing when they suggested the Step Pyramid was there 1000 years before Giza. The evidence you mention suggests that's not the case. So then these Egyptians were actually regressing as they "learned" to build pyramids. It's also curious that there are no hieroglyphics in Giza, but everywhere else in Egyptian architecture.

In that time, all the cultures were very caught up in themselves so many of them didn't keep records of all the civilazations that they came in contact with. Both our explanations are possible so theres no need to argue. Just have to wait and see if anything comes to light. Would sure be cool if Atlantis was real.

And like the video said, for all we know, the Atlantis residents could have been aliens. I highly doubt this theory but almost anything is possible. However, Unless we either find the city underwater or go back in time(unlikely) I doubt we will ever know the truth behind what happened to the lost city. It sure preys on my mind a good bit.

i agree with some of the previous post abt carbon dating rocks...it is impossible. i am currently taking a college chemistry class for my field in medicine and u can orly carbon date organic substances. if u find a sea shell, the only way it can be dated is to have organic material left behind. everything w/life is "radioactive" and there is a complicated equation that determines how "radioactive" it is which gives the date or time in which it existed. rocks, limestones, granite dont eat!

That is the earliest evidence of humanity in the New World. There has got to be a bridge or a system of islands or something connecting the new world with old buried by the sea. well the first pyramid (step pyramid was built around 2,800 BC, then the first pyramids at Giza were around 2,500 BC so thats around 300 years to develop a better understanding of pyramid building, yet it was only around 300 years to go from brick underground tombs to the first pyramid. how can they claim 300 years is reasonable evidence for underground tombs, to a pyramid, when it took the same length of time to master pyramid building.

There is nothing wrong with skepticism, a long as you remain skeptical of your skepticism. Blind faith is bad science, one way or the other. There is a long tradition of a lost civilisation, from both sides of the Atlantic. Dismissing the notion because it doesn't fit our model is self-indulgent; having said that it doesn't help when people tell you about Atlantis as if they have some secret knowledge. It should be about evidence alone.

There are already very old civilizations in the World from 12.000 years ago. Especially in Turkey Goblekli Tepe it's 11,500 years old it contains the oldest temples in the world they were very advanced not to mention Catal Huyuk 9.000 years old. So it's highly possible that there are other lost civilizations underneath the sea or land. Sometimes sites are misdated improperly Goblekli was misdated to 2 or 3,000 years old it later was confirmed 11.500 k. only recently.

no carbon dating suggest that at all. In fact the dynatic reigns of the Giza pyramids make them successors to those who built the Bent, Red Pyramids. The Step Pyramid predates them all. It can be easily seen by the construction methods and materials. You are dead wrong.

wrong, the rock in which the Sphinx is naturally eroding because of the materials that were used. Unfortunately for us the Sphinx erodes faster than the pyramids which easily fools the stupid into thinking its older.

This isn't true. Geologist Dr. Robert Schock confirms John Anthony West's observation that the erosion on the Sphinx was caused by water, not wind. This means it is much older than believed since the area has not had the precipitation necessary for such erosion for a long, long time.

it could be water but water is not the only exclusive method of erosion for rocks. Later on in this film they tell you how it eroded so quickly.

Of course there are other causes for erosion, but water erodes stone differently than wind. It's obvious, even to a layman, that the erosion in question was caused by water.

It's hard to change accepted dogma, especially when it undermines the work of so many. Regardless of conspiracy, regardless of beliefs, the Sphinx was either eroded by water or it wasn't. Clearly the erosion patterns indicate it was caused by water and not wind. Therefore, one has to ask when there was sufficient precipitation for this to occur. This dates the Sphinx to at least 10-12 thousand years ago, perhaps even older.

West believes them around 10,500BC, or even much older. From what I recall Schock was more conservative, likely mainly to avoid ridicule from his colleagues, but thinks they're older than the history books say anyhow. Right there is the problem. Many of these people aren't being objective about these findings because they're afraid their buddies will laugh at them if they go outside the box. You can never get at the truth that way.
Egos can be counter-productive that way.

Was thinking the same thing when they suggested the Step Pyramid was there 1000 years before Giza. The evidence you mention suggests that's not the case. So then these Egyptians were actually regressing as they "learned" to build pyramids. It's also curious that there are no hieroglyphics in Giza, but everywhere else in Egyptian architecture.
What's more likely is that they didn't build the ones in Giza. They tried to mimic them, and couldn't quite get it right.

But what if there were no people there before the atlantians came? What if the atlantians were the first people who went there and were the ones who had the development? I think the Saqqara pyramid is more evidence than something to dismiss the atlantis theory, because the Saqqara pyramid had stairs, just like the early mayan pyramids and the east asian pyramids. But from that point on the pyramids developed in a different way, because the stair pyramids were the basics.

Just imagine yourself being chased out of your home land because a great flood overflows it. You survive and go to another country. You'll have to start all over again. I think that is exactly how it went with Atlantis. If you would be chased out of your city, you won't know how to build the same church as in your old home town. You only know how it looked.
And who says that the Atlantian pyramids were perfect triangles? The majority of the existing pyramids are step pyramids.

Good comment,finally someone else that gets it.The Egyptians were trying to copy the Great Pyramid,that was already in place when the Egyptians came to prominance.The closest they got was the Red Pyramid.There is no proof that the pyramids were tombs for burying the Pharohs.Besides,the Egyptians carved their names and everything else on every monument they built.Why if they built the Great Pyramid are there no carvings on or in it ? Simple,they did not build the Giza Pyramids.

The problem is everybody is quick to turn their theory into science fact. Then as new evidence comes to light that questions their previous findings they ignore it to preserve their fragile egos. So in the end we don't really get at the truth. There's never been a law that couldn't be broken or loopholed around. I just wish these people would be honest and say "this is our best guess, but honestly we don't know shit". That would be refreshing.
