  • I believe you were trying to mention the battle of leuctra

  • I downloaded the mod but I have no clue how to install it. Can anyone help me? :(

  • @miguel111093, i'm sure that if you ask on the twcenter forums they'll help you out with whatever problems you have.

  • @aceblazer25 Thanks

  • @miguel111093 Make a copy of your RTW folder (in program files/activison OR program files/The Creative Assembly) and name it Extended Greek Mod. It should come with an installer (never played XGM, but I'll assume) and install everything to your XGM folder.

If it just comes with a bunch of files, extract them to the folder, and say YES to everything.

  • @stingray970 Thanks alot

  • Urban cohorts were basically Roman police.

  • This is xgm right?

Ive noticed that my spartans have low quality resolutions, even if i put everything on max they are low quality (like when their arms and legs are pointed needles)

    how do i fix this?

please help any help would be appreciated :)

  • @nalgaface123456789 try checking the battle shadders on

  • thanks!

  • @nalgaface123456789

how the hell did you get past the Macedonians? they have two full armies when you start as Greece. Meaning you can't play as Greece, Macedonia just suddenly attacks!

  • skillz.

you get the peasants and town guard to swarm and ambush a unit one by one until they lose morale and leave

  • The spartans were defeated by the sacred band at the battle of Luectra. The sacred band unit was also made completely out of gay couples

  • wow this is pathetic, in rome total war the urbans were THE elite unit to go to if you wanted something done.

  • @ibrain305, in RTW, urbans are the most overpowered pieces in the whole game.

  • @aceblazer25 In RTW, the urbans were fictional overpowered shit. Praetorian Guard ftw. :)

  • @aceblazer25 it was the battle of lectura that the Spartans lost, the main reason is in my opinion that the Spartans got to cocky and didnt make any smart moves, and also they didnt have many light troops. and so thebes had most of the hopolites get into a massive phalanx and they steam rolled the spartan right flank

    lol

  • @aceblazer25 no they are not... if the other player got armored hoplites you will lose .. but it olso plays role the player ... for example i can win romans with seleucid empire..

  • @grculturefun, urban cohorts can overcome even spartans if used correctly. Seleucid empire has weak infantry so it makes up for their powerful cataphracts. Cataphracts scare easily anyways when swarmed. Rome just has powerful everything.

  • @aceblazer25 if you attacked from catafracts, you will not survive .... never!

  • @grculturefun, but see, cataphracts aren't overpowered, that's just the way they are. Plus they're slow, they tire easily, and they get scared easily. Urban cohorts can get hammer and anvilled multiple times against pikes and won't break. They're good against everything. True cataphracts are a good counter, but they can be easily avoided or scared off.

  • @grculturefun, I've seen urban cohorts take out phalanxes from the front while getting hammer and anvilled but still survive. To me that's overpowered. Anyways the point is more that the Romans themselves if using urbans/praetorians are for the most part overpowered. Seleucids have weak infantry, Carthage has no archers, Greece has weak cav, Macedon is balanced, etc. etc. The Romans have no weaknesses.

  • @aceblazer25 i dont like romans ... i believe that romans cant stop heavy elephants with catafracts .. look ... the strategical way i play, is unbeatable .... elephants from the front to open the way, and catafracts behind to kill the soldiers who have got lose formation ... is you got elephants every unit loses its formations .. so catafracts got an easy work to do

  • @grculturefun, what money and rules do you play? I usually play CWB which doesn't include elephants, and 15k so you can't get too many cataphracts without seriously depleting your infantry core. Elephants are also easily scared off with fire arrows even in high money battles. And if we're playing no rules...well one or two hits from fire artillery is enough to send them amok.

Anyways here's the one time I fought an all cataphract army. Without support they're nothing.

    watch?v=K4mpsYH8_mM

  • @grculturefun, the only thing that can beat a roman army is a Parthian horse archer/cataphract skirmishing army (Battle of Carrhae style) but that tactic in itself is plain annoying.

  • @ibrain305 urban cohorts were not meant to fight on the field with troops or be used like normal soldiers, their name suggest their use,URBAN.They were however the most elite force and were therefore left to protect Rome when the army was in campaign.Instead of acting like an idiot i suggest you listen to this guy you call pathetic,he clearly knows more than you.You are the one who is pathetic here buddy.

  • @sock1235 They where also the police and fireman ;)

  • @sock1235 Elite? Elite? They were basically just Roman police. They were just good enough to supress riots.

  • wtf aha look at he sacrade bands shield rofl!

  • anyone know how to make the recruitement time to 0?

  • u sound like princeofmacedon =)

  • The Theban Sacred Band defeated the Spartans at the Battle of Leuctra (this battle is also a classical example for putting an elite unit on the left) and were defeated by Philip II at Chaironeia. ;)

  • I would play that mod to death if only I knew how to install it :'(

  • @nalgaface123456789, as you wish.

  • @aceblazer25

    thats messed up man

  • i have it AND diadochi!

Both are awesome but i love diadochi

  • the one prob with this is that the spartans are way overpowered worse than the urbans were then never tire and only route when they have like 7 men in a unit

  • @EHEHEHEOIL Every time I make a 1vs1 unit, on hard, spartans loose always against the urban, praetorian or legionary cohort.

Just don't make the mistake of letting the enemy hit your cohort just when they are about to throw their spears, like in this vid.

I should try a 1vs1 unit on very hard to see if a legionary cohort still beats the spartan unit.

  • where do you get this mod?

  • dude, after seeing this I'm downloading XGM. This really convinced me.

  • I guess the battle you refer to is the Battle of Leuctra in the first half of the 4th C where Epaminondas broke the Spartan supremacy.

  • where you download the mods? send me the page.

  • can u send me a link to get this mod

  • Check ur channel.

PS. If you say yes, I'll go online.

  • Nice vid ace! haha im playing this mod too

do u happen to know of a mod that allows u to play as the like the Greek Cities like Corinth and Thebes by themselves cause i would really like that hahaha

and also perhaps we can play a battle on XGM sometime

  • hmmm well the only one I know of is a mod called "The Greek Wars" which is even more basic. It's probably not what you're looking for though as it's set around 360BC.

I thought XGM has a Provincial campaign allowing you to play some of the Greek cities like Syracuse etc...or was it Diadochi:TW? That's another pretty good mod that focuses on the successors.

  • @aceblazer25 yeah this one too

  • in the newer versions of XGM there is a provincal campign and in some of them u only have one city

  • great video,

i like this mod urban cohorts arnt overpowered

  • and ace are you really from vancouver canada because i am too.

  • yes I am. Living in Ottawa right now though.

  • ace why does it say 'select a item' when i press campaign in this mod.

    plz reply soon

    Grant

  • I did the Roman campaign up to the destruction of Carthage. It was interesting.

  • i enjoy your history bits :P wish i knew about things like this

  • the battle where the theban sacred band beat the spartans was the battle of leuctra. im not sure, but i think that was the first time a spartan army had been defeated in battle by a numerically inferior/equal enemy.

  • That is correct.

  • hmm grenday had this already i think
