I remember an overnight stay in Bristol years ago. The next morning I confounded the taxi driver after he found out I was going to London. "What time does your train leave?" he was muddled. "Oh I just buy tickets when I get to any given station." He was startled, "But the next train to London doesn't leave for over an hour!" I just smiled, "That's okay." No way to explain to people how much I love train stations! *laughs*
It's a lot cleaner than it used to be with the steam and smoke of the old big engines making the high windows grimy.
I remember it well from the time I used to take the last train possible back to London and my airfield, from a weekend pass in the R.A.F in the '50's. I'm 73 now. Thanks for a fond memory.
Small world. I used to live near there after demob, because after I was married in 1960 I moved to Chalfont-St-Giles. Used to go to High Wycombe occasionly and also Amersham. Worked at Mars in Slough for a while. Came to Canada in '65

Interesting to see the old Temple Meads again.

Glad to revive fond memories. I too served in the RAF for a couple of years in the '50s and, oddly enough. my memories of that period are fond too.

@jegman4 I was in High Wycombe in '53/'54 and often went to the repertory theatre near the railway arch. Did you ever go?.
