This makes a lot of sense to me. I think some people are born with or experience various life conditions equivalent to the cold water purification baths Shinzen describes that force one to either be totally concentrated or else suffer painfully---physical pain, generalized anxiety, and other such conditions come to mind.

There are many good meditation teachers out there, but for me, no one puts it together with the clarity and depth that Shinzen does. There's no fluff here.

Recently discovered Shinzen and now listening to his "The Science of Enlightenment." I am full of respect and admiration for the depth of his wisdom and humility.

Shizen is such a brilliant teacher, with eyes full of love & compassion..

I hope one day he can teach me..What a pity US is so far from Europe..

For the time being I have the honour & pleasure to listen to his amazing teachings, on my Ipod, every single day.
