I know its been said, but this is an example of a bad driver, I dont think he knows how to lock the hubs by brake/throttle. On a side note, I bought my H1 for $25K, same price as my buddy's Rubicon, I like both almost equally for different reasons.
XJs are alot better than a hummer, hummers are way too big to even be practical for any type of off roading. for those that say a hummer can scale a vertical wall, when will that ever be needed for any type of off road? In the mud they sink like a brick, in a wooded area there too big to move between trees, visibility from one sucks due to the size, the only advantage the hummer has over the XJ is its ability to be run through deeper water

First of all the only real Hummer is the H1. The H2 is just a Tahoe and the H3 is just a fucking joke.
Also, off road capability has a lot to do with the driver. Give a skilled off roader a Hummer and they can conquer any terrain. Give someone whos never driven off road a Hummer and they will have trouble overcoming even the smallest and most simple of obstacles.

@fraccz13 I have to agree that H2 is total failure. I don't mean it is useless, it is not that bad actually, but it just doesn't perform so well for it was designed to do. It is pointlessly too heavy. Toyota/Lexus, Nissan/Infiniti, Land Rover can do better off roading. On road, H2 is surprisingly uncomfortable. Despite of it's big size, interior is, again, surprisingly tiny and very cheap. You may not get attention as much as the old days, but it is still a noticeable truck on road.

@jvallager it depends on which set of trax you get.. the costly part is the steering upgrade, how ever much lift it needs to allow them to turn all the way, and then theres the fact that they dry rot quick when you dont use them...

Jeep of any type stock can't do what hummer stock can. second the h2 is not built on the tahoe frame. compare the frames they are different. I thought the same thing then I got educated. Only drawback of hummer to jeep is weight. If you equip it the right way hummer will smoke jeep every time. as far as mopar. My 2000 silverado smoked jeep after jeep in the mud and on the trail..
But the difference is. If your really offroading your going to get dents. I dont now to many people that like dents in there hummers. Thats why i Drive Toyota.

Forget about the fake hummer, the real hummers are not hop in and drive vehicles... it takes some actual skill to really understand how to use all of its nice features. I've seen some pretty cool Humvee overhauls where people ditched the gm block for a duramax or cummins. Either way real hummers don't suck if the driver is good, and jeeps kick ass.

For a lot of the clips in this video it's the driver that sucks, not the hummer. Hummer H1 is actually really good off road, that's why the U.S army uses it. The H2 and especially the H3 suck.
@counterclockwise123 Wrong again. There are way bigger differences that you are not mentioning. I can list all of them. The use different engines (engine sizes, and type). The humvee has a 6.2L diesel engine with significantly more power, whereas the H1 has a 6.6L gas. Also, the Axels have different ratios. I can go on and on about all the major and minor differences. Point is, they are different trucks/cars. The army does not use Hummers.

He got to drive the Humvee a few times and he said it wasn't like any vehicle here. The H1 and humvee do have similarities, but they are also very different. Some consider them to be completely different. Oh and another difference between them is weight, length, and height.... and the Humvee has a different exhaust system.

@specops3866 Both used 6.2L 6.5Ln/t 6.5L turbo, then in 06 the HUMMER got the Duramax/Allison the HUMVEE kept the 6.5LT w/less hp/toruqe. The HUMVEE has a mild lift to fit 40-42 i think, there are no differences in any of the body measurements or wheel base, 06 2.56 gears/HUMVEE 2.73, not much to brag about. HUMMVEE has light duty half-shafts and ball joints/HUMMER has heavy duty no clue why... He's not the only one with a HUMMER, I got my #s form window sticker and owners manual... Have JEEP 2

The diffs in the Hummer lock only when applying slight pressure to the brakes at the same time as the accelerator. It makes it more manageable for snow and ice, when you don't need all four locked. Change out the H1 driver with someone that knows the vehicle and you'll be amazed at how much they can do. That having been said, I'll stick with my XJ and save the money for other interests.

3) by mobile turret I'm assuming you mean Browning M2, well they used to be attached to Jeeps. The Browning M2HB weighs 84lb by itself, I'm pretty sure even the wimpy rollbars on a Wrangler could take that...

@kevinsupra90 There is a difference between object that weights 84lb and 84lb .50 heavy machine gun. It's not the weight that play role here - it's the recoil. That was exactly the reason why M2 was rarely installed on Jeeps. It was rather .30 cal M1919.
@zrvpvo8789 having used an M2HB, I don't think the recoil is THAT strong... I mean yeah if you were to somehow fire it offhand, it would launch your ass down to the ground... but mounted it would roll a Jeep on stable ground?

First of all the only real Hummer is the H1. The H2 is just a Tahoe and the H3 is just a fucking joke.
Also, off road capability has a lot to do with the driver. Give a skilled off roader a Hummer and they can conquer any terrain. Give someone whos never driven off road a Hummer and they will have trouble overcoming even the smallest and most simple of obstacles.

@fraccz13 I have to agree that H2 is total failure. I don't mean it is useless, it is not that bad actually, but it just doesn't perform so well for it was designed to do. It is pointlessly too heavy. Toyota/Lexus, Nissan/Infiniti, Land Rover can do better off roading. On road, H2 is surprisingly uncomfortable. Despite of it's big size, interior is, again, surprisingly tiny and very cheap. You may not get attention as much as the old days, but it is still a noticeable truck on road.

Jeep of any type stock can't do what hummer stock can. second the h2 is not built on the tahoe frame. compare the frames they are different. I thought the same thing then I got educated. Only drawback of hummer to jeep is weight. If you equip it the right way hummer will smoke jeep every time. as far as mopar. My 2000 silverado smoked jeep after jeep in the mud and on the trail..

Forget about the fake hummer, the real hummers are not hop in and drive vehicles... it takes some actual skill to really understand how to use all of its nice features. I've seen some pretty cool Humvee overhauls where people ditched the gm block for a duramax or cummins. Either way real hummers don't suck if the driver is good, and jeeps kick ass.

The humvee has a 6.2L diesel engine with significantly more power, whereas the H1 has a 6.6L gas. Also, the Axels have different ratios. I can go on and on about all the major and minor differences. Point is, they are different trucks/cars. The army does not use Hummers.

He got to drive the Humvee a few times and he said it wasn't like any vehicle here. The H1 and humvee do have similarities, but they are also very different. Some consider them to be completely different. Oh and another difference between them is weight, length, and height.... and the Humvee has a different exhaust system.

@specops3866 Both used 6.2L 6.5Ln/t 6.5L turbo, then in 06 the HUMMER got the Duramax/Allison the HUMVEE kept the 6.5LT w/less hp/toruqe. The HUMVEE has a mild lift to fit 40-42 i think, there are no differences in any of the body measurements or wheel base, 06 2.56 gears/HUMVEE 2.73, not much to brag about. HUMMVEE has light duty half-shafts and ball joints/HUMMER has heavy duty no clue why... He's not the only one with a HUMMER, I got my #s form window sticker and owners manual... Have JEEP 2

The diffs in the Hummer lock only when applying slight pressure to the brakes at the same time as the accelerator. It makes it more manageable for snow and ice, when you don't need all four locked. Change out the H1 driver with someone that knows the vehicle and you'll be amazed at how much they can do. That having been said, I'll stick with my XJ and save the money for other interests.

a stock wrangler could do wonders more off road than a stock h2 for example and be on the same level if not better than an h1

1) none of the other vehicles tries the path the hummer was taking.
2) lets see a wrangler survive a roadside bomb.
3) lets see how retarded a mobile turret gun looks on top of a wrangler. probably couldnt even handle the payload, whats a gvwr on one, 6,000 lbs?
If the jeep had anything to offer the US Military for what they need over seas AND be just as capable as a humvee with a few thousand pounds of equiptment and armor, I'm sure they would have already been on contract.

2) Let's see a Hummer survive a roadside bomb. Even HMMWVs don't take IEDs well. Only specially up-armored versions of the HMMWV can survive a roadside bomb.
3) by mobile turret I'm assuming you mean Browning M2, well they used to be attached to Jeeps. The Browning M2HB weighs 84lb by itself, I'm pretty sure even the wimpy rollbars on a Wrangler could take that...
By the way, I hate Jeep and Hummer. Toyota by far.

@kevinsupra90 There is a difference between object that weights 84lb and 84lb .50 heavy machine gun. It's not the weight that play role here - it's the recoil. That was exactly the reason why M2 was rarely installed on Jeeps. It was rather .30 cal M1919.

@zrvpvo8789 having used an M2HB, I don't think the recoil is THAT strong... I mean yeah if you were to somehow fire it offhand, it would launch your ass down to the ground... but mounted it would roll a Jeep on stable ground?

@kevinsupra90 It would not roll the Jeep but recoil would damage it sooner or later. Check out pictures from WWII - see how many Jeeps you'll find with M2 vs. those fitted with M1919.
