@SilverTongueJona10 That is one of the reasons I got this seat, I was having the same problem. This seat keeps your butt on the bike. I ended up removing the springs so I can sit lower, the springs are comfortable but when you get on the brakes you will slide forward. Bottom line the seat keeps your butt on the bike. It's more comfortable as well.
@Vaish57 The fuel light will typically come on at 60 miles or so. I have not run the bike out of fuel yet so I am guessing a 100 miles before it's dry.
@SameFly365 I actually removed the springs and put rubber bumpers in place. The springs actually sit you up quite high and cause you to slide forward when braking. The rubber bumpers are soft enough to absorb the bumps and keeps me sitting low enough to be comfortable. I haven't been on any 100+ mile rides yet but my butt goes numb after about 50 miles...other than that I love it.
@airpita so it's definitely an around town seat but still more comfortable (and stylish) than the stock seat. thanks for the reply. do you have a link for putting the rubber bumpers on?
hey, nice bike, quick question, i was having a hell of a time trying to remove the front fork brace so i could remove the front fender from the brace. did you take off the tire and remove the fencer from the brace, or did you remove the brace and keep the tire on? i tried an allen key, it was bending from the force, so i attached a vice grip and with at it stripped the allen key. my brace is on the bike unbelivably tight.
@hatchetrob Holy Shit man now thats tight !! I left the tire on and just removed the four bolts on the top of the brace. Next flip it over and remove the four Star Drive screws holding it in place. Not to be a smart ass but just remember righty tighty - lefty loosey. Those bolts should back right out unless they were put on with red Loctite then it will require heat to remove. Good luck Bud.
@airpita i hit the key with a blow torch to maybe loosen any loc tite, then i tried again no luck. eventually stripped one bolt. two came loose, but i just tighten them back because i didnt feel like drilling out the loose bolt yet. dont know why mine was so much more difficult then anyone elses... i asked for suggestions on xlfourms too but noone had this problem.
@hatchetrob sorry if this is a double reply, tried to respond yesterday, but...
yeah im just gonna put my man pants on and wrench the shit outta it, now that i know theres nothing special that has to be done, and if that doesnt work ill get those "T" type of allen keys because they seem to be the strongest. I have the Husky brand ones that are in a fold out pocket knive-style plastic holder, that i was scared to snap. anyway, thank dude.
I think at 5'7" you would probably want the apes...I am right at 6' and the stock bars made me reach a bit. I think the 12" apes would be perfect for you even with the forward controls. Stop by a local dealer if they are worth anything they will be able to bring out a set of bars and hold them in place while you sit on it. I think you would be ok.
hey. whats up? bike looks good man! i got the same forty eight and im looking to put the same bars on! if you dont mind me asking how much was it for everything and did you do the install yourself?
@aaeeaat The Fuel Pack is a Fuel Management unit...its used in conjunction with a new exhaust and high flow air cleaner = MORE POWER !! Look it up on Vance And Hines website.
Good looking bike...was the fuelpak pretty easy to install and mount? I've been thinking of getting one for my bike and I was just curious as to how difficult it is...Thanks
@theillestmothafucka The Fuel Pack was very easy to put on....disconnecting the negative battery cable is the hardest part as it is buried under the rear jug and on top of the tranny. All the connections are really easy to do.

Do you find that your more stationary on that seat? On my 48 I slide back often at higher speeds and it's a bit annoying.

Great bike man... what kind of grips are those?
bowhunterramsey 8 months ago
@bowhunterramsey The grips are HD Nostalgia Grips...your dealer should have em.

@airpita how is that spring seat treating you? is it comfortable for long rides (100+ miles)?

Do those apes make the bike more rideable for somebody that's 5'7" ? I fear im too short for the bike stock..
zsoltyka 1 year ago
I had the bars put on by the dealer. It was around $650 for everything. I have done four bar swaps and really didn't feel like doing another.
