Stop with all the street circuits! There are so many great road courses that be added to the schedule: road america, laguna seca, watkins glen, and even the indy roval!
@WhiteHatBobby I know safety comes first.....but I was just saying it was nice seeing that low profile look similar to the cars from the PPG Indycar/CART days on a modern race car. To be honest my original comment was a little over dramatic and I don’t think the new car looks half bad even with the large airbox. Its definitely better looking than its predecessor and engine competition is something the series needed in a bad way.
lol i never realized how epic this car would look without the giant airbox....the chevy powered car on the high side of the track almost looks like a real race car in that configuration...
"...engine manufacturer development continues." - more like desperate testing to try and get this pig ugly car to even match the pace of the outgoing 2003 car continues. Nice to see one running without the 'airbox' though, that's a positive move on the looks front if it stays. There's an interesting article detailing the fundamental problems written by Marshall Pruett on speedtv - those who think everything's rosy should take a look. It's called "Inside the 2012 Car's Design".
Super intense... Yawn. And ugh, ugly. And that talk if a beautiful sound... people have apparently been so used to the old czar they forget what a beautiful sound from a racing car is.
From the photos that had been released for the new car, I didn't like the looks of them. But they look so much better on the track. Brings back memories.
I fear that we may never see Indycars on 1.5mile ovals again. Not just because of what happened in Vegas,( I think Dan would have wanted to keep racing on them) but because nobody goes to the races. They might as well change the name to "IZOD Street Race Series"
i hope this means a race there and Chicago land, Richmond, and the redone Phoenix (i feel they destroyed a great track) Nazareth would be great too if not for the houses that now sit on top of it.
that is what an indy car engine should sound like. it's been a long time...

They almost look like a Daytona prototype right???
MegaBiker98 1 month ago
@MegaBiker98 not at all. Daytona prototypes are closed wheel, closed cockpit.

@XXformula Seriously, with the tragedy at Las Vegas, might a giant long airbox be a positive for safety where it extends past the driver's head?
WhiteHatBobby 2 months ago
@XXformula theres a good chance they will run the roll hoop! I think the car looks awesome and even better with out the giant airbox
