If you watch hios NME interview he said he wanted to condense about 20 years of his music down into a set, using old & new songs because he was at Download, if he was at another type of festival he'd write a setlist suitable for that, so he's playing songs like this because they fit in better with the Download crowd

Almost touched his hand..but not quite :( i was so insanly happy when he played soundgarden stuff. chris, just REFORM SOUNDGARDEN! bring GOOD grunge back. You were the pioners of grunge in my eyes. This was beautiful. Some total scum threw a bottle of piss at him earlier in the set. Later I found out it was someone associated with our group and was disgusted. Before they played this Cornell said it was for all the people who'd come there to have a good time, and not the c**ts. I nearly cried during this. It may be a kind of glorified karaoke, but it was a beautiful moment I'll never forget.
