In Gears of War, the story line never said the humans were doing right, nor did they say the Locust were. The war was started because, we the humans, tried to steal their immulsion or however you spell it. Outlaws is right in a way. Theirs not really a right side. And Kevin was ignorant the whole time, after all he did try to reason with the human at the beginning and they still tried to kill him. I can see where Dex is coming from. He has no future if he goes back.
