My thoughts - from what I think about chistianity is why do they not believe in soothsayers? yet in the new testament it is about the future. they go against what they say. @ighforever and it is your every right to believe in jesus. judging from your comment (and if i misjudge, i apologize) that you are critical to wiccan belief. that, too, is your right. no one forces you to believe in it. but, why don't you just accept it as another faith? there are many ways to the divine, and the great religions share common aspects, things like love thy neighbor or be kind to those around you. but sadly some religions say they are the only right way, which is not the case.

Think about this: if we call Jesus our Lord we submit to having Jesus rule over us, we love him & will do all he commands. Jesus will never command his servants to do evil, only good. As he did for us 2000 years ago.

@ninja1o Read my post in the other video. Catholic church brought many pagan rituals, holidays etc... into it to get converts. Cathloic is pagan and not of God. In the early years thre was a True part of the Body of Christ Jesus there. It disappeared long long ago. Many Christians still use Christmas trees because many pagans did come to Christ Jesus and they then remade the tree into a symbol of Worship and Praising God, a time of rejoicing and being with Loved ones. Like Easter.

We can argue pagan, old paganism Wiccan all we want, they are words and labels nothing more. A way to discus what is hard to describe. Wiccan is based on old religions including the ones mentioned before but also druidism, And even older yet, Mother worship. Which evidence of has been found dating back to early humanity. In my opinion call it what you want, connect to the earth and love. Use your energy to make your will come to pass. that is my religion.

Um wicca is a religion, it is a nature based religion based on the old pagan faith, also known as the first religion in the world. Long before the ignorant chirstains religion decided to come along and steal all we know and love. also you can be a wiccan and not be a witch, but if u are a witch u are either wiccan or pagan. witchcraft its self is a branch of pagansim. if u cast spells, make potions, charms, or cast magick of any kind, you are a witch, be content with that. Actually Wicca is a fertility Mystery priesthood. There is no "the old pagan faith", since pagan refers to any form of polytheism. Gardner did, however, take influence from the Golden Dawn which was an older pagan religion (they claimed to be the "Olde Tradition", but nothing can be totally proven). Christianity far predates Wicca and you'd be wise not to pull the persecution card on them. You have your facts mixed up, witchcraft is not a religion and can therefore not be a branch of paganism.
Also, do you have any idea why magic is sometimes spelled with a "k"? I wouldn't be mocking other people when you obviously have your facts very confused. And let me go back to the whole Christian thing, they took a lot of pagan influence, but they were mostly converted pagans themselves (ie. the Romans). They didn't steal Wiccan tradition (Wicca wasn't even around until the 1950s or so), but they did take pagan traditions. Wiccans practice witchcraft by the way, and Kabbalah (which is Jewish).
Wicca may not be the oldest religon but it is based on ancient beliefs and practices that date back before christianity. All we are doing is giving those practices organization. The belief in the Goddess alone dates back before christianity. If you dont beleive that look at a book on ancient egypt. Even hinduism is older than christianity. Christianity is the new kid on the block. People worshiped goddess before jesus
The only problem with that logic is that the Wiccan goddess isn't an Egyptian, Greek, Roman, or Hindu goddess. Since Wicca is a mystery religion we can never know for sure how ancient their practices are. They do use Qabala, an ancient (and yes, pre-Christian) practice of Judaism. So you see, they take from many religions (including monotheistic ones) and since Gardner was from the Golden Dawn, another mystery religion. We don't know what is from there. Wicca itself is a fairly new religion.

@luscioussensual Correct. It's basically the reawakening of ancient European shamanism with a broader focus on the Goddess and God (as opposed to just one deity). Christianity is indeed one of the newer religions to surface, and a lot of the holidays that Christianity has are based on pagan traditions (and were introduced to people who followed the "old religion" to get them to convert to Catholicism when it started to grow). The maiden, the mother and the crone. That's just the first one that pops to mind right off hand. But just because Christianity is the new kid on the block doesn't mean anything. Everyone is entitled to there own beliefs.

@dsdragonspawn Actually, Yule is a Pagan holiday. But the Christians took a lot of their holidays in order to make it easier to convert Pagans to Christianity. So our Yule is equivalent to their Christmas.
@luscioussensual Christianity stemmed from Judaism which began first with Adam and Eve's relationship with God, then rekindled with Abraham after the flood. Everything that happened in the old testament (what Jews use) was a precursor and prophecy to the 'Messiah' that would come--Jesus. So Christianity as a relationship with God as Christians know it is in actuality the first religion.

The whole "pre-Christian" thing is highly debatable with witchcraft. Since it isn't a religion, a lot of it isn't written down and is usually passed down through families of hereditary witches. Most of the spells people do nowadays are highly newage. That's not to say they are wrong or any less powerful, but they aren't necessarily the magic used back then.

Well, mostly i use spells and rituals to commune with the divine, and i use alot of pagan dietes such as the morgan and the sun god even though they all relate to the goddess and god i feel much more comfortable by using them instead of the basic dieties but its really up to the seeker/practioner.

But through all the translation, some things are misinterpreted. Just, I assume, word of mouth is sometimes changed on accident. Ever play the telephone game? I presume the same happens in written word. From God>man's limited understanding>written word>translation. Lots of places for misinterpretation, not to mention the translator's own belief's influences on the subject being translated.

@ighforever and it is your every right to believe in jesus. judging from your comment (and if i misjudge, i apologize) that you are critical to wiccan belief. that, too, is your right. no one forces you to believe in it. but, why don't you just accept it as another faith? there are many ways to the divine, and the great religions share common aspects, things like love thy neighbor or be kind to those around you. but sadly some religions say they are the only right way, which is not the case.

@wtfkklol They are not Saved. They are not under the Blood of Christ. They have not submitted to have Jesus rule over them as King, Lord & God. They do not believe Jesus is Saviour, who died on the Cross to set all people free from the Bondage of sin.
Think about this: if we call Jesus our Lord we submit to having Jesus rule over us, we love him & will do all he commands. Jesus will never command his servants to do evil, only good. As he did for us 2000 years ago.

@ninja1o Read my post in the other video. Catholic church brought many pagan rituals, holidays etc... into it to get converts. Cathloic is pagan and not of God. In the early years thre was a True part of the Body of Christ Jesus there. It disappeared long long ago. Many Christians still use Christmas trees because many pagans did come to Christ Jesus and they then remade the tree into a symbol of Worship and Praising God, a time of rejoicing and being with Loved ones. Like Easter.

I have a Christian neighbor who found out about me being Wiccan, and he tried telling me I was essencially going to hell, no use to try and talk to him and now he runs in the house when I come out. He seems to be scared of me for some reason. Anyone have any ideas about that?

Wiccan is based on old religions including the ones mentioned before but also druidism, And even older yet, Mother worship. Which evidence of has been found dating back to early humanity. Um wicca is a religion, it is a nature based religion based on the old pagan faith, also known as the first religion in the world. Long before the ignorant chirstains religion decided to come along and steal all we know and love. also you can be a wiccan and not be a witch, but if u are a witch u are either wiccan or pagan. witchcraft its self is a branch of pagansim. if u cast spells, make potions, charms, or cast magick of any kind, you are a witch, be content with that. Actually Wicca is a fertility Mystery priesthood. There is no "the old pagan faith", since pagan refers to any form of polytheism. Gardner did, however, take influence from the Golden Dawn which was an older pagan religion (they claimed to be the "Olde Tradition", but nothing can be totally proven). Christianity far predates Wicca and you'd be wise not to pull the persecution card on them. You have your facts mixed up, witchcraft is not a religion and can therefore not be a branch of paganism.

Also, do you have any idea why magic is sometimes spelled with a "k"? I wouldn't be mocking other people when you obviously have your facts very confused. And let me go back to the whole Christian thing, they took a lot of pagan influence, but they were mostly converted pagans themselves (ie. the Romans). They didn't steal Wiccan tradition (Wicca wasn't even around until the 1950s or so), but they did take pagan traditions. Wiccans practice witchcraft by the way, and Kabbalah (which is Jewish).

Wicca may not be the oldest religon but it is based on ancient beliefs and practices that date back before christianity. All we are doing is giving those practices organization. The belief in the Goddess alone dates back before christianity. If you dont beleive that look at a book on ancient egypt. Even hinduism is older than christianity. The only problem with that logic is that the Wiccan goddess isn't an Egyptian, Greek, Roman, or Hindu goddess. Since Wicca is a mystery religion we can never know for sure how ancient their practices are. They do use Qabala, an ancient (and yes, pre-Christian) practice of Judaism. So you see, they take from many religions (including monotheistic ones) and since Gardner was from the Golden Dawn, another mystery religion. We don't know what is from there. Wicca itself is a fairly new religion.

@luscioussensual Correct. It's basically the reawakening of ancient European shamanism with a broader focus on the Goddess and God (as opposed to just one deity). Christianity is indeed one of the newer religions to surface, and a lot of the holidays that Christianity has are based on pagan traditions (and were introduced to people who followed the "old religion" to get them to convert to Catholicism when it started to grow). @luscioussensual This is true. In alot of respects Christianity does have some aspects that tie into Wicca and paganism for example the holy trinity of Christianity. The tripple goddess of wicca. The maiden, the mother and the crone. That's just the first one that pops to mind right off hand. But just because Christianity is the new kid on the block doesn't mean anything. Everyone is entitled to there own beliefs.

@luscioussensual Christianity stemmed from Judaism which began first with Adam and Eve's relationship with God, then rekindled with Abraham after the flood. Everything that happened in the old testament (what Jews use) was a precursor and prophecy to the 'Messiah' that would come--Jesus. So Christianity as a relationship with God as Christians know it is in actuality the first religion.

The whole "pre-Christian" thing is highly debatable with witchcraft. Since it isn't a religion, a lot of it isn't written down and is usually passed down through families of hereditary witches. Most of the spells people do nowadays are highly newage. That's not to say they are wrong or any less powerful, but they aren't necessarily the magic used back then.

Yes, they are. They are, in a way, what make us witches. Then again, you can use magic without using spells. Charms, potions, mantras, meditations, divination and the like are magic too.
Well, it all depends on what you wish to get out of magic workings. The only thing that "warns" anyone against using negative energy and intentions in their magic is the rule of three. Other than that, it's free game, it's just a matter of what cost you're willing to pay.

Well, mostly i use spells and rituals to commune with the divine, and i use alot of pagan dietes such as the morgan and the sun god even though they all relate to the goddess and god i feel much more comfortable by using them instead of the basic dieties but its really up to the seeker/practioner.

I love my life since finding my calling in wicca, I would recommend any scott cunningham book! I started with "to ride a silver broomstick" by Silver Raven Wolf, check out some books they will become your best resourse, also if you havent checked out Charming Pixie Floras channel, she is an amazing teacher :)

In a way, I almost want to say the darker ones aren't true Witches; after all, we are simply healers, beings of light, right?
But then, they are still the children of the Goddess, and we need to understand how sad it makes her when we do not act out of love.
We need to guide those who have gone astray back to our Divine Mother's arms. We must love them and forgive their mistakes. :)

@HarlockQ Druids, witches and pagans and sorts, they are al pre- doctor, Some specialize in healing with herbs, ( what did people think doctors do aye?) and some wish for luck, some wish for happiness, and most live in peace with earth.
I find it really bothersome if someone thinks of those stories, made up by ( as I recall, hopefully correctly) the Catholic church.

I gues it depends on our defenitions of the word witch. When I think of a witch I think of someone who can perform witchcraft and use spells that actually work. An I have yet to see someone actually performing real witchcraft. But if you say that witches are "loving people of nature" then I suppose that they do exist.

Witchcraft can be defined as an act of using all ones energies and putting it into a since desire. That is the same thing as praying, and doing most daily acts in life.
