This is good but it ignores some very important factors affecting knee mechanics: ankle mechanics, hip mechanics and running technique. There could be problems with one, two or all three when assessing somebody's running, and proper assessment requires close attention to all. Dr. Anthony's rationale is good and the VMO works just like he explains but is missing three important factors mentioned above.
im 14 and have runner's knee. i play football. Im moving up to vars this coming sorphomore year. so I have to be in the best shape, the comp is way higher.
@ballsoftb yea cool, i feel much better though after the same day i looked up exercises. you can even lay flat on your bed and left your leg up and down, real easy. try it. I will say after practice or even jumping, it hurts again. just keep doing the exercise you'll be fine.
I've also been experiencing knee pains.. I'm almost 20 and it gets pretty intense. I haven't done anything crazy to cause any injury to my knee but work since I was 16. Every one of my job's required me to stand for long periods of time which could be the main cause. The job I'm at still requires me to work while standing up. I want to get it checked but no insurance. If they're going to just give you pain medicine, then what I'd do is move to Cali and get on Medical MJ.. not this other crap.
well by me self i did hurt my knee after running 800m after 700m my knee pops and breaks my anterior cruciate ligament and both ligaments. And after 3 years i am not well can not walk in stears because it hurt's to badly.
@NationalPro I'm the same exact thing. 18yrsold(until nov 2, 2011) and I got it. I want to get into cross country and this is not letting me. I do some of the stuff the guy mentions, I've ran from 3 to 5 miles and not really cared.
