I don't believe Bill was taking a stab at these Latin American writers which are worldly respected and invaluable contributors to literature... seems more like an attack to a general american ignorance regarding non-american writers and/or artists in general to me. The Kanye West comment and the stereotypical generalization gave me this impression. Wouldn't make allot of sense otherwise, Bill would be in obliviously bad company in this. But maybe I'm just trying not to feel disappointed at Bill.

2. There are only 6 latin american writers arwarded with the nobel prize: Garcia Marquez, Octavio Paz, Pablo Neruda, Miguel Angel Asturias, Gabriela Mistral y Vargas LLosa.

3. According to George Steiner and Harold Bloom, most of them are truly great.

4. But greater than all of them was Borges, by far.

5. And he was robbed like Yourcenar, Joyce, Proust, Orwell, etc.

I'm not well known, and I'm a conservative, so they would never give me a show.

I'm tired of hearing that having a show means that you have talent. Rosie O'Donnell had a show, and she has no talent. She's a comedienne? How come I've never heard her tell a joke? What about Chelsea Handler? I've seen her show, and it's awful. She's another "comedienne" who never says anything funny. TV is full of untalented hacks, like George Lopez.

Regardless though, if thats your belief, why don't you just take up a radio show like rush limbaugh and bash liberals all day. Frankly, I can't think of any talk show host who is "great." But that's because talk shows use a tedious, repetitious format.

Also, you're *tired* of hearing "that having a show means you have talent." I've never heard that...ever.

Never read anything by Vargas Llosa, but understand he is and has been for a while now, a right winger politician. The Nobel prize he received is probably payment for services rendered to the right.
